Oh Mushrooms!

Is it an error on the BBFC's part then? I don't think that they would manage to release it in full frame unless it was passed by the BBFC

Well, it was passed in full frame for the previous DVD. I guess the most likely option is the BBFC entered the data wrong into their database (but that doesn't explain the UK press release... perhaps Disney here did intend it to be matted?)

I was sort of hoping both matted and unmatted would be on Disc 1, because let's face it, disc 1 doesn't have much on it. Sadly, it is just full frame.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I've just received my copy this morning. It appears to be at about the level of 'Cinderella' as far as special features go - not very much behind the scenes material, but what there is is very good. I like the Cruella featurette, of course, but the Dodie Smith featurette and the main documentary are also very good.

As Disc 1 is rather empty, they probably should have added some sort of film to storyboard comparison - perhaps even for the whole film.

The book that comes with some editions of the UK release is more than just some frames from the film - lots of production photos, inspirational sketches, storyboards and so forth.

Mickey's Wonderland is a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse movie special.
Ah okay :D (those films are spin-off or just normal episodes?),does it have anything with Alice In Wonderland? (the logo looks the Masterpiece Edition's logo).

OK I know this was somewhat off topic, but when this happened to me yesterday, I KNEW I just had to share.

So yesterday I was at Borders and then I went to Circuit City. I was browsing, not looking for anything in particular, when I came across a bunch of copies of "Now 27". I was like "oh man, this doesn't come out 'til Tuesday!" so I figured I'd attempt to buy it. When I went to the register the lady scanned it, looked at the computer screen, and then at the CD for a few moments (all while she had the most clueless, puzzled look on her face). She called one of her coworkers over, he looked at it and said to me "Oh! This doesn't come out until Tuesday!" then he turned to the lady and said "Go tell them to pull all the copies of the shelf! Quick! Here! Take the CD so you know what to take away!". I swear she bolted faster than anything, and I was trying hard not to laugh as I walked out of the store empty handed. I guess you just had to be there. Little did they know, the also had multiple copies of Kelis' "Kelis: The Hits" out, which also doesn't come out until Tuesday!

Does anyone know how well the DVD is selling? Do the first week stats compare to previous Platinum releases?

Thanks!

Has anyone noticed this strange occurrence in the opening credits of the film on the new DVD?

Isn't the background supposed to be a dark purple? :?

I'm sure the sales are amazing to say the least. Not only is Dalmatians one of Disney's most popular movies every time a Platinum DVD is releases sales are more than impressive.

I thought that Aladdin Platinum Edition didn't sell that well and that is why it didn't go out of print for such a long time.

Yeah, but what I mean that whenever a Platinum DVD of a beloved or massively popular movie (like Bambi, Cinderella and Snow White) is released first day sales are great.

If I am not mistaken, Aladdin's popular but isn't as beloved as the old classics, hence why its sales aren't as impressive.

I was actually pleased to see it single-layer.

For some reason, 101 Dalmatians never utilizes the space of a DVD. The Limited Issue was barely larger than 3GB (if I remember correctly), and at least this fills up a disc. Movies like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, though, were hard to copy for my backups collection because they take up TOO much space.

So I'm glad it's only one layer, but still looks good.

And I'm relieved to see they included the original mono mix. I especially hate Disney Home Theater Mixes of old movies, as there's a such thing as sounding TOO good. (And Aladdin's home theater mix sucked, it made the vocals sound weird on my stereo TV... and I couldn't care less about surround since I don't have HD anything)

Am thinking of ordering it in myself, is it really all that good?

It of course isn't as good as the books that came with the Lion King, Aladdin and Cinderella, but is much better than the one with the Jungle Book. I think it is definitely worth having.

But this is not just a case of getting warmer ... they outright changed the colours! Getting a warmer tint is one thing. Getting slapped with a hue on the other side of the spectrum is another. :| I think this will get purists really ticked off.
