A question regarding the Wal-Mart exclusive.

I noticed the single disc is wrapped up with the game. Is the 2-disc going to have any bonuses with it? Extra Movie Rewards points perhaps?

I already have the game and wanted to get the 2 disc set anyway so I was just wondering if the 2 disc set will have anything. :?:

i'm a little scared. if you look to this website:
http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/livea ... about.html
it says there's going to be deleted scenes on the 2 disc dvd.

but if you go to this site:
http://www.disney.co.uk/DisneyDVDs/DVDs ... ds_End.jsp
it says deleted scenes are only on blu ray.
and it lists them... there's only three.

let's all hope that that only applies to the UK release.
and that there'll be a million deleted scenes on the US 2 disc dvd. :D

Actually I think there's only 2 deleted scenes on the UK Blu-ray.

Yes "Two Captains, One Ship" is 1 deleted scene.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

is that that one with jack and barbossa fighting over the wheel?
well.. i'm happy they're getting that in there.
still i wish there'd be a deleted scene explaining the will, 10 years thing.
i hope there will actually be lots.

while we're dreaming and such, i wish there was a feature on the ride.
or at least, on the premier. and on the MAIN 2 discs.

I have the Scandinavian DVD release, and it has the two deleted scenes. No commentary, though.

They did film Geoffrey Rush on the ride during the premier, so that will likely find its way to the DVD.

There's a few features about the ride in the DVDs for the first two films, so having another on the third film would be rather redundant as the others already covered enough ground.

Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color": January 21, 1968 (18:18 ) - an excerpt from the episode "From Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow", it features a clip from the 10th Anniversary show (Walt showing the scale models for the attraction to Disney Ambassador Julie Something), footage of animatronic construction, the opening of the attraction, and a ride-thru. It's on the second disc of COTBP.

Dead Men Tell No Tales (13:45) - about the history/development of the attraction. It on the DVD-ROM of the two-disc for COTBP, or on the Lost Disc.

Spirit of the Ride (7:10) - filmmakers discuss their appreciation for the ride, as well as elements of the attraction that were brought to the film. It's only on the Lost Disc.

Dead Men Tell New Tales: Re-Imagineering the Attraction (12:58 ) - about the movie-inspired additions (Davy Jones, Barbossa, Jack Sparrow) for the ride. It's on the two-disc for DMC.

But Al, you forgot about Pirate's Liar at Tom Sawyer's Island which was done about the same time AWE came to theaters I believe. They could've at least made a 2-minute feature that gave a brief look at it.

Then again, considering the fact pretty much every other Disney release has been so barebones that you can actually see the skeleton, no cursed medallions needed, I guess we shouldn't be complaining.

You got me there, Justin! I had actually forgotten about that new Pirate's Lair (though a Pirate's Liar would be interesting too).

Then again, AWE was a disappointment as a film (when compared to the other two), so it shouldn't be a surprise that the DVD may be a disappointment as well (when compared to the other two). Just judging by the names and lengths of the featurettes, I feel it's below the standard of the other films' DVDs. And the lack of trailers also is a strike against it.

maybe it'll be like an easter egg feature, the whole geoffrey rush thing.
i hope there'll be at least SOME easter egg about the ride.
or even, the tiniest glimpse of the attraction in the film.. something.
a really cool feature would be like.. taking the references in the films to the rides and putting them in the order of how they'd appear in the attraction like.. bayou. the caves. ship and the fort. like that.
anyone else think that that would be really cool?
it'd be like the ride in film. or something..

i actually think DMC was the most and only dissapointing POTC film, not ATW. ATW is probably my favorite. (or second favorite).
though DMC was a fantastic film, it's my least favorite of the three.

IGN.com has reviewed the DVD (I'm assuming it's the 2-Disc Edition), and have given it a 9.0 (Outstanding) rating, and it receives the IGN.com Editors Choice Award.

Well, in the UK at least, it appears the original Disney press release is correct. The single disc has a commentary, the double disc set does not.

What's even more perplexing is that you cannot buy the single disc seperately in the UK - its only available as part of the Trilogy boxset, which is three single discs.

This is the only time the commentary is mentioned. It's not mentioned on the 2 disc set's packaging, which lists every other feature (and doesn't end with "and much more" or similar wording). As an aside I see the IGN review of the 2 disc set doesn't mention a commentary.

It looks like that's going to be on a Best Buy disc (see the cerfitication information from the UK BBFC earlier in this thread). It is not on the normal DVD/BD.

Is it confirmed that the single disc has a commentary?

No, not 100%. But the trilogy box (consisting of 3 single discs) lists it, along with the Bloopers for the World's End disc.

Well, I got my review copy from BVHE, and I can tell you there's no commentary on the R1 2-disc set (I even checked "Set Up" to see if this was another Lion King type of blunder). Not only that, but BVHE included a print out of their full press release, and it's been edited to remove the commentary from ANY listed version, including the single disc.

I'm going to address this in my review, but I'll make mention of it here, too. The 2-disc Limited Edition is called that for a reason: according to the DVD booklet, it's going out of print September 30, 2008. How much you want to bet we'll be seeing an elaborate boxed set with new (aka withheld) bonus materials and extended cuts about a year or so from now? I know the prospect of extended cuts frightens Netty, and the movies ARE long, but how else can you explain the lack of deleted footage for Dead Man's Chest and two throwaway bits for At World's End?

Well Disneykid, I assumed there were little or no deleted scenes because they crammed them all into the movies! :D

It will be interesting to see if the UK trilogy set does have a commentary on it's single disc then, or if the packaging is wrong (for the first time for a BVHE UK release I should add if it is!)

More confusion: Play is listing the UK trilogy as 4 Discs, implying that World's End is the 2 disc version. But I held it in my hand the other day and I swear it only listed commentary and bloopers for the 3rd movie extras.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

The Ted Elliot/Terry Rossio commentaries were the best part of the jam-packed Pirates DVDs(and arguably the greatest and most informative commentaries ever recorded). The fact Disney is even taking short-cuts on the DVDs that guarantee us quality is dispromising.

I guess it makes sense if they released a box-set in the future, and would certainly buy it if it's true, but come on, not even one commentary to help us wait for an even better release in the future? I would easily trade boring sounding tripe such as The World of Chow Yun Fat: which just gives Disney a chance to brag they have an extremely bland(but popular) actor who was barely in the film to begin with for a commentary.

But what's the point writing this rant anyway? The fact Disney's reading this is unlikely, and clearly the princess <i>****</i> here don't care what happens to the franchise.

I wonder if the Commentary is on the Blu Ray disc of Pirates 3.....instead of the DVD....

If thats true....

I imagine people will be going King Louie Crazy and start saying to Disney

oobie doo If I were you...I would put that comentary on the 2-disc dvd Tooo...if its only on Blu Ray that would be ashame too (sings to the tune of I Wanna Be Like you from the Jungle Book)

Although if my theory is correct... its times like this I am thankful I bought a 20GB PS3 :P

If I am right... I imagine MadonnasManOne will be ticked..... as If I remember MM1 wasn't too happy about the Cars Blu ray and Ratatouille Blu Ray getting an extra deleted scenes and additional features...
