Hey all, I just got back from a week long cruise in the Eastern Caribbean. It was a blast and my family and I all had a great time.

Now, to get to the point of the thread. Apparently, on late Tuesday night / early Wednesday morning, a workprint copy of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", with unfinished special effects, stock audio / sound effects and "10 minutes of crucial scenes missing", was leaked online, one full month before its intended theatrical release date. When I first read this online I thought it was an April Fools prank, but this is actually legit. Fox is pissed (obviously) and the MPAA and the FBI are investigating the source of the leak.

First of all, this is an incompleted version of the film. Even the desperately impatient fanboys can't be that weak? The movie's only a month away. Second of all, a lot of people think Fox intentionally leaked the film to drum up publicity. Doesn't that seem like going a bit too far, especially considering how expensive the film likely is?

This fanboy was weak.

Overall even with incomplete special effects the movie was pretty good. My one major complaint was the use of Deadpool.

It's no Dark Knight, Watchmen or even X2, but it's on par with movies like the first Spiderman and Batman (1989) movies.

I do have that leaked copy... The MPAA can have fun hunting, there were literally over 15,000 seeds, and another 45,000 people downloading it when I checked.

I haven't watched it, because I too want to see it in theaters (There's just something about the theatrical experience I like - whereas I don't mind copying DVDs after I see the movies in theaters)... but I opened a few random scenes and it's DVD quality. Whoever did leak it sure knows a lot about telecining film and such, as you would never guess it wasn't an official DVD rip (though I haven't seen those scenes with the unfinished SFX and stuff)

So as you can see, it's actually a great-looking leak, complete with credits and stuff. (Not like those camrips that have bad angles, people walking in front of the lens, and cut off before the credits start)

wow, that's pretty good quality. I'm tempted, seriously, since I never saw a preview screening for any film before, but I'm still determined to wait until the movie comes to theaters. Like you, I still enjoy the cinema more than the home.

Whether it's the mystery of what the trailers will be, the communal experience, the size of the screen, anything.

I didn't notice this before cause I stopped watching it at the credits.

Why not? I mean, I feared it might kill people's connections... but really, those aren't exactly spoilers and you can probably find similar screenshots either in the trailers or on a promotional site...

I did not realize that. It's not a finished version... the opening credits music is actually a song from Transformers. But weird that they'd actually put in DIFFERENT credits... So Hugh Jackman was Wolverine in that movie too? I've never seen any X-Men film before (but since this is a pre-quel it probably won't matter)

I own the first two, and yes, Hugh Jackman is Wolverine in all the X-Men(LA) films.

And just because this is a prequel does not mean that you should watch it before the others. If all prequels were like that, there'd be no mystery in the world.

Don't ask me how I know...the only miss on the fx are the not erased wires on the stunts

Anything else like explotions, Gambit's effects and of course Wolvie's claws are in the leak

There were actually TWO prints of this movie leaked on the internet. And I have copied both to DVD+RW. The first leak is the one we are talking about here, and the second one is a completed work print with all the music, and effects in place, and now awaiting the final cut before its release. The difference in the two is really amazing, as there is a transposition of a couple of scenes in the first one, that are later in the film in the second one.

All the wires are missing, so I think this Work Print is the final one, and if it is, WOW!!! look out at the box office, this one could be very big. Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, and there is no mistaking that. I hope that some of the other characters get their own film down the road.

But for those of you anti-piracy jerks who take it upon yourselves to make me feel bad, just know that I still have every intention to see it in theaters, which truly shows that piracy isn't hurting the studio. (And as my friend just pointed out to me - look at the movie Knowing. It's been out overseas on DVD for months, anybody could import it or download a DVD rip or something, but yet it's a huge hit here.)

I think you've mistaken Knowing with Taken. Knowing isn't playing in many other territories yet, and Taken opened in the UK/France/pretty much everywhere but the USA in February 2008. And piracy is still a crime. It may be a victimless crime, but you're still breaking the law.

Yeah, sorry, I was thinking of Taken.

It may be a crime according to the government... but then again, so is everything else. For example: It's legal to make a copy of a DVD you own for backup purposes. But it's illegal to circumvent copy protection on DVDs. So by legally copying a DVD you've broken the law. The list goes on and on. I simply don't care anymore.

I have ethics and morals - I would never shoplift, as that's actually property that somebody paid for initially. But you can't put a price on 1s and 0s. Duplicate it 50 times, and nobody's really lost any money - the original is still there, in the hands of the film studio.

But, whatever. Just watch, the Wolverine movie will make tons of money and still be a huge success. Which will further prove that piracy doesn't hurt the economy (or the film studios!)

I'll wait till May 1st. I rather see a finished film. That way if I don't enjoy it, I can blame it fully on the movie, not because I saw an unfinished version. I expect I will enjoy it though....as just a popcorn flick.

I learned a long time ago, never to walk into a adaptation movie and expect stellar anything...this way I am not disappointed when its not stellar but I may be impressed because I wasn't thinking highly of it to begin with. If any of that made sense.

I would like to know from those who saw it...my daughter is 10 and use to seeing PG-13 films, she saw Hellboy II and Hancock for instance, is this movie kid safe? I understand its rated for 13 and over. So long as there aren't gratuitous sex scenes, I let her see a movie.

So true. Though I still think "X-Men: The Last Stand" is mostly a mess with far too much focus on Storm & Wolverine, because I went in with my expectations through the floor, I still managed to enjoy parts of it.

Additionally, it will help for this if you don't go in expecting utmost faithfulness to established backstory. Just go with it. Things are going to be changed. They might work, they might suck, but don't hate it solely on the basis that something was changed.
