Best week thus far, still only liked 5 of the performances, but still better than it has been.
1. Allison Iraheta - Why is she not popular? This may be the first Idol recording I ever buy off iTunes. LOVED it.
2. Kris Allen - Where did he come from. Invisible in the audition rounds, Kris is making his mark. Another excellent performance. The monkey faces still annoy me, but he can really sing!
3. Adam Lambert - Did anyone else think he looked like Zac Efron's Link Larkin from Hairspray? Anyway, another good song. I'm actually starting to come around on him.
4. Matt Giraud - First time I have ever actually liked him. His voice fit the song perfectly. Nice job!
5. Anoop Desai - I miss fun Anoop. Great vocal but I want my entertainer back. He's getting boring.
6. Lil Rounds - Dropped the ball with a horrible song choice. Still sounded better than last week though. Not a fan yet.
7. Scott MacIntyre - His best so far, but still he's not a strong enough singer to be at this point. Honestly if he weren't blind he probably would have been voted off before now.
8. Danny Gokey - Terrible vocal with a bad stage dance. They need to stop pimping him cause he's not that good or really that marketable.
9. Megan Joy - It was fitting that she wore an ocean themed dress cause she totally sounded like bad cruise ship entertainment.
10. Michael Sarver - No, just... No.
Bottom 3: Michael, Scott, Megan
Going Home: For the second week in a row I pick Michael as this weeks castoff.
Will the save be used? Not a chance.

I thought Allison did second-best of the night (and much better than last week), after Kris and Matt. Still, she’s my favorite at this point. Zac Efron in Hairspray was the first thing I thought of when seeing Adam, too! Anyway, it’s strange that he’s starting to become one of my favorites (along with the former three), considering I really hated him during the Hollywood rounds (though I liked him in the auditions—he’s a mixed bag, I guess). Lil Rounds did much better than last week, but I’m starting to realize that she doesn’t have much potential for a wide selection. Her voice isn’t big enough to do a diva song or a ballad justice; she’s just kind of in the middle. Anyway, I liked Scott again, but he wasn’t as good as last week. Same with Danny, who I think did as much with that song as could be done. Anoop did pretty good, too. I just hated when he did the “baby, baby,” up high. Wish he’d changed that.
Anyway, I wasn't expecting too much from this week anyway, so they did better than I imagined they would.
As for Megan and Michael, I just zoned out on both. I miss Alexis.

It was "A" show last night on Idol as Alysson, Anoop, and Adam blew the roof of the building with their Motown impressions. Smokey Robinson was the perfect tutor for them this week, as he is probably responsible for more of the Motown hits than anyone realizes.
Adam blew everyone away with his 'clean good looks', and made "Tracks of My Tears" his own song. I am becoming a fan very quickly.
Since the guys outnumber the girls I just think that it will be a guy going home this week, although I wish it was Megan that we would lose.
My bottom three tonight would probably be wrong, but I am picking Michael Sarver as the one going home. He has been given three chances and flunked them all. If they send a girl, it had better be Megan.

It was a musical event on "American Idol" Season Eight tonight when Smokey Robinson joined with Joss Stone for a heart-stopping duet. Ruben Studdard dropped by and sang his new song "Together", and then Stevie Wonder capped the evening with his Motown Medley.
Better yet, Michael Sarver is no longer in the Top Ten. He was sent home.
Can't believe the bottom three were Matt G., Scott and Michael. Of the three I thought Michael was the weakest on Wednesday night.
Let's hope everyone brings their "A" game next week. The season is really getting a lot better than I gave it credit for in the beginning. It may end up with a four-guy Final Four unless Alysson or Lil can step it all up.

Bye bye Michael. Woot 3/4 so far in terms of predictions.
The Joss Stone/Smokey Robinson was nice on the ears but really creepy to watch...
Ruben Studdard is still as irrelevant as ever and makes boring generic R&B/Gospel Music and gives stationary performances.
Stevie Wonder was good, but I really think it's time to give up the dreds.
Now... I have a MAJOR bone to pick with AI. WTF was with the pretaped, LIP SYNCED, group performance! Isn't this a SINGING competition? And at least if you are going to get them to lip-sync train them on how to do it properly! It was laughably bad and robs this show of a lot of what little credibility it has left. And for the love of God do not argue this with me you lot. If you don't believe they were lip syncing go watch it again. Allison and Scott are particularly bad at it.

Ha, Megan wasn't even at the bottom three this week !
But honestly that was her worst performance ever, I was really disappointed, if she isn't gonna be the next AI... which I doubt will happen, I hope Adam or Alisson get the title.
I don't get what all the buzz is about Anoop, he's not the best of the group, and is a little overconfident IMO.

I haven't watched this season, but I have seen clips off and on and its clear they are lip syncing during the group performance. I think its sad that they have chosen to do this in order to make the performance look good. This is a singing competition (although popularity also plays a big role in my opinion) and they should always perform live during the shows.Widdi wrote:Bye bye Michael. To be honest, I think the two of you are being a bit ridiculous. The group song was so obviously taped, and equally irrelevant, that I can’t believe anyone cared. Yes, it is a singing competition, but they weren’t competing for anything and they can’t identify themselves within a group song, so I don’t see why it matters. If anything, it shows that their regular performances (that do matter) are not lip-synced because they were so bad at it.

The folks at "American Idol" have never said that the results show group performance was live. If you listen closely the word 'live' is never mentioned on the results show when it comes to the group. It is just that sometimes they are better at lip-syncing than other times. One of the best groups was the final five of season five. I would dare you to watch a tape of that show, and tell me who was live and who was lip-syncing.
The reason they do this is to spend more time with the choreography. They only have a couple of days to put it all together because each of the contestants is busy getting their song arranged and ready for the performance night.

