Hercules: Zero to Hero

Is "Hercules: Zero to Hero" concidered a Disney Sequel to Hercules?

Also, will this EVER be released to DVD? I do have the VHS but I would also enjoy a DVD as well. :)

I wouldn't call it a sequel because all does is take a few episodes from the cartoon and puts them together.

It's kind of like Tarzan and Jane. It's not really a sequel, just a movie compiled of it's TV series. There's nothing really special about it. I wouldn't classify either Hercules: Zero to Hero, or Tarzan and Jane as a sequel.

"Atlantis: Milo Returns" is essentially the same deal. It's composed of 3 episodes of a series Disney had planned, but when the movie didn't meet their expectations, the series was cut after three episodes had been completed. They were assembled together and put out under the guise of a sequel. That's what I was told at least. "Cinderella II" is like these films in the sense that it is comprised of 3 short stories, however I don't believe it was ever intended to be a TV series. As for "Kronk's New Groove," That flows more like a sequel to me than the others. The themes in the begining are carried throughout the film. It just happens to be primarily told using flashbacks.

Belle's Magical World was also made in that same format...but I doubt that will ever turn into a series...as lucrative as it would probably be :P .

"Coming this summer to Disney Channel...join the charismatic band of household objects from Beauty and the Beast as they go on various adventures, all while dealing with not being human and an angry beast as a master."

...yeah right...
:pan: Love It.

The closest thing out on DVD is available in the UK/Australia (and a few other places) in Region 2/4.

It's called Heroes - Volume One and has episodes of Hercules and Tarzan.

I do remember reading about a Hercules Sequel

Post by disneyboy20022 »

I do kinda remember reading at some Disney Fan site about 2 or 3 years ago that Disney had Planned a Direct to Video sequel to Disney's Hercules titled Hercules II The Trojan War. Although why Hercules would be involved with the Trojan War I have no clue and maybe this was scrapped.
On this same site it also said something about Mulan II which obviously was released but it also talked about a Mulan III. I wonder if that was scrapped as well...

I read this also, good thing I didn't get my hopes up to high, although it would be great to have a Hercules II!

I really wish they had made Hercules II that would have been amazing. I don't understand why nearly every single Disney Classic before and after Hercules has a sequel but Hercules doesnt. MADNESS! The story outline (whether made up or genuine) sounded really good. I'm pretty sure that in Greek Mythology both Hercules and Phil (though in a totally different form) were involved in the Trojan War. But like that matters anyway!!!

Since no one seems to have really answered the question, I will. Hercules: Zero to Hero is a what I call a compilation film or a clip show movie much like "Tazan & Jane" and "Recess: All Growed Down". It just features a few episodes from the Hercules TV Series which was actually a midquel to the Hercules movie.

Hehehe, thanx for ACTUALLY answering it for me. ;)

So basically it's like The Lion King 1/2 coming before The Lion King II Simba's Pride. Also, like Tarzan & Jane before Tarzan II which actually happened lol. :)

Why is it we are nearing the end of DVD, and Disney has now re-released every single prequel, sequel, midquel, interquel, compilation film, and spin-off to their animated classics on DVD - even done second releases on various ones - but this "Hercules: Zero to Hero", a midquel compilation film, never got any DVD release at all?

Anyone find that strange? You'd think Disney would want to cash in on this.

As people pointed out - it's like:

Atlantis: Milo's Return
Cinderella II: Dreams Come True
Tarzan and Jane

...among others. So it's not like it was the only compilation film, so they didn't want to re-release it. There are other 'sequels' and 'prequels', etc. that are just compilation films that got the DVD treatment.

I wish this film would. I wonder why it hasn't. It's the last of the last I need for my collection of all the animated classics and their derivatives on DVD.

This film, Doug's 1st Movie, and 101 Dalmatians Christmas all aren't on DVD yet, just VHS. I still haven't gotten Doug's 1st Movie (I've never even seen it), since when I was going to buy it, I figured I'd just wait to see if it would come to DVD. I have the other two on VHS, and I'd upgrade them to DVD. Jiminy Cricket's Christmas, although I don't know much about it, is only on VHS, too.
