I was doing my list online at dvdspot.com before it went bellyup which was the second time I had been running a list and the site died so now I am working on making my own list with excell and making a book with printed out pages that have them catergorized and with the imgage of DVD covers on it about 20 per page. I am not quite up to date on my list but I am pretty sure my total number of DVD's is now over 3,000 which includes just about every disney release other than the alot of the playhouse disney ones.

I guess for the RICH DVD collector, that's a good investment. :shock: :shock: :shock:
Well, the collector who has about 300 dvds (or more) probably has the 30 dollars for the registration as well :). There are free alternatives too, of course. Or you can just add all your titles in the Profiler, and pay for it when it's best for you.
I have over 400 now. But keep in mind, I've been collecting since 2001. Some other people can afford to buy more and have bought over 1,000 discs in only maybe 3 years. I've been collecting for over 7. But then I like my collection small.

And I don't even like spending $30 on a single DVD, let alone a service that just posts my collection. In fact, I haven't spent over $20 on a DVD since I bought the out-of-print special editions of The Exorcist and The Stepford Wives, which was years ago.

I'll be perfectly fine with DVDAf. At least they don't charge money!

One good thing about DVD Profiler is that it is software, stored on your computer (as well as an online website.)

If the company goes belly-up (DVDSpot, Guzzlefish, etc.,) you still have all the info on your computer, and you can add new titles even if the internet doesn't exist any more...

=====

I say all that, and I haven't used DVD Profiler for at least 3 years... Like I said before, my computer is ancient, and I ran into a problem with the old version crashing on my system.

Papa Bear, you should take a look at it, the print-outs that you are doing sound exactly like one of the many user-created reports that the program has.

Once I get a new computer, I will definitely consider spending the $30. I know it's hard to blow money on something for the DVD colection that isn't actually DVDS! :P

=====

On a side note, I see these huge DVD shelves that would probably hold a good chunk of my collection, but then I see the price tag ($200-300,) and I think I could spend that on DVDs instead.

However, when I realize I have spent many times that on the DVD collection, it would make sense to buy some good shelves that would keep me from having stacks of DVDs scattered about the house.

Thanks littlefuzzy I will take a look at that.

But as for storage I got to the point where keeping the DVD's in their original cases was a little impractical for the space I have to store them so I now keep all mine in these cases from Slappa.

I use these ones for movies each one will hold 90 covers and discs and then I store the bonus disc behind the cover:

And I use these ones for my TV shows each one holds 600 Discs:

But I have just started using these instead for teh TV shows they each hold 360 discs:

The cases are great very durable and keep the discs in great condition.
