Thank You Prudence, Mason_Ireton, and Ariel'sprince for the response.

My uncle is very thick headed. I hate people like that. My cousin should be allowed to like whatever he wants. Mason_Ireton your story about that Father happens every day. It's insane, children can't be children anymore.

Back on Topic:
I really like Disney's new website design. They ovbiously have some very great Graphic Designers. However, the content is still lacking.

WOW!!! What a strange stories!!!

I think that I'm SO lucky because my father bought to me and my brother all the Disney Classics including all the princess movies!!! And all the VHS with Ariel stories from the TV series.

And he still enjoy watching those movies with us!!!

I hate people who is so-closed-minded. :x

To Dust or Not to Dust, That is the Disney Question wrote:When I was younger I got books, figures/dolls, and merchandise of movies I liked, and they were all the fairy tale films. Most of them princesses. I felt like I was such minority, and unfortunately I don't know how the other guys here were when they were younger.
When I was a kid, there was a time when the only DACs we (Jane, me, Kram) would watch regularly (despite having about a dozen more) were Cindy, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Tiny Fishgirl, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Suffice it to say, it was a nice balance between the allegedly girly movies, and the more boy-centric ones. It wasn't really "weird" among the three of us, but at school if anyone ever asked what my favorite Disney film was, I'd say Peter Pan or Aladdin (and they still are, though Al outranks Pete). Partly because I did love them more than the others, but also because of the stigma that the other films carried. I couldn't exactly go around proclaiming that Merryweather was my favorite of the Three Good Fairies, or that I preferred Cindy over Tiny Fishgirl (back then, of course, I used their proper names of Cinderella and Ariel).
Dust by any other name wouldn't be Disney wrote:Do younger boys really only like the fairy tale films, but not any of the merchandise for the films?
I personally wasn't too crazy over having a Cinderella doll of my own when I was younger, but I had a Snow White's Prince action figure from a McDonald's Happy Meal that I was quite fond of. I remember asking the McDonald's lady if they had any Evil Queens, as I really wanted that one (she could transform into the Old Hag!), but she gave me the Prince, which would have been my second choice (he had a horse, I had an extremely short horse phase when I was young).
The Prince of Ariel wrote:,they all think it allright that Disney think that only little girls like the Disney Princess and now people treat badly males who does like the Disney Princess.
Well, that's your assumption based only on what people have said in this thread. I said earlier in the thread that Disney will choose which characters will have the most appeal to specific demographics (boys, girls, kids, tweens, families, adults, etc.), but it doesn't necessarily mean those characters are only allowed to be liked by those demographics. Disney chooses to market the Princesses to little girls because that's what they feel is the strongest demographic that will buy its merch. It doesn't mean that Disney thinks only little girls are interested in the princesses.

And I never treat anyone badly if they like the Disney Princess line. That's their taste, I have mine, and there's no reason to belittle one over the other. I will, of course, tease them relentlessly because that's what I do. But they know I hardly mean a word of it, what with my long lingering unrequited love for Belle after all these years.
Not Ariel, but her Prince wrote:No,becouse people are acting cold to me becouse they disagree with ("Oh no,we are forced to love Mary Poppins
I wasn't acting "cold" towards you with that line (or any of the others). I was merely being sarcastic by applying the twisted mindset of "Disney believes only the people in such-and-such demographic will love the characters portrayed in the little tabs." If they had put the Rocketeer in Mary's spot on the "Disney Fans" tab, I'd have said the same thing.

Yes, I did receive it. You receive points for recognizing Lady Prudence's position to be that of grand majordomo (a major accomplishment for a woman of the time period), unless you just knew that because I said so somewhere.

At any rate, I have been meaning to respond to your e-mail and shall go do so now... after I finish watching this live Italian musical on YouTube that I am only watching for the sake of one actress who has yet to appear.

I actually get quite upset when people spell other forum members names incorrectly. Thank you so much for the warm "welcome back", it was greatly appreciated! lol, I usually agree with your posts quite often.

Disney Duster and I were both surprised when we discovered that our names were the same. We discovered this fascinating fact while discussing Cinderella III: A Twist in Time in a PM (or at least I think that's when).

