Best Disney Channel Original Series

Image:"Lizzie McGuire" made Disney Channel what it is today- a hotspot for its talent, catapulting the actors and actress to superstardom. Today's Disney Channel shows are some of the most popular shows with tweens and teens. "Hannah Montana" easily is Disney's most popular show right now, with its recordbreaking concert tour. "That's So Raven" was popular enough to warrant a sequel, "Cory in the House". "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" has been on the air for 3 seasons, and it is so popular that a spin-off of the show is on the way. "The Emperor's New School" is a cartoon based on the Disney Animated Classic, "The Emperor's New Groove", and is one of the funniest cartoons on the network. The nominees are:

Cory in the House
The Emperor's New School
Hannah Montana
Kim Possible

And now, please welcome Dottie!

Best Original Song

Image: 2007 certainly was the year of movie musicals: we had kids dancing on a
60's TV Show, a bloody barber, and a singing (not unusual for that kind
of girl) Disney Princess. The Princess lost at the Oscars, but will she
lose here too, on a Disney Forum? Or will Link Larkin and the kids from
Hairspray take home the award? The nominees for Best Original Song are:

"Happy Working Song" (performed by Amy Adams) from “Enchanted”
"Ladies' Choice" (performed by Zac Efron) from “Hairspray”
"PoP! Goes My Heart" (performed by Hugh Grant) from “Music and Lyrics”
"That’s How You Know" (performed by Amy Adams) from “Enchanted”
"True Love's Kiss" (performed by Amy Adams, James Marsden) from “Enchanted”

...You voted, here's your winner for Best Original Song...

Best Made-for-TV Movie or Mini-Series

Image: TV movies have been around since pretty much the dawn of television. In the last couple of years, made-for-tv movies have been breaking viewership records, due to the Disney Channel Original Movies. It's no surprise that the three nominated movies all are DCOMs. Two of the nominated movies are sequels to popular DCOMs, while the third stars one of the actors of "High School Musical". The nominees are:

Please welcome back SpringHeelJack!

Best Adapted Screenplay

Image: Any writer taking on the challenge of adapting a screenplay has the challenge of not only making a great movie but one that won’t send fans of the original work into a tizzy. 2008 has seen adaptations from prestigious novels to campy musicals, all ably tackled by some very talented and very daring writers. From the frightening evil of Anton Chigurh to the bizarre improbability of a woman who looks like John Travolta crossed with Miss Piggy, we certainly have run the gamut in these screenplays. However, only one can truly be named the best. The nominees are:

Hairspray
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
No Country for Old Men
Stardust
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

The winner of the 2008 Movie Award for Best Adapted Screenplay is…

Please welcome back Dottie!

Best Original Screenplay

Image: The quality of a movie depends on the screenplay, or so some people
say. I don't knw if that's true, but one thing is certain. You need an
idea for a screenplay and to make your story work is harder than
adapting an already existing one. To create sparkling dialogue is the
work of a writer, dialogue that seems real but hs that special
something. The nominees are:

August Rush
Enchanted
Juno
Knocked Up
Ratatouille

This year we want to give the UD Award for Best Original Screenplay to...

Best Rock or Pop Album

Image: From a seasoned musical vetran who has been in the industry for decades to the soundtrack to a wildly successful Disney Channel Original Movie, the albums nominated are all different, yet are from successful artists or franchises. Amy Grant's career is very impressive, so it's fitting that her "Greatest Hits" album is nominated. Hanson's "The Walk" is a hidden gem released on their 3CG label. Maroon 5's "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" has had great commercial success, with singles constantly played on Top 40 radio. The soundtrack to "High School Musical 2" was one of the most popular albums of 2007, due to the franchise's massive popularity.

The nominees for Best Rock of Pop Album are:

Amy Grant - Greatest Hits
Hanson - The Walk
Maroon 5 - It Won't Be Soon Before Long
Various Artists - High School Musical 2: Soundtrack

...And the winner is...
