It is a pretty good DVD as far as extras go, but nonetheless, a 2-disc set is on the drawing board, or was, recently. Probably not this year, but I think a re-release is inevitable. An improved picture quality would be most welcome, I think...but I'd rather have like an Ichabod & Mr. Toad Special Edition myself! :)

Now that you mention it, Yes, Dumbo did have a pretty poor picture quality. I haven't seen this DVD since 2003, as a matter of fact, there are are many Disney movies I haven't seen this year. I think I'll pop Dumbo on my DVD player right now.

That's funny, I thought the only good extra was the gallery, and even that wasn't quite extensive. On the other hand, it is the Region 2 version, and it's probably missing something from the R1.
Luke also wrote:An improved picture quality would be most welcome
I found nothing wrong with the picture quality, however. It was way better than the first R2 release we got about 5 years ago. (Yes, we did.)

Secret Disney Man wrote:I personally think it should be a remastered breath-of-fresh-air release of Song of the South. I know if it does come out it won't happen until a long time, but I would love to get my hands on a copy of this film, VHS or DVD. I'm surprised I'm the first to want it.
I agree. I've never seen the movie, but would like to. And if/when Disney finally releases it, it's a big enough deal in and of itself to warrant some sort of suped-up (I don't know how you're supposed to spell suped, lol) DVD release.

But in the meantime, I have 3 candidates for the next ME edition, in order: (1)Pete's Dragon (2)Bedknobs & Broomsticks (3)Hercules.

The Black Cauldron beat The Rescuers? GRRR!!! I won't stand for this, :x You're out of my favorites, Cauldron boy! So my top 3 favorties are #3. Bambi, #2. The Fox and the Hound #1. The Rescuers.

Have you noticed that Masterpiece Edition and Michael Eisner have the same initials? I wonder if there's some kind of connection here...

Maybe Eisner wanted to have his initials in the DVD cases... Hmm...

Ummmmm... hmmmmm... how should i put this?

Tangela - Bambi will NEVER be a masterpiece edition DVD...
Why? Because it is already a PLATINUM Edition... :P

Sorry I just had to do that, hope I didn't come off mean!

Any way my 3 picks would be:
1. Mulan
2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
3. Hercules

I think all the 90's films, including Rescuers Down Under, deserve a 2 disc Master Piece Edition....

and I really wish Pocahontas were comming out this year! I haven't seen the movie since it was in theatres! :(

I voted for 'Hunchback,' but I was between that and 'Robin Hood'... which doesn't seem to be a popular choice so far.

I have no doubt in my mind that Mulan will someday be a Masterpiece Edition and it should be the first one after the first wave. It was a great movie! Sure, it didn't get the signature two Academy Awards for music as did the fab five ("Reflection" didn't even get nominated and it lost for Best Original Score for a Comedy/Musical), but it left the Disney musical behind with a bang. It had critical acclaim and a good box-office, something the previous two lacked. After that one, I would like to see Hercules make the cut, with The Hunchback of Notra Dame right behind it. :D

Well I guess Mulan won since Disney announce that a Mulan 2 Disc DVD is coming out in October.
It says to be a Special Edition but it could be a Masterpiece.
Who knows may be they mean Special Edition as in Masterpiece Edition.
I was waiting to get Mulan since it was release as a single disc 2 times (Limited Edition and Gold Collection.
Both versions were the same with little extras.
I will get Milan on October it's the best Disney fill since Pocahontas.
I'm also excited to get Lilo and Stitch, Pocahontas and Mary Poppins this year and next year since I want to upgrade all three of them.
The Simpsons Season 11 Buy it Now!

Fox Sunday lineup:

8:00 The Simpsons
8:30 King of the Hill
9:00 Family Guy
9:30 American Dad

My thoughts exactly. 8)

My three choices:
1. Hercules - Awesome, fun movie, along the lines of Aladdin
2. Hunchback - Another good movie without the respectful DVD it deserves
3. Tarzan - Bring the CE out of the moratorium cause I didn't catch it while it was out!

Why didn't I say Mulan? Because I know it's already being released as some 2-disc set so what does it matter if it's ME/SE/anything else? We already know it's going to be a good release so why vote for it? Vote for something else that we don't know will be release so time soon.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When did Disney ever mention that Lilo was being release in May, or is that the month Stitch 2 is getting out.
Since Peter Pan, Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty were mentioned in a press release or somewhere to be added to the Platinums, but Sleeping Beauty was already released as a 2-disc set, I think they may have just ment that they'll be released as 2-disc sets in the "near future" (instead of being released after the original 10 Platinums). Remember, Peter Pan was already released as a Collector's Edition in region 2, and Pinocchio was released as a restored 1-disc Special Edition.
You forgot Fantasia. Anyway, I think Sleeping Beauty's DVD is just fine. I do think that although Peter Pan and Pinocchio got pretty good SEs, now that they're OOP, Disney should give em some better 2-DISC releases NOW! Also, a 2-disc Fantasia would be nice, but the Anthology set is wonderful as it is. And, when did Pinocchio get an SE? I know it was LE, then rereleased as a Gold.

I agree with Luke that evetually a 2-disc release for all of Disney's cannon is inevitable. It will happen, but by the time it does, Blu-ray and HDDVD will be out, and Disney'll move on to that format.

Tangela, how did you get banned? And if you're banned, how can you be posting?

Anyway, there's my 2 cents. Not offense to anybody else's thoughts/opinions. Rant over.

I voted for the Hunchback! It's so wonderful and not as famous as it reserves.
The other thing why I love this so much is that my theatre group is making a play of the Hunchback and we have an opening night in wednesday. I'm really freaking out.. :D I'm playing a whore! :P
