Here are the Scans from the picture book, enjoy! Be warned- the text is in tact, so don't read if you don't want spoilers. This book reveals everything that the coloring book had stated. It's nothing exciting.

Ehh, I'll watch it and be exited. And I think all those little children and their parents who weren't over-analyzing the movie's trailers and connections to the previous movie might enjoy it too.

Still, the illustrations (or, stills) look amazing and even if the plot does suck, I already know the animation will be a million times better than TLM2.

I still have high hopes for TLM3, though. Of course I'll be upset if none of my predictions are even semi-correct, or if they don't even cover some of the things we wanted revealed, but I will still like it.

So thanks again, Disney Villain!

Nymbus wrote:Thank you Disney Villain for the summary and everyone else for the pics! I can't wait for the movie!

And, just my theory: I don't think Disney would want to immediately state in the book that Marina is Ursula or Morgana, it's not something that they would do in a kids book I don't think since they wouldn't want to give away spoilers.

Same thing happened with Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End kid's books where they told the main plotline but they didn't include what happened to Will or anyone else. Anyway, just a few more thoughts from me!
You are very welcome! You have a point- if Disney came out and said "Marina is Ursula or Morgana" then the action in the film would be much less exciting because the audience would be able to guess the rest of the plot.

I have read many Disney children books that leave out major parts- for example the Pirates At World's End book left out the part where Will had to leave and captain the ship. I'm almost certain that the Dead Man's Chest book left out all the details about Captain Jack getting eaten by the Kraken.

Old Fish Tale, mooky_7_sa, and Ariel'sprince you are all very welcome!
disneystarsfan wrote:what's interesting about the scans that beckalovesariel posted is that Ariel actually looks better than how she does in AB. In that coloring book you can see the lines for instance in her hair that makes her seem more realistic and natural instead looking a little gooey(for lack of a better word) like she does in the movie.
I agree with you- the coloring book pages have more life to them, then the full color images; we are able to see all the details. I also HATE the shadowing effect on this film. It looks like a big gray blob that has been placed over everything.

Disney Live On, you make some very good points. It seems odd to me that after all Marina went through she would just stay locked in a dungeon. If the film ends there, with Marina in the dungeon, then what happened to her for the first and second film? Was she just lying in the dungeon for all eternity? I don’t think so- it just doesn’t make sense, nor does it add up. I also think that Marina’s song is “Just One Mistake”, as you stated it fits the pencil animation clip that we saw.

Ariel'sprince, I would not look at the television series for answers. It seems that Disney has completely disregarded the television series for this film. It also seems that Eric will not be in this movie. According to the book the film takes place entirely under the ocean. I understand that Disney cast Eric, but I think the script went through some major changes. Originally I think Ariel and Eric were on a ship and Ariel told Eric her story. That idea seems to have been dropped. I do not think Eric will be featured in this film. Maybe there will be a scene at the end where a young Eric is on a ship and looks out onto the sea. Sort of like a nice ending.
Disney Duster wrote:By the way Disney Villain, Cinderella III still "adds" to Cinderella because it expands on the Prince, and Anastasia, and even Cinderella herself. It even furthers Cinderella and the Prince's love for each other, and shows how evil Lady Tremaine and Drizella can get, even turning against Anastasia. But the thing is, that's not for sure how the characters really were meant to be...and neither might the explanations and expansions in Ariel's Beginning. We can hope they talked to the original makers of the film, like John Musker and Ron Clements who wrote and directed it, and asked them either what the backstory is or asked them if they agreed to the backstory they came up with, but it's doubtful. Many people within Disney don't even know the sequels are made or what's in the sequels. Maybe they ignore them...and maybe we should follow...
I do agree that Cinderella III: A Twist In Time did add to character development, but besides that, in my opinion, it did not add to the Cinderella story. I also see your point about consulting the original filmmakers, and I agree John Musker and Ron Clements probably had no clue this film was in production. Here is my point of view when it comes to Disney films: When I watch a Disney film like The Little Mermaid and then watch sequels I treat them as if they’re real and weren’t created by filmmakers and film crews. In that regard, when I first heard of Ariel’s Beginning and then later on saw the sneak preview I tried to connect all three Ariel films as if they all were real and all fit into each other. I started to think of things like Sebastian’s facial expressions in The Little Mermaid II when he saw Morgana for the first time- and how it could be that Marina is actually Morgana in disguise, and Sebastian freaked out in the second movie because of the past he and Marina had. I’m trying hard to explain my mindset, I hope I haven’t confused anyone.

