Hilary Duff's 'Reach Out' Music Video Censored
TV bosses have censored Hilary Duff’s latest music video.
The video for “Reach Out,” a new track featured on Hil’s upcoming Greatest Hits album, has been branded to too raunchy for American television, new reports claim.
'Reach Out' features the young popstar posing in bondage gear and a blindfold, but it is the footage of Duff licking a male actor’s finger like a lollipop that has the FCC flipping a wig.
Hilary has been forced to delete the clip from the music video.
I really like the video, and I don't see much wrong with it...surely there are worse things on TV than a person licking another person's finger...?
Oh, and

http://fashionrules.com/2008/11/fashion ... interview/
(via http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/ )
Fashion Rules! was lucky enough to meet up with Hilary Duff last week, as she took a tiny break after making three films, “Greta,” “Stay Cool,” and “Safety Glass” – and finished cutting two new singles and videos for a new greatest hits collection that’s coming out this month.
But who cares about that trivia? We wanted to know about FASHION – and PERFUME! Hilary was wearing jeans, a t-shirt, a turquoise boyfriend cardigan, a men’s fedora, and her hair was back to blonde, after she’d gone brunette for a movie, “War Inc.”
So here’s a snippet of our interview with the woman who’s made somewhere around 30 or 40 million dollars just on her tween line, “Stuff by Hilary Duff”
FASHION RULES!: So, Hilary, what’s the future of “Stuff by Hilary Duff”?
HILARY DUFF: Well, I’m going to discontinue the line, actually. I don’t really want to continue to design clothing for girls who aren’t my age – I just turned 21, and I tend to shop at Barneys and Satine and Curve, and mix up designer pieces with less expensive pieces – it’s a very Los Angeles and New York way of dressing. And I didn’t have full control of that line anymore. We had some very good years in terms of money, but I can hardly take credit for all of that – I didn’t do it on my own. And anyway, I’m too young to be thinking about only money all the time.
FASHION RULES: But you still love clothes, we can assume?
HILARY DUFF: More than ever. That will never go away. But I want to design clothes for women my own age, that’s what excites me now. That’s a challenge to me. In about two weeks, I’m going to announce that I’ve signed a deal with a big clothing company – a fairly mainstream one – and I’m going to design a line for them for the next few years. I already like what they do, so I’m very excited by the opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.
FASHION RULES: Do you feel like this is something you HAVE to do, just because the Olsen Twins, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and all those celeb girls are doing clothing lines?
HILARY DUFF: Hardly. I’ve never done things before they were expected of me. In my new video for “Reach Out,” I wear little shorts – but then I wear a tulle gown. I’ve worn short wigs in videos, long hair, I change my hair color all the time – in fact, I’m feeling the mood to change it now! I really go with my mood and what inspires me. And I don’t think I dress like anyone else.
FASHION RULES: And you are doing a third perfume with Elizabeth Arden?
HILARY DUFF: Yes, we’re in the midst of that now – deep into it. You have to have the name approved in every country before you can move forward – if one country’s language interprets it in some kind of negative way, we can’t use that name and have to start over – so it’s a long process. But I’ve learned so much about the process from the people at Arden – I have approvable of everything, and I chose the flowers and scents and notes by their smells but also by their symbols. It’s really really creative.
FASHION RULES: And you are leaving your record company, Hollywood Records, owned by Disney?
HILARY DUFF: Yes. I want to make my next record on my own and release it myself – it’s the new way of doing music. I want to do it in my own time and go with my own direction – same as with the clothes. I want to see where it all takes me. I’ve been working so hard for a long time – and I just turned 21 – so it’s time to do it my way!!!

Here's the censored version of "Reach Out":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN6p6zCbjJw
It's not very different at all, but it does remove the finger-licking.

Hilary Duff to star in new NBC show
Actress signs development deal with network
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER
Hilary Duff is returning to TV, signing a pact with NBC to star in a new series.
Under terms of the one-year talent and development deal, Peacock will develop a show starring Duff; thesp will also be tapped to guest star in various current NBC shows.
The Duff series would be produced by Universal Media Studios. Deal was announced by NBC Entertainment/ Universal Media Studios co-chairman Ben Silverman.
Duff will meet with writers and comb through the Peacock's development for the right project to star in.
Duff starred in a 2004 CBS pilot that wasn't picked up to series; since then, she's focused on her music and movie careers. The actress starred in this year's "War, Inc.," and will next be seen in the 2009 features "Safety Glass," "Stay Cool" and "Greta."
She first rose to fame as the star of the Disney Channel's "Lizzie McGuire" (which later spawned "The Lizzie McGuire Movie"). She then appeared in features such as "Agent Cody Banks," "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Raise Your Voice."
In signing Duff, NBC Entertainment exec VP Teri Weinberg cited the thesp's "huge following" and versatility as a young talent. As a singer, Duff's album "Metamorphosis" sold more than 2 million copies and spawned several hit singles.

I thought the finger thing was disgusting. not the finger licking itself, but what it symbolizes. if you don't know what it is, I wont mention it, but its clearly meant to get guys thinking about a certain something. I don't think she should have done that at all. censoring it doesn't make it any better in my eyes, unless she regreted doing it in the first place.blackcauldron85 wrote: I don't see much wrong with it...surely there are worse things on TV than a person licking another person's finger...?
I just think it sucks that shes turning out like the rest of these slutty pop stars. I thought she was the one girl who was above all that.

