Not necessarily. Some of them were flawless to begin with. Mine was.slave2moonlight wrote:Still need to by True Life Adventures vol. 4 and have that replaced.

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll be posting in this.
I just received my More Silly Symphonies set. I've only given it a quick look, and it seems most of the shorts are very nicely restored (I had misgivings since this came out with Pluto Vol. 2 which is rather unimpressive restoration wise in comparison with earlier Treasures).
However, I have an issue with The Goddess of Spring. It looks (and sounds) terrible! Unless I am mistaken, it seems to be identical to the version that appeared on the 2001 Snow White DVD. Moreover, a couple of seconds from the opening score are missing. I believe that on disc 1 of the set, a short clip of the short is shown in Maltin's introduction. Ironically, it looks much better in that short clip than in its full version.
Could this be an error similar to this year's Donal Vol. 4, where an unrestored version of Working for Peanuts seems to have been included on the set?
Finally, I'm aware that back in 2006 Disney offered to replace people's discs of this set because of (if I recall) incorrect title cards. Can one still have his/her discs replaced if they live in Europe?
If it's too much trouble I won't bother. But if the Goddess restoration was fixed in the updated discs, I'd certainly try giving it a shot.
By the way ... will I be getting any more nasty surprises re audio/video quality on this set? After all I only played a couple of shorts.
Thanks

Yes you can. Go here: http://studio.go.com/cgi-bin/gmail/generic_mail.cgi?template=video/dvd_report_a_problem/report.tpl and explain that you're after the replacement discs.Julian Carter wrote:Finally, I'm aware that back in 2006 Disney offered to replace people's discs of this set because of (if I recall) incorrect title cards. Yes, they did improve Goddess Of Spring on the reissued discs. If it's too much trouble I won't bother. But if the Goddess restoration was fixed in the updated discs, I'd certainly try giving it a shot.
Aside from a couple of the b/w films which presumably have suffered damage on the surviving materials, the rest of the contents are pretty good.By the way ... will I be getting any more nasty surprises re audio/video quality on this set? After all I only played a couple of shorts.
For full chapter and verse on the flaws fixed by the replacements discs, go here.

You could, but I'd give them a phone call at this point, just so you know you've dealt with a human being and something will be done. I know it's a pain having to call internationally, but on the whole I find it's ultimately easier than an endless back-and-forth of emails.

Ok. I'm attempting to get mine swapped out and contacted them already. They sent me an envelope to place my materials in (including cases) and to send back out before they'll replace mine. I'm not sending my tin, do I really want to send the case back to them? I'm already hesitant about sending the movies back to them without having anything in hand first. Please help.