I don’t think Marina is Ursula and Morgana’s mother. The timeline just doesn’t make any sense. This film apparently takes place from the time Ariel was an infant up untill 13 years later. The books clearly state that after the accident involving Queen Athena the film jumps to “13 Years Later”. In the original film Ariel is 16. We don’t how old Ariel is for the rest of Ariel’s Beginning.

Vermin Friends, you are very welcome! I also have high hopes for this film. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Off topic, but Disney Villain I really like your sig. I like how it emphasizes on the Disney Princesses, yet the villains have a presence. I like that type of subtlety :) .

So Triton sings! Maybe that's why Jim Cummings voiced him this time!

Poor Benjamin! Locked away in the dugeon!

You are very, very welcome! I agree this film does seem to have some great animation. I am still puzzled as to why Kenneth Mars is not King Triton in this film. He has done every incarnation of King Triton for Disney- from things like toys to Princess CD's. He even guest starred in an episode of Hannah Montana. I could of swore it was him in the The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning trailer as well.

Thank you for the kind’s words! I wanted a sig that included both the princesses and the villains, so I decided to put emphasis on the princesses but leave the villains always watching in the background. I tried to get similar clip art of the villains all making, more or less, the same facial expression. Thank you again for the kind comment!!

I found these two Television ad's online for the "Keep Oceans Clean" campaign. These two T.V. spots feature clips from Ariel's Beginning. The ad's show clips we have not seen before. Check them out:

I'm glad I've been able to contribute to this thread. I'll be on vacation until Monday, so I won't be able to check back here. If you want to discuss anything with me feel free to send me an e-mail.

Just to review....

That was my prediction from the start! At least I was right about something. lol

I love the advertisement! So much new footage! :D Thanks for the heads up, Disney Villain!

And the mermaid at the end, jumping out of the ocean is most definitely not Ariel. The hair is black/brunette, and the tail is blue- sorta like the mermaid at the start of the 5 minute sneak peek, and at the beginning of this very ad- it probably is.

:D Yay the book confirms my theory was right- THEY ARE SWORDFISH soldiers! hehehe. :D

Sorry I know this post is totally pointless but I was proud of what I'd figured out. hehehe.

I know everyone is trying so hard to ignore spoilers but I can't wait anymore. I have Little Mermaid running in my veins at the moment and because in Australia we will be getting the dvd late I can't wait any longer to get a sneak peak at what happens.

I know I will love this film no matter how it turns out. Its Ariel and any adventure with her I know I will adore.

Thanks Disney Villian for the posts- SO EXCITED! :D :D :D

Aww, I'm sad that Benjamin has to be in the dungeon, too! It seems that he did all of Marina's chores against his better judgement.

And yup, Disney Villain, I strongly believe that they wouldn't include that key plot point to a children's storybook, because they wouldn't want to spoil the fans (although nothing about Pat Carroll reprising Ursula was seen anywhere, but again, if Disney was trying to keep it a secret, they wouldn't want that news spread far and wide).

Your points are also valid about them just making another "Purple Diva" who keeps eels as pets and then throwing her into a dungeon, therefore throwing Ursula's banishment away and throwing her into the story of TLM.

Maybe, in the end of TLM:AB, Triton "banishes" Marina, they are in the dungeon, but Marina's fortress is transformed into Ursula's cave over the next year and then she reveals her true identity, although we don't know where that would leave Benjamin, unless he escapes.

The eels do bear a resemblance to Flotsam and Jetsam, and maybe Marina was able to keep two of them and change back into Ursula.

I dunno, I'm going to hang onto every thread of hope that Ursula will make an appearance somehow or someway in this new movie...or Disney will have to come out with:

The Little Mermaid: What Happened in between Ariel's Beginning and The Original Movie!

;)

Edit: And btw, call me crazy, but the mermaid jumping down into the ocean kinda reminds me of a VanessaMermaid, cause it looks like she has dark hair. Just a random thought O_o