Ah yes my ever annoying uncle. I too, as Winnie the Pooh would say, pondered what a three year old could possibly know about manliness. Sleeping Beauty actually made me more boyish (is that a word?), because I had (and still have) a major crush on Princess Aurora. She's quite the hottie!

Once again Thank you for the "welcome back" Escapay! I especially liked your re-naming of our names, it was very amusing.

"Majordomo" is one of those words that I'm fascinated by, simply because it's hardly used.

That, and I remember you said it in a thread.

*sigh*

What is it with Kida and a monkey comparison? Seriously, that's just harsh and demeaning, IMO. I don't see how my calling Ariel a "Tiny Fishgirl" can lead to Kida being an "Atlantean Monkey Girl". I call Ariel a "Tiny Fishgirl" because it's partly synonymous with "Little Mermaid":

Little = Tiny

Mer = Sea = Fish (Yeah, I'm stretching it with "fish", but I didn't want "tiny seagirl" or "tiny oceangirl". Besides, as a mermaid, she's part fish anyway.)

Maid = Girl

AFAIK, there's no synonyms within "Princess Kida" or "Atlantis"/"Atlantean" that would equate with "monkey".

Why do you call Kida some unpronouncable name?

He calls her "The Shrill"* because if you haven't noticed, her voice is extremely high.

*Don't quote me on that,as I'm not actually Escapay,but that's how I took it.

You know I've never thought about which Villain I am! Definitely not Captain Hook. I like him, I do, but he's too pathetic to be taken seriously.

In real life I’m not evil, nor am I villainous at all. Just for some reason I've always loved the villains. I don't skin animals, nor do I curse infants, or try to cut out the hearts of sweet young princesses, with annoying voices.

As a child, I thought that I resembled the Evil Queen, from Snow White. We have very similar facial expressions, face shape, and dark hair with very fair skin. There is one scene, in particular, where the Wicked Queen goes into her spell room and reaches for a book. If you pause the film you can see her profile, and her rather pointy nose. I have a pointy nose as well. I was once told that I could be her son, lol.

I have always been obsessed with Disney's infamous Villains, but I really can't tell you why. I also Love the Princesses (sometimes more than the villains).

Disney Princess and the Horribleness that is their Marketing

Post by Disney Duster »

Escapaymefivedollarsifyouforgettheseconda, thank you for all you said to make me feel less of a weirdo for having all the princess stuff when I was young. I remember the Queen toy, too! In a commercial. You should of gotten it. It's like Disney Transformers! What the heck was that woeman's problem, not giving a little boy what he asks for. Way to treat a kid.

Ariel'sprince, yay, I'm glad you're staying!

Wow, so you're probably hot. She was the fairest in the land until Snow White grew up. So I guess all the goth girls might like you with your paleness, dark black emo hair, and generally good-looking features. I'm jealous. I'm gonna go buy some apples. Where do you live again? LOL I'm teasing don't tell me that over the internet!

Anyway, I can't believe what you're uncle said to you! First of all, he's insulting you with his comments about the movie, and then he's not letting his son choose what he naturally would choose. We should show kids different things, Disney and Dreamworks, animated and live-action, princess and pirate, and let them decide what they like. If your cousin said, 'Eh, I didn't like that movie" then so be it. But let the kid decide! I guess your uncle showed his true fear: He was afraid his son would like it!

Ha hahaha...Hot I am not (at least in my opinion ). I always had a crush on the Evil Queen (I sure do have allot of crushes on Disney Characters!). When I was younger the Magic Mirror would, pardon the French, piss me off. Whenever he said "Snow White is fairer than thee", I would go NO NO NO the Queen is much prettier (and probably has a more pleasing singing voice).

I don't feel that I look 100% like Queen Grimhildie, I just think that we share certain features. You can see some pics of me on my trip to Disneyworld a few weeks ago here: http://picasaweb.google.com/disneyvault ... fp9eBfYs4c

And oh, about my uncle . He's basically told me that he doesn’t want his son turning out like me...walking around humming music from the Princess Tea Party Album...or running to the store to get the latest volume of Enchanted Tales. It's quite sad. I love his son, we play Buzz Lightyear and kill EVIL (his name for Maleficent). We have allot of fun..but his father bothers me.