Have you seen Hilary drinking, doing drugs, smoking, getting in car accidents, losing custody of her children, having sex with every guy in Hollywood, posing for nude pictures, paryting everynight, having eating disorders, acting stupid, or anything else these numerous female celebrities have been doing? Question answered.

So, apparently, Miss Duff is going to be Bonnie Parker of the new adaptation to the Bonnie and Clyde saga: The Story of Bonnie and Clyde. Kevin Zegers will take over the role of Clyde Barrow.
I for one am interested in this (because of Kevin Zegers - imo a great and underrated actor)...but I'm not sure if Hilary can take on such a role. But then again, who knows, maybe she'll surprise me and prove to everyone she has the chops for it.
But, Faye Dunaway was none too happy w/ the choice in casting and I'm surprised at what Hilary said in response.

The Duff should not diss the Dunaway. And I agree with Dunaway's remark: "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?" Sure, Faye could've worded it better, but she's been known to be a bit of an unrepentant loose cannon. The Duff, however, made a really bad choice with the whole "if I looked like her" insult. You do not insult Hollywood royalty like that. The woman played JOAN CRAWFORD for pete's sake. And when you play Joan Crawford, you've played the role of a lifetime. Duff is a horrible actor with the resume to prove it. And the part of Bonnie should go to someone who can handle it as well as Faye did 42 years ago.
Regarding Zegers as Clyde...maybe now he won't always be called "that Air Bud kid".
He was good in Transamerica, though, and his small role in The Jane Austen Book Club (a high school student who tempts Emily Blunt, who plays his teacher) was okay for what it is.

While the Duff shouldn't have insulted her, that comment wouldn't have happened if Dunaway kept her mouth shut or worded it better.
On Dunaways remark, Duff may not be the most amazing actress ever but she does have acting experience which does make her a "real actress" I don't know how someone could not be considered a real actor/tress if they have starred in movies and a t.v series

See my reply to first sentence on my thoughts on this.Sure, Faye could've worded it better, but she's been known to be a bit of an unrepentant loose cannon. The Duff, however, made a really bad choice with the whole "if I looked like her" insult.
On the Hollywood Royalty subject. That's a bit of a contradiction/double standard I'm not sure which or it may be both. So what your saying is people can't insult Hollywood Royalty like that yet they can make snide comments and insults to the newer generation(s) of actors? Sorry Scaps but I found your comment on that very stupid. Regardless of who the person is if they say something snide like that the person will turn around and defend themself. It's better to just (in Fayes case) shut up and not say anything in the first place.
On the "she played Joan Crawford" comment. Is this some way of trying to back up the whole "you don't insult Hollywood Royalty" thing, or a way of defending Faye? Because it's rather poor, who cares who she played that has nothing to do with it really, yeah she played Joan Crawford that's a totally different subject.

I was being facetious and silly since Mommie Dearest is such a camp movie (which is where the whole "Hollywood Royalty" came from, as that's what LB Mayer called Joan before he fired her, and what the DVD is called). And honestly (and seriously), I think Faye really was spot-on with her "can't they cast a real actress?" criticism. Because what the Duff does isn't acting. It's "acting" in the sense of she knows her lines and when to deliver them. But her emotions are fake and fall flat. She phones it in without realizing it. Give her a role that can prove her worth first before she gets a role like Bonnie Parker. And even then I don't think she'd do it justice because I just don't like the Duff. She's just plain annoying and has a very pretentious attitude in her acting.
And regarding the whole idea of "young stars should not diss the great stars, but it's okay for great stars to diss the young ones" being contraditory/hypocritical, well it all depends on how you look at it. The great stars can offer their own criticisms because they're much more experienced and know the business much better than a young star. Faye's criticism may not have been worded correctly (as I said), but she's right in her criticism because she knows how complex the role can be, and in her view, the Duff wouldn't be able to do it justice because her acting experience (in Faye's view) is not good enough for the role. So for a young star to shoot her mouth off like the Duff did with the whole "I might be mad if I looked like that too", it's both insulting and pure ageism on her part, especially with the earlier "My fans probably don't know who she is anyway." Never underestimate the fans, Hils. You never know how many of them have actually seen movies made before 1995.

Starting with the first paragraph, honestly it did come across as more serious just because of everything that had been said before it. Plus I do have a hard time telling serious from silly on forums etc. so it's also a bit my bad.Escapay wrote:

I think considering a bulk of Duffs career was with Disney it's no wonder she isn't as great an actress, I mean they hire hacks like...the guy that plays Corey on Corey in the House (sorry my minds blanking on his name) Plus, Disney doesn't really seem to put much effort in making their stars better actors, that might be a factor in her lack of emotions etc.
While the great stars can offer criticism's it's also a bit of a fine line between helpful criticism and insults, like in this case. Faye just took it too far, and understandably Duff did make snide comments back. Like I said if Faye had worded it properly it might not have gone this far. If she thinks Duff can't handle the role then why not help her? or offer to at least.
I do agree Duff shouldn't have said that, but Faye is also rather in the wrong no matter how on target she might be.
No hard feelings Scaps? I'm in a bad mood these last few days and don't mean to come across as grumpy towards you (or anyone else here for that matter)

No worries, Cherny. When it comes to discussion about Faye Dunaway, there's a fine line between serious discussion and NO WIRE HANGERS EVER campiness.

Phooey on Dunaway! *spit* Inexcusable comment! Make more than a handful of movies I like and I'll care. On the other hand, I find all of Hilary's work appealing, campy as much of it is, because Hilary is just so appealing.
I'm dreading a big Bonnie and Clyde sex scene though.
Anyways, yeah, good for Hilary for defending herself!
