Although I am not advocating Blu-Ray, I figured I would post this for all of those who plan to buy Cars on Blu-Ray.

Disney Previews 'Cars' Blu-ray Interactive Features
Mon Aug 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM ET
Disney has posted a new trailer for its upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Cars,' providing a first glimpse at the disc's much-hyped interactive features.
As previously reported, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment plans to debut the animated blockbuster on November 6, when it will be one of a trio of the first Pixar releases to hit Blu-ray (alongside 'Ratatouille' and 'The Pixar Short Film Collection' ).
Hyped as the "High-Definition Event of the Year" in the lengthy trailer 'Cars' seems poised to push the limits of what we've seen so far on the Blu-ray format in terms of interactivity.
Highlighted specifically in the clip are first looks at two features exclusive to the 'Cars' Blu-ray release. Stretching the format's BD-Java capabilities is the "Car Finder" game, allowing viewers to search for over 200 models of cars hidden throughout the movie, and even "race the clock" to find a specific car in a frozen frame of film.
Also touted is the "Cine-Explore" mode, where John Lasseter "personally guides you through the making of the movie while you watch the movie." Judging from the footage that appears in the trailer, the "Cine-Explore" function looks similar to the "In-Movie Experience" picture-in-picture video commentaries common to the HD DVD format, making 'Cars' among the first announced titles to replicate this much sought-after feature on Blu-ray.
Additional announced features on 'Cars' include deleted scenes, the short film "Mater and the Ghostlight" and all of the other features included on the standard-def DVD version of the film, released late last year.
As always, you'll find full specs for 'Cars' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, under the disc's release date of November 6.

This release really makes me mad. As does the planned release of Ratatouille. Disney needs to realize that way more people have DVD players, than Blu-Ray players, and they shouldn't withhold a decent release on standard definition DVD. If they think that making these exclusive features available only on Blu-Ray is going to cause people to flock to Blu-Ray, I've got a message for them. Not happening with me. Until the format war is settled, I'll wait. I'm not going to let some company tell me what I should be buying. I'm the damn consumer, and I make my own decision. Anyway, enough of my rant. For those who are buying on Blu-Ray, enjoy.

I plan on Buying Cars On Blu Ray and Ratatouille on DVD and Blu Ray... Because I figure I might as well put the PS3 to some good use... since 2 games that I want Star Wars Legos The complete saga isnt coming out until November as well as WWE SMackdown VS Raw 2008...
I also Plan on buying Meet the Robinsons on Blu Ray and on DVD.. Mainly the dvd so that way I can watch it at other peoples house or I can loan the DVD out to a Family Friend and that way I still can watch tbe Blu Ray on my PS3.. I plan to do the same with Pirates 3....
I support Blu ray... But I also see your point of view MM1 about people who don't have access to a PS3 or simply don't want to buy a Blu Ray Disc player or PS3.. I mean I Heard that the 80 gig of the PS3 won't play as many PS2 and PS1 games as the 20 gig or 60 gig does... which if that is true.... I think PS3 is going to that System graveyard in the sky...
I mean I got my PS3 by selling Beanie babies.... and i still have 350 of them left.. Beanie Babies that is...
Anyway Back on topic...I agree with you MM1 adding some special features to a Blu Ray disc will just frustraite people but I wouldn't think it would be enought to make people go to blu Ray just yet but I Think they're plan is to frustrate people over and over until they give up and buy a PS3 or a BlU ray disc player...... Perhaps after the Holiday Season we will see more of clear winner...

This decision disappoints me greatly. I guess I will cave and buy the single-disc DVD that's already out. I will also call customer service and let them know that I would buy a two-disc DVD if they made one, but it will be at least three years before I buy a Blu-Ray player, so they're losing my money for no good reason.

I wasn't originally going to buy the Cars Blu-Ray, but now they've caught my interest. Plus, I've been meaning to watch it again before the sequel comes out as it's been a little over four years since I saw Cars and it's the only Pixar I don't own on some format.
