Pushing Daisies: Season 1 Discussion

Post by Dottie »

It's time of the fall TV show premieres and we already have a lot of threads about other shows, so I thought it was time to promote this one a bit, since it's so extraordinary that it might have some problems with the general audience:

Pushing Daisies

Premiere: Wednesday Oct. 3rd at 8/7 Central

Official abc.com website:

http://abc.go.com/primetime/pushingdaisies/index

Cast:

Lee Pace: Ned
Anna Friel: Charlotte Charles
Kristin Chenoweth: Olive Snook
Chi McBride: Emerson Cod
Aunt Lily: Swoosie Kurtz
Aunt Vivian: Ellen Greene

You can watch previews on abc.com and youtube. I had the opportunity to watch the pilot some weeks ago and absolutely loved it. It's different, it's funny, heart-warming, totally sweet and colorful full with quirky characters. An amazing show by Bryan Fuller (Wonderfalls, Dead like me) and one worth checking out.

I am so excited and hope the show will not be cancelled, it's too good!
So, who else will tune in?

I wanted to enjoy this, really, but the Pilot just failed to grab my attention. My Wednesday nights will be exclusively reserved for Gossip Girl.

I am sorry to hear that, Disney-Fan, but I guess since it is really kinda weird not everybody likes it. It all depends on personal taste.

Has anyone else already seen the pilot?

It's kind of like Tim Burton directed a TV show...

That's the exact same thing I thought when I saw the commercials.

I should have liked this a lot more than I did. I loved the aunts (well, I love Ellen Greene in anything, and I'm just thrilled to see her once a week!). I loved Lee Pace (so adorable!). I loved the writing, I loved the concept, I loved the Cheno (it never ceases to amuse me how short she is...), but I only liked the show. I have no idea why. It's something I will continue to check out, but maybe I was hoping to be more enthused at this point.

Also, Jim Dale as the narrator is genius. I love him.

This aired a day early here in Canada, on CTV; however, I used the second viewing to take in anything I might've missed the first time through. Seems like it has some potential, for sure... the pilot was certainly enjoyable. It also has a pretty different feel than most TVs do... the narration, colors and lighting made it feel like a mix of Tim Burton and the recent live-action Dr. Seuss adaptations.

I am already so excited about next week's episode. The preview looked great! Emerson's scream was hilarious!

The ratings were pretty good too with about 12.8 million viewers tuning in for the premiere which is actually more than I had expected. I hope the ratings keep going well, hopefully more than this week's and we might still get a full season!

I saw a preview of this yesterday on Entertainment Tonight, and it really caught my attention. It seems really good, I'm definitely going to be an avid watcher of it when it premieres on Australian television next year. Glad the ratings are doing well, it's the highest rated debut series of the season, I believe, in front of Bionic Woman and Private Practice even.

It reminds me a whole lot of Tim Burton. If I didn't already know the makers, I might have thought it was him.

With that said, this show is pure genius....which probably means it will be canceled. But I love it. I avoided it at first and then my friend told me about it. Thank you ABC for re-airing the pilot yesterday, I DVRed it and now the entire series is set to be recorded. I am watching it with my mom tonight, see what she thinks.

Kristin Chenoweth will be on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday.
Last time she taught Ellen how to sing opera, what will she do this time?
Excited!!