The Final Nine put on their show tonight and if we don't say goodbye to Megan Joy after this 'intolerable' performance of "my favorite song", I will join those of you who think that this show is fixed.
Yes, Anoop was very weak, and I think Matt Giraud is going to also find himself in the bottom three again.
Danny, Scott, and Kris Allen were at the top of their game. Lil Rounds is still not impressing the judges, and Allison was gigged for the clothes she was wearing, which I thought was a perfect outfit for the song she was singing.
Bottom three this week will probably be Matt, Anoop and Megan - with the lady with that horrible tattoo going home.

My rankings...
1. Kris - Easily the best of the night and his best performance yet.
2. Allison - This sounded great and while the outfit/hair were a little out of control, it's absurd that these professional judges spent all their time dwelling on that and barely mentioning the vocals (except Simon, who inexplicably accused her of shouting).
3. Anoop - I'm pulling for Anoop but have to admit this was a weak performance. That said, it was much better than the judges gave him credit for. The vocals were good on the whole -- just a bad song choice. Even though it wasn't my favorite, it's still #3 in the very weak line-up we were served tonight.
4. Danny - It was alright but pitchy (which no one called him on)... I like his voice but grow less impressed each weak.
5. Lil Rounds - This was her best performance to date but that's not saying much... the judges keep saying that she has a good voice and maybe we'll hear it next week. I think we've waited long enough. It's time everyone stops expecting a big powerhouse voice out of her just because she fits Idol's token "big black woman" slot. She doesn't have the voice.
6. Scott - Still can't stand him but he sounded fairly good tonight. He bores me but this was one of his better performances.
7. Matt - Terrible song choice and that's really all there is to it. The judges' comments were spot-on. I like Matt but this was no good.
8. Megan - She's been worse but it was still bad. Time to go.
9. Adam - Where was Simon's usual "cabaret!" line tonight? Over the top and not at all current or commercial. How could Paula compare him to Steven Tyler? The high-pitched squeal novelty is bound to wear off for people soon.
My votes tonight went to Anoop, Kris, and Allison.
Bottom 3 Prediction: Megan, Scott, Anoop
Going Home Prediction: Megan (with no save from judges)
If Megan goes home, I wonder if Vote For the Worst will be bold enough to make Scott their next pick, and if so, will they result to their usual pathetic cheap-shots at the contestant's appearance?

Ding Dong.........She's Gone.........the Tattooed witch is gone..........
Ding Dong........Megan Joy is now just a faded memory. Unfortunately she might be the main reason why I won't go see the American Idol Summer Tour this year, because I will have to put up with her ugly tattoo, and her lack of talent.
I was shocked to see Allison in the bottom three, but am so glad that it wasn't Anoop that bit the dust.
David Cook was fantastic, and presenting him with his Platinum Award was icing on the cake.
Does anyone even think that Lady GaGa has any talent. She was terrible, and what is with that gawdy makeup job. "Poked in the Face" in what she looked like, and maybe it is just my age, but I was bored to tears with her three minutes of fame. Won't find its way in my music collection that is for sure.
Next week the Top Eight sing the song from the year they were born. This should prove to be very interesting for some of those on the borderline of not-making it the rest of the way.

Haven’t posted since the performance night, so… Kris Allen, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey and Scott MacIntyre were the best of the night for me. Allison was okay, and she’s still my favorite, but she didn’t really stand out (and I wasn’t surprised to see her in the bottom three again). Lil was also boring and horrible, proving that I won’t have any interest in her once she’s left Idol (and I hope she leaves soon). And I’m starting to love Adam Lambert, just because he’s outrageous.
Anoop and Megan were terrible, and finally my thoughts were reflected in the results. Thankfully Megan went (she’s needed to go the past 3 weeks). And the “caw?” Wtf? But it was kind of funny the way everyone reacted. And I liked how Simon responded to the, “I don’t care” comment. If they’d saved her, I’d be totally pissed off. Also, Megan's tattoo doesn't remotely bother me--her voice is the problem.
As for David Cook, I wish he would've sung in a higher range. I know he's trying to conserve his voice for 20 billion shows that are coming up, but I would've hoped for American Idol he would've at least gone the distance. Still, I like David Cook, and his CD, even if I didn't particularly like that performance. And Lady Gaga sounds better with "Just Dance."

Didn't get to see the performance show this week as I was on a train headed to Toronto at the time. Caught part of the results show last night and can't say I'm disappointed to see Megan go, but I totally loved the fanservice she offered to the VFTW people by cawing and flapping on the way to the stools. Absolutely priceless. Great to see the contestants knowing that this show isn't as serious as the pompous judges try to make it seem.
VFTW's next pick won't be Scott. They HATE him and they don't pick people they hate until at least the final 5. And they don't always make fun of people's appearances, only when they have a really good joke to go along with it (comparing Allison to a troll doll for example... which in all honesty she does look like...). For Megan they latched onto her bird-like tendencies, with Archuletta they made fun of his stage dad and with Brooke they targeted her insanely active-tear ducts and those are just a few examples. I have no doubt they'd make fun of Scott's blindness though... but hey, all's fair in love and idol.

So, I was just catching up on some Corbin news, and the Ford music video that the Idols just did featured Corbin's song "Mixed Up"!!!
http://www.americanidol.com/videos/seas ... ic_videos/
What a weird song choice (and it was never even a single!), and they weren't as good as Corbin, and he was never mentioned (he even wrote the song!), but it's neat that they used a song of his!!!

Completely. If check out VFTW's website they always mentioned her cawing. It was total fanservice.
Lots of contestants know about and have fun with VFTW. Taylor Hicks actually wore a votefortheworst.com t-shirt to a couple interviews a few days after he won. Other contestants have even joined the website's forum and post regularly.
