I never saw Cheetah Girls 2, just the first one way back when it premiered, but I really like the concept for One World and I have to admit that I get a little excited everytime the music video comes on. I think they will do just fine without Raven. The three girls seem to be doing well for themselves without her (in fact, I believe their album TCG has sold way better than Raven's new one).

Yeah, some people I watched "Camp Rock" with mentioned this. But HSM2 had "ghosts", too...just watch the "Gotta Go My Own Way" scene. I think that 'they' (whoever 'they' is) have to decide whether to have a pop or Broadway-esque soundtrack; HSM has a more Broadway-esque soundtrack, while HSM2 & "Camp Rock" have, pretty much, pop soundtracks (a few HSM2 songs could go either way)...pop songs often have backup vocals, and often it has ad libs over the chorus, and things like that. Yes, it's kind of funny to hear Joe's voice in the background while we see him singing...I don't know what my point was. I guess that maybe the soundtrack was thought of first, and maybe they didn't realize that it'd look funny to have background vocals when only one person is supposed to be singing...Prince Ali wrote: I especially love when Eyebrows sings "Gotta Find You" to Mitchie. The vocals were great, especially the background vocals sung by the mystery people who were nowhere to be found. My guess is that Disney decided to use the Haunted High School Musical idea on Camp Rock instead, and the background vocals were sung by ghosts. Or, more realistically, the background singers could have been hiding behind a bush or something. But I, personally, like the ghost concept more. So I'm just gonna go with that.

I saw Camp Rock and was extremely bored. I thought the Spoiled Rock Star attitude was horrible it wore thin really fast and I ended up hating the guy even when he did change. Hated the main girl, she started out decent then became an idiot. As per usual Disney had to stick in a "stupid" character who as usual over-did it.
Actually I can't really think of any character I liked
All in all I'd buy it if it was on sale and I had nothing better to pick up at the moment, or if Disney Movie Rewards offered Double Points when it first comes out.

I turned the TV off after 15 minutes.

Well, ever since the "odd"-every-other-DCOM-being-a-musical fad finally got stuck in my head, I figured that any other future DCOM was trash. Why can't Disney go back to the older days with great movies like the original Halloweentown or Smart House or that one Horse movie? Oh well, gotta market to the tweens! But what will Disney do when people either a) grow up (not you Peter!) b) not watch Disney Channel c) figure out that Disney has made the exact same musical one billion times and/or d) tweens turn to other methods of getting their stupidity.Chernabog_Rocks wrote:^ Silly naieve me though it might get better towards the climax, lucky you had the foresight to turn it off.
By the way, love your avatar/signature TSoD

Thanks
I think your points A, B, and C go hand in hand, as tweens grow up they move on to other methods thus leaving behind Disney channel.
There's always a new generation of kids, thus a never ending new market to appeal to. So really I think Disney is the only way to make things go back to the older days, they need to remember their roots and go back to that. Until then we're stuck with Tweens'r'Us instead of Disney

I can't believe you hated Mitchie! I liked her but not the Jonas Brothers.Chernabog_Rocks wrote:I saw Camp Rock and was extremely bored. Actually I can't really think of any character I liked
"From this slumber, You shall wake
When true love's kiss, the spell shall break."

I'll agree with that. And I will admit that it does have a great soundtrack. I enjoyed almost all the songs, with the exception of a few.blackcauldron85 wrote:I guess that maybe the soundtrack was thought of first, and maybe they didn't realize that it'd look funny to have background vocals when only one person is supposed to be singing...

I watched Camp Rock last Friday. I would have otherwise avoided if my sister wasn't one of the crazy jonas-obsessed drones that there seems to be only a million of!
Anyway, it is painfully obvious that the makers of this film put little to no effort into making it a quality film, seeing as how they knew it was going to be a success no matter what.
And that's what sickens me about the Disney Channel lately. It seems whatever they put on their channel, no matter what it is, it's always a monster hit. They are well aware of this, so they churn out whatever measley crap they can and it's a hit! Gone are the days when stuff was successful based on how good it was...
This film is a prime example of that "measley crap" Disney just churns out and it turns to gold.
The Jonas Brothers, as already stated, are in high need of acting lessons if they are to ever act again. But, I have to say, as bad as they were, I could not stand the girl 10X more! I hate to be mean, but she's supposed to be the best singer at the camp? Maybe it's because I know a lot about the technicalities of proper singing, but woah was she bad! She also had that super-fake smile that made me cringe.
I know it's made for those mindless tweens, but surely the final product could have been better than this! It saddens me that the tween crowd will consider this a real musical...
But hey, I can't blame the people who made this for wanting to make it or for making it the easy way they did. I mean, if it takes them little effort, and they still get huge numbers, why would they bother making it good? As much as I am disliking them for this movie, the Jonas Brothers are pretty smart to make good use of there time as teen idols, seeing as once the next young hott guy(s) come around, they'll be out of jobs.

tommy2.net has info on the Cheetah Girls: One World soundtrack:
Here’s the tracklist for The Cheetah Girls: One World. It will also be a CDVU+ similar to the Jonas Brothers self-titled release, so it will have exclusive video content, images, lyrics and more.
1. Cheetah Love
2. Dig A Little Deeper
3. Dance Me If You Can
4. Fly Away
5. Stand Up
6. What If
7. I’m The One
8. No Place Like Us
9. One World
10. Feels Like Love
11. Crazy On The Dance Floor
12. Circle Game
I wonder how many songs are Cheetah Girls songs and how many aren't, because on both of their soundtracks so far, not all of the songs were TCG songs. I really like "One World", but "Dance Me If You Can" is not my favorite...it'll probably grow on me, but it's not as good as I was hoping. But, listening to it on Radio Disney, I can tell that it'll have a lot of dancing, so hopefully that will make up for it.

Very cool, bruno_wbt!!! Thanks for posting all that!!!!! I like the song more with the video, which I knew that I would. Since it's a song that really highlights the dancing vs. the vocals, that's why I don't think that it's their best song, but it'll still be stuck in my head all day!
It's very interesting how it's all Cheetah Girls songs...that's great! I'm excited!

So... I finally watched Camp Rock. It was OK, not amazing. If it was only the first 2/3 of the movie, I would have despised it. But seeing the last thirty minutes, I can say I kinda enjoyed it. If the whole movie had had the awesome-ness of the last half hour, I would have enjoyed it. Obviously, I did not care for the useless exploitation of the Jonas Brothers. The other two could have been left completely out of it. And don't tell me sister, but Joe Jonas is an absolutely horrible actor. Granted, he is fun to look at, but there is not much else there. Maybe they will fix the mistakes and make Camp Rock 2 fully enjoyable.
And I'm not that excited about TCG3. Never saw the first two, and only really enjoyed one song from each. Cheetah Sisters, and Strut. Looks like this one, the only good thing will be the "One World" song. DCOMs have gone downhill, haven't they?
