Thanks for these pics "lighthousemike", I have my PS3 that came with a built-in Blu-Ray player, but I don't own it yet, if I'm thinking about getting a Disney film on Blu-Ray someday, will have to wait and see. I will get the DVD instead when it comes out in 2 weeks.
It's been about 31 years since I first saw this Disney movie in a theater back in late 1978 along with the re-release of "The Small One", I was about 3 months old when I was still in diapers, my parents took me to the movies to see "Pinocchio" which was the very first Disney film I ever saw in my life.
I love the restoration of this great film, but I'm dying to get it! This movie brings back memories. 1978 was a good year for a Disney reissue. "Pinocchio" has been one of my all-time favorites Disney film since I saw it at the very beginning of my life. "The Small One" was a great Disney short film, but it's 30 minutes long, and it was a holiday classic, I missed the first half of the film right before "Pinocchio" started. "The Small One" was included on the "Classic Holiday Stories" DVD.
If I can get the DVD when it comes out in 2 weeks, I will watch "The Small One" first, and then put in "Pinocchio" and bingo! Just like the way it looked when it was since I first saw this movie back in 1978.
What a great memory that I remember so much. There was one scene that I do remember is the ending to "The Small One" where it shows a bright star in Bethlehem where baby Jesus was born. After it ends, it goes right into the opening credits to "Pinocchio". This is a pic of what the ending might looked like right before "Pinocchio".
After that, the opening credits roll where it says "Pinocchio" in the title card.
After watching this film as I first saw it in a theater, there was one final scene that I remember was the ending to the movie. I cried and cried and I saw the ending to this great film where they showed a star in the sky as the song fades into the end title, and then, while the end title was shown, the curtain was closed while "The End" still shown towards the fade out. What a great memory that has been, they're were applause at the audience and that film that got me into Disney so much. That's where my Disney journey began. If you haven't seen the ending title to this film when I first saw it at a theater, here it is.
I hope "lighthousemike" would love to see the restoration of the end title in this Platinum Edition when it comes out, if you have it, please post. Thanks for showing these pics from the Platinum Edition release of "Pinocchio", one of my all-time favorite Disney film and it was the very first Disney film I ever saw since I was a baby.
