Although I never made it to the theaters to see Arthur and the Invisibles, I still plan to buy the DVD, mainly because it's Madonna's first appearance as a CGI animated character. You'll have to let me know how the movie is!
I plan on watching it tomorrow during my plane flight to Orlando so I'll let you know this week! :D

Today, I got my order from FYE.com:

Mrs. Doubtfire: Behind-The-Seams Edition (2-Disc)! My total came to $10.92, because I got $10.00 off for using Google Checkout!

Thanks for the tip on ordering this, Escapay! I'm so glad to finally have this on DVD!!!
Woohoo!

:pink: :pink: :pink:

I was perusing through the set last week, and absolutely love all the vintage materials they included (especially Stage A and the Publicity stuff). And be sure to look out for Mrs. Featherbottom. ;)
PeterPanfan wrote:How is Beauty and the Beast? I'm not completely sure if I should buy it. Also, how are the special features?
Beauty and the Beast is one of those rare gems in television that is a unique and fantastic blend of fantasy, romance, and good ole human drama. It's rather an acquired taste, and can seem quite silly to people new to the series. But it's one of my favorite short-lived tv shows (2.5 seasons, though many fans like to just *forget* about that abbreviated third season), and I'm grateful to finally have it on DVD. And one of my absolute favorite episodes ("Promises of Someday") is on the first season set, making me extra giddy! Last time I saw any of these episodes was the summer of 2001, when Hallmark Channel used to run it weekdays at midnight.

As for the special features...

[Escapay's Sarcasm]The special features are outstanding! I mean, we get original tv spots for the show, which I personally love as they show how CBS masterfully marketed the show on Friday nights (with Dallas and Falcon Crest!). And there's these great isolated scores for select episodes that showcase the sweeping orchestral music. The theme song is one of my favorite things in the show, and one of my favorite tv show themes ever.

I especially love the episode commentaries with Linda Hamilton, Ron Perlman, and Ron Koslow, they offer a lot of great insight into the series as well as fun and enjoyable memoirs of working on the show. However, I'm most grateful for the in-depth 60-minute documentary about the making of Season One, and the shorter featurettes that look at specific aspects of the show like its writing, the wardrobe for the tunnel people, and a look at Vincent's "beastly" make-up. It's a wonderful extras-filled set for one of the most underrated fantasy series ever. [/Escapay's Sarcasm]

Yeah...no special features. Which totally sucks.

Thanks for the pink dancing elephants! :D

Have a safe trip! I can't wait to hear your review of Arthur and the Invisibles.

I actually put Mrs. Doubtfire in the DVD player, this evening, and have watched about half of it. It is a wonderful transfer, that's for sure. I didn't expect for it to look as good as it does.

Man, I love this film! It's just so freaking funny and touching.

Using my Best Buy Reward Zone members card I have picked up recently:

The Battle For Iwo Jima - 5-disc Collector's Edition - This set features the two-disc Special Editions of "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Letters From Iwo Jima", and a bonus disc that has the A&E Documentary "Heroes of Iwo Jima" along with a 1945 Academy Award nominated short film called "To The Shores of Tripoli". Really good set, and really good price - $39.99

Also picked up at Best Buy:

Labyrinth - 5.99

Moonraker - The newly remastered Bond film with DTS 5.1 sound -7.99

You Only Live Twice - Sean Connery is James Bond in this remastered film with Anamorphic Film Transfer and DTS 5.1 sound. - 7.99

The Man With The Golden Gun - Roger Moore as Bond in this newly remastered film with DTS 5.1 sound. - 7.99

The World Is Not Enough - Pierce Brosnan is James Bond in this newly remastered version with DTS 5.1 sound. - 7.99

Trouble Along The Way - part of the salute to John Wayne on his 100th birthday, this film features Wayne as a 'not-by-the-book' football coach who is brought in to save a college from closing and falls in love with the beautiful Donna Reed. The film also co-stars Charles Coburn and Chuck Connors. 9.99

Big Jim McLain - John Wayne and James Arness chase communist party members plotting against the US in a film that was the first to be totally filmed in the garden state of Hawaii. Lots of action and lots of fun. - 9.99

Rio Bravo - Special 2-Disc Edition - Howard Hawks' critically acclaimed western starring the Duke along with Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson, Walter Brennan and a very young Angie Dickinson. One of John Wayne's finest westerns. - 12.99

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl - Blu-Ray Hi-Definition Disc. - 22.99

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - Blu-Ray Hi-Definition Disc. - 22.99

And June looks like it may be a pretty big month also.

The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

Got Mrs. Doubtfire for $19.99 at F.Y.E. One wonders if Fox delayed the release to incorporate the deleted scenes back into the movie, a la Big and That Thing You Do... :?

Online or in-store? I'm making a trip to the mall tomorrow and was hoping to find a copy at my local F.Y.E.

I guess I could have waited until I went and looked myself, but I'm just too curious! I haven't seen this movie in it's entirety in years and I'm just dying to watch it! It's just brilliant, to say the least.

If that's the case, maybe they can also include the Chris Columbus commentary from the old DVD as well, along with the originally announced Robin Williams/Marsha Garces Williams commentary, the also-announced-but-no-show gag reel, and the deleted scene and cast interviews from the old DVD that weren't carried over to the new one.

Anyway...

Cinema Paradiso: Two-Disc Deluxe Edition - I would've gotten the Limited Edition (with soundtrack CD and some recipe cards and other non-DVD materials), but I figured I'd hardly ever look at the non-DVD stuff, and I can just get the soundtrack on its own, with its price making up the difference between the Deluxe and the Limited Edition.

In-store. I went to two different stores, and they both had it. Only difference was one had it for $22.99, and one had it for $19.99. Both stores had only one copy.

Do you have The Meaning of Life yet? If you care about extras, the 2-disc set is getting hard to find, you might be able to find one used, or order it online from a few stores for about $20.
