Does anyone have a physical copy of the Best Buy circular for this week. I looked at it online and there is something I can't read. Right under the "Pixar Shorts" DVD and a picture of Remy and Emile, there is some fine print, and I can't read what it says. I can make out that is says "Minimum of 50 per store" and "Must be purchased on same receipt".

Can someone PLEASE clear this up for me and tell me what it says??

Here's an article I found via cartoonbrew.com that says that motion capture films may be excluded from the Animation category at the Academy Awards. Interesting:

ratatouille maybe the best reviewed film yet but i think its far from the best that 2007 has to offer...i hope its nominated for best picture but its too simplistic a story to covet the best picture title. i think beauty and the beast had more substance to its story..

Although a Best Picture nomination would be nice, th movie is never gonna be able to win this category. And there's one reason: It's animated feature film! Animated movies never mak it, that's why a new category representing them was introduced seven years ago.

Thanks Amy! I was hoping the fine print said something about purchasing Ratatouille and the Pixar Shorts on one receipt and getting a discount, but now that I think about it, they wouldn't write that in fine print, they would make it known. Oh well, thanks anyway. I'll still be getting my copy at Best Buy because I already pre-ordered it there.

In the review for Ratatouille, they said that it was Pixar's weakest film to date. Who here agrees with that? Because personally, I preferred this one a lot more than last years Cars. What are your thoughts?

I don't think this was Pixar's weakest in my opinion (That credit goes to A Bugs Life), but I also thought it was not their best.

I'd say it was their second weakest, Cars being the weakest. However, I thought Ratatouille was pretty good. Cars was the only Pixar film that I really disliked, I think the other 7 are all really great, of course with some being better than others.

I thought Ratatouille and Cars were Pixar's best films. I would consider The Incredibles to be my least favorite followed by A Bug's Life. I'm probably in the minority, but I guess it shows that everyone has different tastes.

Monsters Inc. is the film that I had to work the hardest to like, but after several viewings and experiencing the attraction at DCA, it grew on me.

I'm glad Ratatouille received such high reviews because I do think it is the most endearing Pixar film yet. It's the one that whole-heartedly kept my interest and a smile on my face from beginning to end.

I just rented the DVD. I adored the Your Friend the Rat short (except for the part about the scientific experiments. That's not something rats would be proud of. They could have talked about how rats can be trained to seek out land mines without setting them off so they can be removed safely).

I was so disappointed in the DVD's offerings. I had already heard that didn't come with a lot, but I didn't expect it to be as bad as they said. Just three deleted scenes and a feature comparing cooking and animating? They couldn't even recycle the podcasts for it?

Ooh, and then when I think about what that Jim Hill thing said about parents who pay so little attention they'd get discs mixed up and would rather just stick something in and sit the kid on front of it without taking advantage of the great feature of DVDs, skipping the ads with a push of a button.... OOOH! It makes me mad! I was so looking forward to mountains of extras for this movie! I love the movie, I love Paris, I love fuzzy things, animation, and cooking and ARG!

I'd love to complain, but, as with all the other times I've wanted to complain, request, or ask a question, I've been so confused because Disney is so hard to contact! Where do people register these things?! The only example of "contact us" I can find anywhere is the generalized website troubleshooting. Disney Publishing doesn't make itself contactable, nor do the other subsections.

I agree- those are my 2 favorite Pixar films. I love them all, but I really love those 2 movies. I don't know which I like better, "Cars" or "Ratatouille". Because I <3 "Cars". So I really need to watch "Ratatouille" again and see!

Has anyone been able to determine the approximate running time of the bonus disk from Target? I can't find any information online or any mention by someone who may have seen this disk in advance.

From the Final Thoughts section:

Bursting at the seams with texture, color and flair, Ratatouille is one of Pixar's finest efforts to date. The unique story and memorable characters are easy highlights, though it's the film's superb visuals that draw us in and hold our attention. Disney's one-disc package isn't exactly loaded with bonus features, though the flawless technical presentation more than makes up for it. All things considered, those who like their animation served with style should find Ratatouille a satisfying feast indeed. Highly Recommended for hungry audiences of all ages.

Glad to hear the movie has great quality in both visual and audio. But I really can't complain about the bonus features because I will be getting Ratatouille at Circuit City for the chef's hat and apron rather than at Target with the Bonus disc.

Really, can't BVHE trust Pixar to create the DVDs for their films? Or maybe they think Pixar will spoil us to death and it will cost them millions.

Overseas, Disney/Pixar's Ratatouille remained the main dish for the fifth straight weekend as it added $14.5 million to its total gross, which now stands at $577 million worldwide (of which $371.8 million is derived from overseas ticket sales), according to Daily Variety. The trade publication noted that it was the first time any film has held onto the lead at the foreign box-office since Night at the Museum accomplished that feat at the beginning of the year.

I've decided that I'm going to buy my copy of Ratatouille at Target, to get their bonus disc. Then, I'll drive over to Best Buy, where I am going to pick up Pixar Shorts Collection, Volume 1 and Full House: The Complete Eighth Season, and get Double Points on my Reward Zone card!
