I went to see it last monday, boy did I enjoy myself!!!!!! It was one of the funniest Disney films I've ever seen LMFAO! Everytime those rats appeared on the screen I just couldn't stop laughing lol
My favorite part is when all the rats team up to make the dish when the food critic arrives.

A superb film!

i saw the film today and i loved it

and i argreed with pap64,it's the deepest pixar movie and finally there's an CGI animated film that he isn't about talking animales who want to escape from zoo or a fairy tale parody and no parodies on other films or jokes about farting ogers or black\gangster fishes.
Remy is cute.

I just wanted to update this thread with the link to the Press Release for the release of Ratatouille on DVD/Blu-Ray that has been posted on the front page.

Also, Ratatouille is inching ever closer to the $200 million dollar mark at the domestic Box Office. It should reach that total by this coming Sunday or Monday.

At any rate, I can't for this to be released to DVD. I still wish it were going to be a 2-Disc Collector's Edition. It makes me mad that it's not. However, it's the movie that's the most important thing to me, and I really enjoyed it.

The weekend estimates are in, and Ratatouille has now made it over the $200 million dollar mark at the domestic Box Office. The current domestic total is: $200,726,000.

Worlwide total, currently, is: $373,075,000. That does not include numbers from this past weekend. The film still has several international markets to open in.

That's a really good total considering the movie doesn't have the "all ages" appeal of the older Pixar films. Its just too bad that critics and the media will focus on the "bomb" rather than the triumph (I'm looking at you JIM HILL!).

I find that incredibly annoying. Yes, it may have taken longer for <i>Ratatouille</i> to reach blockbuster status, but it reached it either way. If a film makes over $200,000,000 at the box office, there's absolutely nothing to complain about. It sounds to me like Mr. Jim Hill needs to get a grip.

I think had some of the other Pixar films "flopped" no one would be making a stink about Ratatouille.

I still say considering the type of movie Ratatouille was it did well. I understand why the marketing department had trouble selling this movie. Unlike the other films Rat appeals more to serious animation fans and adult audiences than packs of families. The storyline features many things that would fly over the kids (and the general audience) heads and, dare I say it, bore them out of their mind. In short, the movie attracted a select audience, not just the giant masses of sheep (like Shrek the third did).

Its a niche film, and me and my friends agreed that the movie wouldn't do as well as the other Pixar films.

I think they must be talking about Linguini and the slapstick humor but Rat is anything BUT childish. Anyone with at least half a critical mind will see that.

They're,althought they basicly talked about Gusto (which i liked) and they did talked about Remy and they think a rat is childish (in the TV news),i agreed with you and i have no idea why they're saying that.

I agree. I mean I'm sat here in the UK still waiting for this film to be released!!!

The figures may not be spectacular but I'm guessing it's final worldwide gross will still be really impressive.

Clearly though something went wrong somewhere because the film was all set to be released over here and wasn't for whatever reason. I picked up Meet the Robinsons on dvd today and there is a coming soon to dvd and bluray trailer for Ratatouille which, as I say, doesn't even hit our cinemas until the end of October. Also last month my local toyshop stocked and displayed a decent array of Ratatouille merchandise. With the film not being released for another 7 weeks here it's hardly surprising that they don't appear to be shifting any of it.

Anyway you look at it the marketing and release of this film seems to have been very sloppy. If the figures end up being down then I'm not sure you could conclude that it was because people didn't like the film, especially when most of the reviews have been fairly positive.

A rethink of strategy perhaps is all that's required for the next one.

Just thought I'd have a rant at the dumb trailer I just saw for this here in the UK.

They're advertising it as Rat+A+2+E

Thanks for the spelling lesson their Disney.

I only hope the spotty teen at the desk at the theater has a cheat sheet so that when someone comes to the desk and asks for tickets to Rat+A+2+E he doesn't look down at his computer and say "I'm sorry we only have tickets for Rah+Tat+Ooh+EEly!"

Oh wow, I really want that bonus disc from Wal*Mart, I'm a huge fan of Food Network, however, I already pre-ordered mine from Best Buy. I'm hoping they will have a pretty good retailer exclusive. I'm also hoping they will have some sort of deal if you buy Ratatouille and the Pixar Shorts Collection at the same time - that would be great!

I just saw Ratatouille last night, and I totally agree with all the rave reviews previously posted. In my book, it was better than The Incredibles, and that's almost ... well, incredible. It's a lovely story which I'm sure we'll be watching twenty years from now. And the animation is fantastic. And the sound design! Brad Bird is definitely the best thing to happen to animation in a very long time.
