What. the. frick.

First Wonderfalls, now this? How is it the really unique shows I watch keep getting the boot? Pushing Daisies was the only on-the-air series I kept up with along with Ugly Betty. I blame ABC for this more than anything. They advertised this show considerably less than their others. The lengthy primetime promo they have featuring various ABC actors had only one Pushing Daisies star in it. Want to know who it was? It was freaking Digby. I'll admit ABC handled this series better than Fox did for Wonderfalls, but that's not much of a praise. I hope the (tv?) movie gets greenlit. It already sucked enough for me to have a vague, pseudo-finale for Gilmore Girls. I don't need an all-out cliffhanger for Pushing Daisies.

This is exactly why I don't watch TV. You invest in a show, and either a) it jumps the shark, or b) it's snatched away from you.

And I know Albert wants another opinion other than mine, but I'll say the show holds up well to at least one repeated viewing. I watched season one as it aired, then again for the purpose of my DVD review. My review watching was just as good as the first time, and I often noticed things that slipped me by originally. I don't know how it holds to a third viewing, though. Something tells me Albert won't be able to resist the show, now, with all this cancellation hoopala.

Sad, sad day for quality television.
Pushing Daisies was the first show I really, really loved from the beginning so I am upset that ABC decided not to order more episodes.
Well done ABC by not advertising it. McPherson is such a liar when he tells Fuller on the phone that "they did the best they could for the show" or something along those lines.
I hope one of the cable-networks shows some interest in picking up a show with a relatively big and loyal fan-base and picks it up.
Or at least a movie to wrap it all up.

Plus, the first season is pretty cheap at 19$ at amazon.com for all 9 episodes.
Since you like Doctor Who a lot and rom/coms I think you're gonna like Pushing Daisies.
Cool, it's only $19? On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rank it, Dottie? Like, taking into account the rewatchability of the episodes, value of the bonus features, etc. Cause I've had some blindbuy TV shows on DVD where I thoroughly enjoyed it the first time around, but never really cared much for second or third viewings (like "Commander in Chief", which I thoroughly enjoyed on TV, enjoyed again when I reviewed the DVDs, but couldn't really get into it again after that). I read Kelvin's UD review so I have that to go by, but I wouldn't mind a few more second opinions, especially from fans of the show (who likely have already rewatched the episodes). Of course, I don't know if you have the DVD, but if you did...

Sorry for the double-post.

I'd definitely rate the show with a 10 (of course that is the fan-girl in me talking), but Pushing Daisies is so full of detail that I usually miss some things when I watch an episode for the first time, so I go back and watch it again and discover new things or I can concentrate on things that I liked a lot the first time.
Or I just listen a little harder to the very fast dialogue which is sometimes a tiny, little bit challenging for me, since English is not my first language.

I can only say that so far I have seen every Season 1 episode at least twice, I think I've seen the pilot 5 times so far and it never gets old, at least for me. The jokes are still fresh, the Awww! moments are still there and I start looking forward to my favorite parts.
I guess you can at least watch every episode 3 times before it might get boring for some people.

Objectively, I'd probably rate PD between 8.5 and 9 since the show is certainly not main-stream and some people might feel like the concept gets old, but then you always have to keep in mind that Daisies is as much a procedural as a character-movement show, but the character part moves a little slower. Kind of like Mad Men.
But then again Pushing Daisies does show the many layers of its characters and unfolds and changes dynamics in its first 9 episodes. Something some shows don't do for several seasons.

Well I'll just wait for the DVD to watch the unaired episodes of Pushing Daisies, I have held off buying the first season so I can buy the seasons together, because I am pretty sure that they will release a complete series version of Pushiing Daisies. It's really too bad, because this show deserved to at the very least have a full second season if not more, the biggest reason the ratings dropped was because of the writers strike. It's not the first time that a show got cancelled before it should have, Dead like me should of had more seasons as well.
