Simba3
I agree with Simba3. Every Disney sequel/prequel I've had the misfortune to watch has been atrocious, almost like it came from another company. All of the Disney magic is just gone. They only feel like the pitiful attempt of small minds to make more money off the ideas of geniuses. So my answer would be: all the sequels/prequels are bad, because they were a really bad idea to begin with.

I pretty much only care about animated stuff, so I won't comment on the live action sequels/remakes.
I don't expect a sequel to match the original, I know it's an inferior product. In my opinion, if you are passing it as a new movie, I think the least one could expect is that they bother to write an hour-long script.
Therefore, to me the worst of the pack are the ones with several shorts "glued" together. This includes things like Cinderela 2, Milo's Return and Kronk's New Groove ( I haven't seen Tarzan and Jane and Belle's Magical World, so I can't tell whether these have some redeeeming quality, though I doubt it
).
Hunchback II may be worst in animation quality, but I'd still rather watch it than any of the ones I mentioned above.
As for the best ( not counting The rescuers Down Under, which is a totally different animal, and better than the original ), to me it's Bambi 2. I enjoyed the story about Bambi and The Prince ( perhaps because as a father I could relate to it easily ), the animation and the fact that it addressed something I always considered a flaw in the original ( which, I note, is among my top 3 favourite DACs ): the gap between the death of Bambi's mother and bambi's return as an ...huh... adolescent.
Cheers

I think the "2" itself builds up the expectations. As I said before, if it wasn't fully labeled as a sequel (Aladdin's sequel was just "Return of Jafar"and Stitch! The Movie wasn't the actual sequel) it probably wouldn't disappoint so much.
I think a number of sequels could either be considered just playful little expansions on characters and stories. Also, when you take the best ones (primarily the ones near the beginning and the end of the sequel craze) you can see that they have more work and care in them.
Cinderella III might have its issues, but they really went out on a limb with it, and I respect that. Same with Lion King 1 1/2. It was irreverent and silly, and its odd numeration and fourth wall breaking lets you not take it seriously as a seqel and completely eliminated from the canon if you want. I'm not saying all should be silly and weird, but a good sequel needs to bring something new to the table and go all the way. That's why even the "good" sequels often feel half baked to me. It also needs that extra bit of effort and imagination.
So... which sequels had the most unused potential, do you think? I've already mentioned that The Lion King II would have been much better had they had the nerve to keep in certain scenes ("Well, I got your attention now, didn't I? Didn't I?") and put in more depth (come on, they meet only once or twice and then they're in love and completely trusting? Maybe Kovu and Kiara should have been, say, secret friends meeting as cubs repeatedly when nobody noticed. They can't mirror Simba and Nala simply by being male and female).
TLM II coulda been better if... that locket was designed a little better. It's such a huge thing, an eyesore if you ask me. Yeah, there's more I could say.

Despite the episodic formats of Cinderella II and Tarzan & Jane, I actually liked them. I liked the characters well enough. The other episodic movies didn't do anything for me, and as I said before, Atlantis II bored me straight to sleep.
Lion King 1 and a Half was....weird. Timon and Pumbaa paused it way too much! Lion King II, TLM II, and Lady & the Tramp II weren't the worst things ever, but I can't really say I liked them. The plots were overdone. The offspring rebels in the same way the parent or parents did! Hey, look! Love interest for the offspring! The family learns to see things through each other's eyes! WHOO-HOO. Oh, please. Enough already!
Mulan II didn't exactly follow that method. The princesses, mostly Mei, did go against their father's wishes but the story was handled better. Nowhere did the Emperor yell, "YOU DELIBERATELY DISOBEYED ME!" Besides, Ting-Ting won me over with that movie. She's exactly my type of character.
Return to Neverland also did a better job with that plotline. I like Wendy so much better as a mother than I liked her at Jane's age, actually. And I did like Jane.
I didn't like Stitch! The Movie, but I did like Lilo and Stitch II. I didn't really pay attention to Leroy and Stitch, so I can't say if I liked it or not.

That's hot.
