Beauty and the Beast

Almost 16 years later and this movie still amazes me.

uhm...didn't watch any movies today...on sunday, i watched The Black Dahlia. It was awful. i kept falling asleep.

I made my way through my Disney DVD collection, finding a particular title to feed in the hungry DVD player. I closed my eyes and tried to run my finger though the DVDs one by one. I stopped the "stupidity act" and opened my eyes, only to discover that my finger was touching the Pocahontas 10th Anniversary 2-Disc Special Edition DVD. I was like, "Okay." I haven't seen the film in months and I want to resurrect my love towards it. Being highly underrated by critics and audiences alike, I undoubtedly fed the DVD player with its first Disc. I must say that the If I Never Knew You song has no reason to be cut in the original theatrical release. I thought it was one of the most romantic songs ever to come from Disney.

Anyway, I was stunned by the beautiful visuals, colorful animation, and phenomenal songs. This may not have a "and they lived happily ever after" ending, but the story will never fail to inspire, to soar your spirits high, and to warm your hearts. Add the fine and crisp restoration of the film and you'll be more than satisfied. It may also not measure up to the finest Disney animations such as the four classics that preceded it. But I can see nothing wrong with the film. It's a romantic love story and it just happened to be animated. Ignoring the film being sadly underrated, I call it "The Most Beautiful Disney Animated Classic."

With all those things being said, a 9/10 would suffice.

I used to do that, now I have a big bowl full of slips of paper with movie names on them, thats how I pick movies now (since I hate standing there looking for one)

Anways, I watched Emperors New Groove. I had forgotten how much I like Yzma, so it was like seeing it all over again. I still hate how Kuzco interrupts the movie twice though

Watched Rocky Balboa last night.

Quite enjoyed it, let's hope he does let it rest now.

It was a bit unbelievable that this 60 year old fighter came back and took on the current heavyweight champion, but it's Rocky, and Rocky films have never been known for their believability. At the end of the day it's an underdog story, and it works for what it is.

Got to say though, although Stallone looks old, it would be nice to be that fit at that age.

What's the world coming to though - new Rocky movie, new Die Hard this summer and new Indy next year. I thought Dinosaurs went out with the last Jurassic Park!

I just watched POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl for the first time in a loooooong time. I had forgotten how much I really LOVE that movie. Geoffrey Rush is the best!

Last night I watched Curse of the Golden Flower. This was a tough call, it had a really melodramatic story to it, however everything else was top notch. Cinematography, set design, art direction and costumes are among the most beautiful ever to be put on film. It's almost worth seeing it just for that.

Overall grade: B-

Went to a special 'Invitation Only' screening of Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End tonight. Don't want to spoil it for you, but it is outstanding. It is almost 3 hours long (2 hours 56 minutes), and all of our questions get answered and then some. Outstanding Special Effects, and Capt. Jack Sparrow is truly the star of this one along with Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom. All the bad guys are there, and this film really rocks.

I will have a complete review later this week. Don't miss this one!!!!
