hi
I used to have a huge collection of the old disney videos as any of you ole members from way back remember me talking about posting pics etc. But past couple years i have gotten rid of all of them except my FOllow Me Boys 1985 White Clam VHS Release. Which is in mint condition. I purchased it new 5 years ago on e-bay and have only viewed it twice.

Re: tj77
That Mary Poppins VHS you mentioned is from December 1980, that is one of the oldest out there, my Pete's Dragon copy is from Oct. 1980, although it's been issued for rental by Fotomat back in March 1980. The cover of "Mary Poppins" you have from 1980 is extremely rare because it was replaced with a new cover for its master in VHS-STEREO in 1983.
Good find, tj77.

I actually don't have the first release of Dumbo. But I remember what it looked like. It was the same design as the other early releases, with Sorcerer Mickey on the top half of the box. The other half was just of Dumbo flying in a blue sky. Been trying to find it on Google but couldn't find anything.

Oh my, I have never seen that! The stock number is 31VS, so it's from 1981. I do have the original 1981 video of "Dumbo", BTW. The cover is just like any Disney cover from the early 1980s, but it's a simple image of Dumbo flying on a blue background.
Thanks for showing me the Snow White Live video, tj77. But I have one correction, Mary Poppins was December 1980, because Disney only licensed 13 titles (MP wasn't one of them) to Fotomat for video in March 1980, which became made for both sale and rental in October 1980, and Mary Poppins was added to the line-up in December.
The 13 Fotomat video titles were Pete's Dragon, The Black Hole, The Love Bug, Escape to Witch Mountain, Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier; 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The North Avenue Irregulars, The Apple Dumpling Gang, Hot Lead and Cold Feet, On Vacation With Mickey Mouse and Friends, Kids is Kid Starring Donald Duck and The Adventures of Chip N Dale.

I don't have many "old" copies of movies.......I think my oldest movie on video was the original release of Pocahontas on Video in 1995 or 1996?.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Ah, the nostalgia factor... Those old covers certainly remind me of the Disney rental tape ads that I saw in Disney comic books during my childhood in the early 80s - around the time when I first heard about "video" at all - long before my family got a VCR - and long before buying Disney animation on video was heard of in my corner of the world.
