Is "The Jungle Book" Platinum Edition DVD still uses the old logo? I'm just wondering that the "Sleeping Beauty" Platinum Edition will have the new logo. That will be coming in 2008.

The reason I find Chicken Little and whatever-the-other-3D-film-is-called ;) easy to exclude (= not to count them as official Disney animated features) is that in the Finnish language, the traditional word for animated films translates literally to "a drawn film" or "a film made of drawings". Computer animation isn't actually drawn. :)

This confirms the Gift set is coming to the UK
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=65820

I can't explain why most e-tailers, inclusing Amazon.co.uk, don't have it listed.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Or, for those too lazy, here are the minimized pics. (You can enlarge them if you go on the site, but I don't want to take up too much bandwidth. )

I'm pretty sure these are the real deal...all you have to do is compare these 2 pictures. The one on the left is from the Limited Issue, the one on the right is from the Platinum. Although, I have no idea how that plant popped into the "platinum" still found on the left...

Honestly, if this is what the restored DVD looks like, I think it looks amazing!! And I CAN'T wait!! :D :D

Where are all the natural colours?
This looks far too bright, the lines are too thick.

Restoration Comparison:

Scaps

The "before picture" isn't like how it was before at all!!!!

I have the first dvd version, and the video versions, and I've never seen anything like that picture.

The first dvd version looks more like the "after" picture.
And the restored version looks more like the "before" picture.

I think the person who made that trailer messed up the images, and put the best one as "after", assuming a restoration would improve things.

C'mon people, we all know from previous experience in that area with restoration screencaps that what you see on a picture doesn't look at all like what you see on your TV screen on your DVD. Don't worry, the movie will look just fine.

Last night I was lucky enough to see the premier of the film at the El Capitan, and the print looked amazing. The colors were vibrant, no scratches, dust or noise. It looked like a brand new film but all of the pencil lines from the copy process that make the film what it is were left in. The sound was also crystal clear. It was a chance of a life time to hear Robert Sherman sing songs from Poppins, Winnie the Pooh and Jungle Book, it made my little brothers day to get to shakes his had afterwards. The surprise was Chad Stewart (voice of one of the vultures) sung a Chad and Jeremy song. Andreas Deja also mentioned he is now working on a traditionally animated film (probably Frog Princess) which is really good news.

I wonder if somebody from UD did a El Captian report on it....It'd be neat to see a full detailed report on it... We did it for Peter Pan.

Anyone know if Best Buy will offer a plush or anything to go with the DVD? I usually buy Platinum Editions there because they usually have the best price and a free something or other.

Also, has anyone noticed merchandise for this release anywhere yet? I'm a big fan of the film (have the older release), and have a plush collection displayed in a pet net in my room (large plushes of Baloo, Louie, Baggy, Shere Khan, and a plush/puppet Kaa, all from Disney World except Khan, who was from the Disney Store during Jungle Book 2). I've been eager to add a plush Mowgli to it, but have never seen one except a beanie only sold in the UK that I haven't managed to land off Ebay yet. I'm hoping Disney Stores will carry one along the lines of the plushes they currently have had for the princesses and Pan characters. I went to our local Disney Store today and they didn't have anything of the Jungle Book though. We now have an outlet Disney Store that is about an hour's drive away, maybe less, but I haven't been there in a while. However, I recall they had a lot of Peter Pan plushes when that DVD came out that our local Disney Store didn't carry.

Jungle Book plushies are in my local Disney Store! There's King Louis, Kaa, Baloo and Junior. Never seen any Bagheera, Wolves, Vultures, Shere Khan or Mowgli

Aw, they always do the same characters! And Junior would ruin the "up in a tree" effect my pet net makes. Shere Khan was there when Jungle Book 2 was out in theaters. That's when I got him. I bought my Bagheera, Baloo, and Louie years before at Walt Disney World, but I actually liked the Louie and Bagheera better that came out at the Disney Stores for Jungle Book 2, because my Bagheera is very black, while that one was more of a very dark gray, and the Jungle Book 2 Louie had more of a balding look on top of his head that looked more like the actual Louie. Mine are still pretty darn cool though. They also had Lucky the vulture from Jungle Book 2, but I didn't really want him because he wasn't in the original. It would be awesome if they had the original vultures though! Amazing they haven't made those! What has been giving me hope for a Mowgli plush this year is all those human characters they've been doing. A shame if they're not going to make just one more (or two, Shanti, which I'd also get probably) for Jungle Book. By the way, while I was there last night, I saw that new set of Little Mermaid figures with the curvy designs, of Ariel and all her sisters! I HAVE to have that! Though I still need the one of Disney's Fairies (I'm big on Tink and Ariel).

Thanks for the info, by the way. It would be awesome if they'd make some of the wolves someday!

The Disney store also has a desk lamp, a Baloo T-shirt, lithographs if you pre-order the DVD, and a snowglobe which can be added to your pre-order of the DVD.

Ours does have the lamp, and behind the counter I did see the snowglobes. Nothing else of the Jungle Book yet though, and the lamp is just one of many based on different films. I do want to get that lamp someday though, as I'd like to have a Jungle Book themed room in my house (my dream house has several spare bedrooms, and every room will be themed, ha, if I ever get rich enough for such a place).
