I can definitly tell you that there will be something about Walt Disney's death. And, of course, there will be a 35-50 minute Making-Of. A gallery will most likely be present, and a whole new digital restoration with new Disney Enhanced Home Theater Mix, with Original Restored Mono version as well. I would like to see a piece of how Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas animated the two main characters and practically more than half of the movie. A new Disney Channel Circle of Stars would be a nice edition, too. I wouldn't mind seeing an Original Theatrical Trailer, but who honestly think we'll get that?

Hopefully they will keep the original mono (unlike TLM where they dropped the original 5.1 instead of keeping it as a supplement to the DEHTM).TheSequelofDisney wrote: with new Disney Enhanced Home Theater Mix, with Original Restored Mono version as well.
Let's not and say we didn't.TheSequelofDisney wrote:A new Disney Channel Circle of Stars would be a nice edition, too.
I'm hoping some type of featurette on the Sherman Brothers too, because even though they've got a lot of featurettes already (thanks to that Music Magic series of featurettes), there's really no one definitive featurette about their contributions to the Walt Disney Company as a whole. Something akin to the Alan Menken 20-minute featurette in the Aladdin Platinum Edition.
I have to say, though, that The Jungle Book isn't one of my favorites for DAC's, and I probably only saw it once in its entirety. So I'm not exactly looking forward to its release as much as I am for Peter Pan and the oft-delayed 101 Dalmatians.
Maybe, too, we'll see this title in anamorphic widescreen with proper matting done...

I am very much looking forward to the Platinum Edition of The Jungle Book. The movie was not really one of my favorites, but that is what is so great about the Platinum Editions. With all the bonus features, interviews, and commentaries, you learn new things about the film and it makes you appreciate it more than you did before.

I know that Disney has basically abandoned the idea of commentaries for the older films, but I think there should be at least something like Bambi's. They should include the abandoned concepts & characters, like Rocky the Rhino & Isthar the Buzzard & possibly a little biography on Bill Peet & his work for Disney (unless they want to put something like that on 101 Dalmatians).
I know Eric Goldberg & Andreas Deja were inspired to work in animation due to this film, so I think there should be a feature on the two animators & how Jungle Book influenced them.

Judging by Disneymania's version, Bowling For Soup's "Bare Necessities" was the best one to me.numba1lostboy wrote:I think we'll see a music video from the DCCOS. Every October PE has featured a music video. But I wonder which one we'll get. "Bare Necessities" or "I Wanna Be Like You".

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Nobody knows what the features will be, we're just speculating. Best bet is to wait for the press release, and considering the fact that it's a year away, we won't get the press release until probably Spring or Summer 2007.danfrandes wrote:Could anyone give me a list of The Jungle Book Platinum Edition bonus features? Jungle Book has always been one of my favorite Disney animated features (it probably WAS my favorite until The Little Mermaid and later films came along), and Baloo one of my favorite Disney characters. I hope there's something on there about Phil Harris, but I can't imagine what else would be on there. It's all going to be a nice surprise for me. I WISH they would include an episode or two of Jungle Cubs. Off the top of my head, though, that's all I can think of (since TaleSpin is already getting its own sets). I would like to see some stills of merchandise on these Platinum Edition DVDs though, since I love collecting toys and stuff from the films. I also wish they would include the videos from the old "Simply Mad About the Mouse" VHS, though I don't recall if it had any Jungle Book songs on it. Just saying that, if they're not going to release that one onto DVD, they should release the videos on their films' respective DVD releases.

I'm betting we'll get a brand new version of whatever song they choose. They could have given us Raven's "Under The Sea" video for TLM PE, but Ashley Tisdale is more popular now, so...Disney's Divinity wrote:Judging by Disneymania's version, Bowling For Soup's "Bare Necessities" was the best one to me.numba1lostboy wrote:I think we'll see a music video from the DCCOS. I'll bet we'll see a video by the COS, and it'll include stars from Hannah Montana and High School Musical and the Phil of the Future cast won't be present (shame, because Alyson Michalka's voice is great).
And on another note, are there others who liked it when Disney released their PE's with new animation? I mean, BATB and TLK and Pocahontas all got new musical sequences and I enjoyed them for the most part. I would'nt mind if Disney did that again...

We got the TLM press release in February, so we may get TJB's press release or at least a fact sheet in February 2007.danfrandes wrote:We'll just have to wait for the press release of The Jungle Book Platinum Edition 'til April. Right?

Well, adding new animation to a classic would be a big mistake. They proved in Jungle Book 2 that they can't match the look of the original, or just didn't want to... Anyways, the original is perfect in my opinion. I loved the new scene in Pocahontas, but that was a cut scene. It was like... well, like if they had actually cut "Part of Your World" from Little Mermaid. That's what Pocahontas was like for me without "If I Never Knew You." Adding it back in really fixed the movie for me, and made it wonderful! The new scene in Lion King wasn't really necessary, and even Beauty and the Beast didn't need the new scene, though it wasn't bad. If they want to add something, add an episode of Jungle Cubs or make a new Jungle Book short cartoon. Nothing wrong with that. Look how PIXAR always releases their DVDs with new shorts about the stars.
