"Hannah Montana": The Complete First Season

I'll be buying this, along with Life With Derek, just so Disney can see people WILL buy season sets.

I doubt this logic will work for a Hanna Montanna set. If anything it will only encourage Disney to make, well, more Hanna Montanna stuff.

Lol, Im defintiely gonna buy it. From the US even, not even from Australia, just to prove to Disney that season sets sell. We should all buy other Disney season sets at the same time too lol, like Lizzie McGuire and stuff, if we havent already. And def Life With Derek as well, if we can.
I should probably give this as a christmas pressie to all my friends as well. Hahaha. And they wanted indie film DVDs lol.....

Look, as to this fighting, let's just admit it's not gonna please everyone, this release and decision. Agree to disagree, coz its good as its a season set release, bad as it's just fuelling the mindless marketing necessity.

Choosing their most popular and currently "in" series for a season set is a very logical move. I don't know why you are so negative towards disney for making a good (though kind of obvious) move. Plus, releasing two series on DVD at once just means that one series is going to get over shadowed and subsequently lose promotion. Parent's aren't going to want to buy BOTH Lizzie Mcguire AND Hannah Montana for their whiny little children

Actually, you've got that all bass ackwards. First, anyone should be able to tell just by reading the other posts here how they are milking a cash cow, but to further explain: Disney has a HORRIBLE track record when it comes to releasing DVDs of their TV shows. In fact, they've released very few and have been known to discontinue the lines if they don't seem to be selling well. In fact, unless I'm forgetting something, they have yet to prove that they ARE willing to be loyal enough to their fans to complete a series release on DVD. Of course, Lizzie McGuire and Gargoyles are the best examples of this, but we're all rather nervous about the futures of the Disney Afternoon sets, and for good reason. To say that it is "completely normal for seasons to be released like this" is forgetting one very important point: it is NOT normal for Disney. They've never done it for any of their other Disney Channel shows before (not even Lizzie really, as that one set they gave us came pretty late in the game), and they have yet to do it. The only thing that has been proven normal for Disney lately is that they will go as far as they can to milk their two inexplicably successful cash cows, "Hannah Montana" and "High School Musical". Now, I'm not at all against this release, but it is still milking a cash cow, and not releasing any other shows, especially older shows (the wildly popular, and more justifiably popular, Kim Possible could have been a great choice), only serves to prove that point.

As for releasing two titles at once, no, it is a good tactic that is frequently used. These aren't movies in theaters; one doesn't overshadow the other, it draws attention to it. You release two titles at once so that one might call attention to the other, which sometimes is a less popular title. That's why Freakazoid was released along with Tiny Toons and why Disney has always released their Disney Afternoon sets in pairs. Believe it or not, it's a popular and effective marketing tactic. It's just like when the weekly adds have a DVD sale, they push a bunch of related titles together. They don't overshadow each other, and people in the mood to spend money because of one item are often willing to pick up two rather than just not bother to make a trip to the store for only one title. 2 is more to get excited about than one. But we don't even see a set for Raven or Zack and Cody, let alone Disney's much better/more DVD worthy shows of the past.

I will be buying this. I just hope that they release 'The Suite Life' next in complete season sets, it would be good promotion for the spin off 'Suite Life On Deck', which starts in next month. Of course, Disney won't release a complete season of TSL within a month, they should release it to promote TSLOD.

Like I said earlier, I doubt they will release anything else soon. I can see the 2nd season DVD set coming in time for the movie in May and then the eventual (and final) season 3 with the movie's DVD release in November.

And besides Hannah, I don't expect any other DCOMs to get a season DVD soon unless some take off like Hannah did. Wizards is close, but in comparison to how big Hannah exploded, WoWP is nothing.

I am extremely excited!!! However, I'm very skeptical. I haven't bought the Lizzie McGuire Season 1 set because Season 2 never came out. I think that if the HM Season 1 set sells well, other newer Disney Channel shows might have a shot, since kids these days have made Disney Channel more popular than it ever has been (from marketing standpoints, it is, at least)...what I'm saying is that, as much as I would LOVE older DC shows on DVD, I think that in Disney executives' minds, the newer DC shows are more guaranteed sales successes...kids have a lot of spending money...people in their 20s would be a big market for the older DC shows, but with the poor economy, they have to worry about paying for bills and whatnot.

I hate that DISNEY decided to start releasing season sets now because I hate all the crap on the Disney channel now I hope they release Evenstevens, Lizzie mcguire and That's so raven in season sets or even a big 9-disc COMPLETE SERIES then it wouldn't matter how well it sells we would have all the episodes.

(I know that you didn't actually push her off of a bridge, and I really hope you never do, but I just don't understand all the Miley-hate here at UD. Why would Disney put this out on the same day as WALL-E? I can see now that when parents and their kids are at the stores, they will only be allowed to pick ONE movie to buy. Majority of them will get Hannah.

Well on occasion she's taken away random half-hour increments of my life (though it's somewhat remedied by the presence of Emily Osment and Mitchell Musso), but beyond that, nothing really.

Majority of them will get Hannah.

Or they'll get WALL-E because it'll be cheaper. Plus, parents will be able to make the argument "You can watch Hannah every day on Disney Channel, we'll get this movie instead, it's new and that makes it special!"

Its understandable if you don't like Hannah Montana. Its very understandable if you hate how Disney focuses so much on her instead of their other properties. However, that shouldn't be reason enough to wish harm and death onto her.

Does she need to cool off a bit and Disney to not market her so much? Yes. Is death the solution? If you think yes, then you must be the typical pre teen internet dweller who finds solution in violence.
