:o You haven't seen it Laz? I thought out of all UD member you'd have been the one who would have. I mean it was the film that started Vincent's horror acting career.

Anyway, yes, it was all in 3-D but there's a 2-D version too. I need to see all of it now myself, but I got to find a way to watch this in 3-D. In the mean time, I think I'll watch House on Haunted Hill (after seeing House of Usher, I have this urge to watch a bunch of Vincent Price horror films).

You should. Though, you might have trouble getting ahold of them. MGM had a whole line of them and put some of them out of print. I would seriously avoid the boxset they made though. There's only like 7 movies and they're all scattered throughout the 60's and 70's. There's a huge difference between House of Usher and something like Theater of Blood. All Price's horror films starting with 1968's Witchfinder General are relentlessly depressing.

I recommend if you can find 'em:

Pit and the Pendulum (which is on the double feature with House of Usher)
Tales of Terror / Twice Told Tales (on a double feature)
The Raven / Comedy of Terrors (on a double feature)
Masque of the Red Death / Premature Burial (on a double feature)
Tower of London / Haunted Palace (see above)
and Tomb of Ligeia

I've seen all those. But not House of Wax. Yet.

Also, The Tingler. It's another William Castle film, the director of House on Haunted Hill. It's not as good but it's almost as much fun.

In random order, and I'm missing a TON of stuff:

Mr. Deeds - the impromptu singing of David Bowie's "A Space Oddity"

Lili - the puppets first talking to Lili

Goonies - Chunk telling the Fratellis how he pretended to throw up in the theater.

The Princess Bride - the poison scene, AND "I am Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to DIE!"

Duck Soup - the Mirror scene with Groucho and "Groucho".

The Producers - "I'm Hysterical!" *SPLASH* "I'm WET! I'm wet, and I'm Hysterical!"

Young Frankenstein - "Would you like a roll in ze hay?" "Roll, Roll, roll in ze hay!"

Airplane - "Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?"

Total Recall - "Get ready for a surprise!" as the fake head comes off.

Anger Management - "I feel pretty"

Mrs. Doubtfire - When Robin Williams sticks his face in the cake, and says "Ooh, Hellooo!"

The Fifth Element - when the guy tries to rob Dallas, while wearing a hat that looks like the hallway.

Ice Pirates - the "almost" castration scene, and the time warp sword fight.

Every time I say "Get off me" to anyone, I say it the way Mrs. White says it to Professor Plum in that one part where they're trying to deceive the cop.

Anyways, here are some movie moments in no particular order, wll, except in the order that they pop into my head:

1. Breakfast at Tiffany's - Holly Golightly singing "Moon River" on her window sill
2. Curly Top - "Animal Crackers in My Soup"
3. It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World - All the men are hanging onto the freaking tall ladder and it starts swinging back and forth and throwing them off into trees and what not.
4. Bringing Up Baby - Susan accidentally rips David's tuxedo jacket and says, "Ohhh, you tore your coat."
5. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl - When you first see Captain Jack:

I'd like to see that. :D However, I just wouldn't be me if I didn't point out that it wasn't when the cop was there. It was when Miss Scarlett found the photographs of Col. Mustard and Yvette inflagrante-dilecto.

Mrs. White: Oh my, nobody can get into that position.

Professor Plum: Sure they can, let me show you.

(he lays her on the couch and raises her legs, kneeling between them)

Mrs. White: Get off me!

rotfl

I also love Mrs. White's famous "Yes, I did it. I killed Yvette. I hated her SO MUCH...flames, flames, FLAMES...on the side of my face..."

ohhh yeah! woops thanks for pointing that out. but, yeah, it's fun to say it that way all the time. you can tell if someone knows the movie b/c they'll either laugh or get offended at the tone lol.

More moments:

Titanic - The hand on the car window scene. Out of context, like when playing scene it, people think it's from a horror movie lol

The Notebook - "Say I'm a bird!" and the rain kiss

The Breakfast Club - the whole "We Are Not Alone" montage of them dancing and when Allison shakes the dandruff out of her hair[/i]

That's what I said to my two cousins (both in their 20s, so they definitely saw the movie more than once)...well, more like I said, "Dude, what the hell! It's a chick flick and you two are chicks!" One even admitted she thought it was an alien's hand from a sci fi movie.

While these movies are a bit too recent to make my list just yet, I also want to give special mention to the theater firefight in Inglorious Basterds and Bill Murray's cameo in Zombieland. Both movies seem to be doing well for me months after though, so they should make it on here eventually.

Just some great scenes:

The entire scene in Teabing's library in The Da Vinci Code, where Teabing reveals "the greatest cover-up in human history".

Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson kissing in Vicky Christina Barcelona.

"English, motherfucker! Do you speak it?!": Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta visit some petty criminals during breakfast in Pulp Fiction

The entire wedding sequence at the beginning of The Godfather, with the beautiful contrast between the bright, joyful celebration going on outside and the dark, dirty business in the Don's office.

Frodo going fishing at the end of The Godfather- Part II, intercut with Michael in his office.

Al Pacino's silent scream at the stairs at the end of The Godfather- Part III, and the lonely death of Michael Corleone, falling out of his chair.

Michael J. Fox playing 'Johnny B. Goode' in Back to the Future.

Jimmy Cagney breaking down at the end of Angels with dirty faces, filmed in silhouette.

The entire sequence in I'm not there where Stephen Malmkus' rendition of 'Ballad of a thin man' is played. Very surreal, yet so fitting for the song, and the best cover in music history. Best scene in great film.

Tuco running madly across the graveyard, searching for that one partcular grave in The good, the bad and the ugly.

The surprise twist ending at the end of Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari. And remember, this is 1920!

Michael Douglas trying to order breakfast in a fastfood restaurant with his machine gun in Falling Down.

Lester Burnham laying eyes on Angela for the first time during his daughter's cheerleading performance in American Beauty.

The chief of police suddenly connecting all the dots at the end of The usual suspects.

Benjamin fighting his way out of a church with his big love, the newly-wed Elaine, using a crucifix, in The Graduate.

"Attica! Attica! Attica!": bankrobber and hostage-taker Al Pacino wins over the crowd watching the tragedy unfold in Dog Day Afternoon.

The parade sequence where Ferris is singing 'Twist and shout' in Ferris Bueller's day off.

That one is brilliant. And, you know, it's true what Jules says about french fries in Holland: they literally *drown* them in mayonnaise! I hate that!

I forgot to add scenes from these movies to my list. These are great ones, but I could pick just about anything from either one of these movies on my list, particuarly the ending of Part I.

The delivery of the final line, "Don Corleone", on top of the brilliant orchestration and perfectly timed door slamming? Magnificent.
Goliath wrote:Lester Burnham laying eyes on Angela for the first time during his daughter's cheerleading performance in American Beauty.
Another classic. I already added one scene from American Beauty on my list, but if I was to add another besides this to my list, it would be Carolyn's real estate pitch sequence, ending with her breaking into tears and taunting herself after an unsuccessful day. It's funny what a repeat can make scenes such as this that meant little on a first viewing stand out as essential bits of character while viewing it again.
Goliath wrote:The chief of police suddenly connecting all the dots at the end of The usual suspects.
"Who is Keyser Soze? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. He's gone."

What an unforgettable twist. Still gold.

After watching Casablanca again today, I also want to add the entirety of the movie to my list, possibly at #4. Forget Rick's last delivery of "Here's looking at you, kid". There isn't one weak scene or line in this classic.
