Atari 2600 - Combat came with the system, and I got Space Invaders at the same time - both were Christmas presents. I have tons of 2600 carts and still play them!

First of all, I just want to say how happy it makes me to know there are people that enjoy my favorite hobby. I honestly never expected any of you to own multiple consoles (save the PS3 for Blu-Ray).

Oh man... You expect me to remember back 30 years+ and almost 1000 games??

Well, lets see (in the approximate purchase order):
These are the consoles I bought during the systems' lives:

• Colecovision - I can't remember, unfortunately I sold my Colecovision and Atari Adaptor It might have been a pack-in, maybe Donkey Kong?
• Atari 2600 adaptor for the Colecovision - possibly something like Star Raiders (w/ the keypad), I think I bought it and a couple of other clearance titles before I had the system. I'd take them to a friend's house.
• Nintendo Entertainment System - most likely the pack-ins, Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt
• Sega Genesis - The pack-in, Altered Beast
• Sega Master System Power-Base converter for Genesis - Shanghai (which was unfortunately one of the few games not playable on the converter unless you had a Master System controller...)
• TurboGrafx 16 - Keith Courage in Alpha Zones (the pack-in)
• Game Boy - Tetris (pack-in)
• Dreamcast - probably Blue Stinger, Sonic Adventure, and Virtua Fighter 3TB (all Japanese, since I bought a Japanese Dreamcast and those games at a used game store)
• Playstation 2 - It's hard to say, I found a photo of my new PS2 system and 32 games (see below)
• Gamecube - Metroid Prime (pack-in)
• Gameboy Advance - possibly Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, or Sword of Mana (see below)
• Nintendo DS (lite) - possibly Brain Age, but I don't think it was a pack-in
• X-Box - Possibly Halo, Halo II, or Elder Scrolls 3. I bought games before I had the system.
• PSP (no hardware) - Death Jr. Limited Edition, I think (I have about 10 games for the system for when I get one.)
• Wii (no hardware) - Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors - I'm a Dragon Quest fan, and it was 10 bucks.
• X-Box 360 (no hardware) - The Simpsons Game (10 bucks on black friday)

I also have the following systems, purchased after they were obsolete. All games were purchased used, and I might have bought stacks of them at a time:

**Regarding the PS2, PS1, Gameboy Advance, and a few other titles, I traded in something like 90 DVDs when Blockbuster gave $8 minimum on traded DVDs, so I ended up with about $400 or so.

I extended that with some game trades - trade in 3 games, get the credit for those, AND get any used game for 10 bucks. I would trade in three crappy EA games (probably purchased on a 3 for 10 or cheaper deal,) and get something like Halo 2, with a $35 trade-in value. Then I'd trade it and two more crappy games, get another $10 game, AND have about 25 extra in credit...

That enabled me to get a GameBoy Advance, Game Cube, PS2, PS1, and lots of games for all of those systems and older systems like the SNES and N64... Because of that, I got many games all at once, so I'm not sure which ones were actually first.

I've owned an Atari 2600, my sister had a Sega Genesis, and I have a PS1 and PS3 (that unfortunately does not play PS2 games).

Unfortunately, I can't remember which games I got first. Possibly Pac Man with the Atari, possibly Resident Evil 2 for PS1... Maybe not. For the PS3 I only own one game: Star Wars Force Unleashed. I never buy many games, and I guess I'm not much of a "gamer" since my main interest is in games based on popular franchises (I mean, movies, cartoon characters, etc...), because I'm more into movies and cartoons than anything else.

Sadly, by sticking to those kinds of games, you are missing out on all the good ones... It's well known in gaming circles that most "franchise" games are just put out quickly and cheaply to tie-in to the movie or TV show, and the critical reviews of those games are usually pretty bad.

It's kind of like a Disney fan who doesn't watch ANY of the original Animated Classics, just the cheap sequels that are cranked out for video release...

That being said, there are some good games that are based on Franchises... You might take a look at the Lego games: Lego Star Wars (GREAT FUN!), Lego Indiana Jones, and Lego Batman (I haven't played any of that one yet.)

Also, for your PS3, download Flower, and then there is one I can't recall the name of, that is based on the old Break Out or Arkanoid style games; but you hit huge animated objects, like pirates, sharks, desert islands, and pirate ships. Both of those games are very fun!

Yeah, I've heard that (my 2 best friends are gamers), but most of the other stuff doesn't appeal to me with their storylines, or I try them and don't find them very fun. And more importantly, I don't have the time to play all THAT much. I don't buy just any franchise games though. I do wish they'd make a good zombie themed game for the PS3 though; I love those. And, actually, I tried the Lego Indiana Jones demo and, despite being an Indy fanatic, didn't like it that much.
