Tonight was kind of a weak finale. They both did great on their personal picks, but I thought both of Simon Fuller's song choices were strange. I actually think this year's winning song is better than the one for most other years, though I felt Kris did better with it than Adam. Regardless, neither would actually sing a song like that. Too much of a power ballad for Kris, and too litte rock-ishness for Adam.
I don't really care who wins, because I like them both personally. And it's way too hard to call it.
Also, I think Kris got in on more than his looks (though that no doubt has contributed to his fanbase). "Man in the Mirror" was a great performance, and one of few highlights in the boring, early rounds. He's been my favorite male contestant on the show since the beginning, no matter how much I like Adam now.

I agree with Divinity. Simon Fuller's choice of songs I think was pretty strange. I hope this is the last year he does this.
In my heart I wish that Kris would win, because Adam has his future already laid out for him thanks to this show. He has the stage experience, and like my friends all say, "he is the camera whore, extraordinare' ",
I think Adam will win, but we will see. If you are recording the show, be sure and set your times for the show to run long. I know it won't be over 10 minutes, but I set the DVR for a half-hour, just in case. I don't want to miss a minute of it.

Congrats Kris.
Not surprised at all. Kris probably got a huge bump from the Danny voters. Still think based on overall season performance Adam probably should have won, but I won't take your win away from you Mr. Allen. I look forward to your debut album this fall.
Now let the persistent chatter of "Adam lost cause he's gay" begin*.
*and just for the record I do believe there were people who voted against Adam just because he was gay, but I don't think it's the reason he lost.

Well, it is true.
And I think Adam was probably, "Fine, you can take the song, too!"
Anyway, I called this 5 pages ago. I just couldn't picture Adam winning, though he definitely has the superior voice. Personality has a lot to do with who wins, and Kris has that. Kris is good at what he does, and I planned on buying his debut album anyway. So, all in all, I'm fine that he won.

From Page 6
Apparently I predicted this exact result weeks ago. Too bad I couldn't have remembered when making my predictions for the final 3 and tonight.Widdi wrote:Voting out the Darkies... Ah, America we love you.![]()
Just kick off Allison, Matt and in the shocking final 3 elimination Danny (the over-praised, non-commercial producer chosen boot - that just happens to be completely deserved and weeks overdue) and let Kris and Adam face off and Kris win and disappear into obscurity.
Glad I was wrong about Allison, but let's face it, unless Matt brings down the house with a combination of pimple blindness and bad singing you might as well stick a fork in her.
Season 8 really does suck.
*waits to be told I'm wrong and have no taste by a certain someone*

Anybody surprised? I actually thought it was a mistake! I always thought Kris would be eliminated so soon. Adam was really good, I wasn't really a fan, as shallow as this sounds, because of his look; why do people keep saying he (and the rest of the emo/punk/scene/goth crowd) is original? It wouldn't be annoying if they stopped treating them as such. However, If I had any say since the beginning I would have Adam win anyway, he brought so much to the show!

What a great show! Regardless of who won, American Idol pulled out all the stops and got a real Who's Who in the music world to grace the AI stage.
I thought it was really cool when the Black Eyed Peas were announced and I was dancing in the middle of the floor with the rest of the audience.
When Kris and Keith Urban did "Kiss A Girl", I said, ' okay, that made my night'.
Then Adam Lambert took the stage, and brought Kiss along with him to do a medley of their biggest hits. Powerhouse rock at its best.
Lil Rounds and Queen Latifah were brilliant in their duet, and I thought Lionel Richie overpowered Danny Gokey, but it was still good stuff.
When Kris and Adam came out and did the opening to "We Are The Champions" I let out the biggest scream when the stage exploded in a brilliant flash and Brian May and Roger Waters led them through one of the biggest Queen songs.
I wasn't as shocked about Kris Allen winning as I was in disbelief that Adam hadn't won this hands down. I am glad that the 'glam' rocker will still be heard from, and that America didn't just vote against him, but voted for Kris.
Gay bashers better find another place to post, because I don't think the mods will allow it here on UD. It wasn't a "gay" thing that Adam didn't win, Kris just got more votes.

I'm thrilled (and surprised) that Kris won. Adam Lambert would have been nearly as disappointing a win as Taylor Hicks. Absolutely fantastic finale show from beginning to end; everyone sounded great (except Lil Rounds and Alexis Grace) and unlike many previous finales, this one managed to entertain me for the full two hours. Favorite moment: Kara taking Bikini Girl to school.

It's official!!! Adam Lambert is Gay!!!
Those of you watching "The View" on Friday, May 29, saw the official posting of a quote by Adam Lambert in an interview.
Doesn't bother me in the least. He is a real talent, and his private life is of no interest to me. I will be in line to buy his first CD after the summer tour of "American Idol".

Rumors state that he was paid big bucks by Rolling Stone to make the official announcement on the cover of the next issue. Gotta feel bad for Kris though cause he won the show, but Adam gets all the press.
His boyfriend (who was shown with his family a lot during the season) has an uncanny resemblance to Adam himself. Adam must be a little bit of a narcissist. Ah well.
Hopefully we can have our first young openly gay man success story in a long time.
