Your Oldest Video copy of a Disney film

Post by Imaxination80-92 »

The oldest copy of a Disney movie I have is "Pete's Dragon" on Beta, from late 1980. It appears to be printed around the time. I have several other editions from the 1980s as well.

What is the oldest video (or DVD if you don't have VHS, etc. tapes anymore) you own?

That one Dumbo with the pink on the side of the box and where Dumbo looks odd and stretchy on the front. That or maybe the first VHS release of Pinocchio.

I don't even have my VHS Disney movies anymore lol. The only thing that's even close to owning an original Disney VHS cassette is the Clamshell I still have for Aladdin. It's so random I have like...probably 7 VHS's under my World Encyclopedia Set of books next to my DVD's and I have the Aladdin Box with the others with no VHS inside! I dunno why I keep it lol. I guess for Childhood memories when my Mom bought it for me from Longs Drugs when I was like 5.

The first Disney movie I bought was the Black Diamond Bambi in 1989. The oldest one I have would be Cinderella, which was released beforehand but bought shortly after I got Bambi. My first Disney Laserdisc was the CAV Collector's Edition of Fantasia. The original 1999 release of A Bug's Life was my first Disney DVD. Even though they've all been replaced (or, in the case of A Bug's Life, upgraded) on DVD, I still have them all, because I can never part with my Disney stuff. The Fantasia Laserdisc is still particularly useful, because that version of the film is slightly different than the one on DVD. It contains the original Deems Taylor dialog recordings, although incomplete, and the LD also has a different "making of" documentary than the DVD.

I am the same as Lars. Although I am thinking it was earlier than 90s.

Did I really get a Disney VHS Christmas in my early 90s(and I was happy about it).
