Spider-Man 3- Okay but not as good as the first two films. B-

I don't think so. Certainly not with a different cover.

I think I bought my copy in 2005, not positive about that year. If that is the year I got it, that was when it was still out of print.

Officially, no one might have gotten a copy in 2003, when it was originally slated for release. However, it has been reported by my official source, Allmovie.com, that the DVD was basically re-released to some extent 2 and a half years later in January, 2006. So that might be when I got my copy. But I'm not sure. I bought my copy from the zShop at Amazon.com (for a very reasonable $10 something).

I'm not sure if you can find it in stores now or whatever. But checking on Amazon.com... They have it in-stock themselves for $12.99, plus the standard 2.59 s&h. Which is quite the relief, because it was rumored that the copies of the DVD already made would never be released or sold, even online at major retailers. I imagine the copies Amazon are selling now will also say 2003 on the back of the cover, when the DVD was produced.

A lot of people saw that movie for the first time on either Cinemax/HBO or by renting the VHS whenever it came out. I saw it on TV and always remembered it. I didn't think it was necessarily good or bad, for the most part I remember thinking it wasn't a very good movie because the death scenes weren't very bloody and gory (I've come a long way since then, obviously). But I decided to buy it because of all the amazingly positive reviews online. Quite a few different horror review sites praised the film with the highest possible ratings. Among them, The Video Graveyard and The Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror review site (now called Moria and with a full redesign of its website). That made me rethink buying it on DVD. That and the psychotic online controversy as to why MGM would release the Jeepers Creepers movies and not Clownhouse... I got it finally, re-watched it, and it just happens to be a classic, creepy scarefest.

Re-watched Dust Devil (1992), yet again... Much better than any of the last viewings. Hopefully this is one of those 'it gets better with every viewing' movies.

and:

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (aka- The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue) (1973) - A bit flawed... but in light of how disappointing whole portions of Tombs of the Blind Dead were, this film looks a lot better in comparison. I'll give it an improved A- rating. Sometimes, this movie just works a real magic over you. More than worth checking out, despite the many problems with it's zombies.

Thanks, Laz.

I had read about the controversy regarding the film's director (there was a minor uproar when his film Powder got a release as well). Gonna have to eventually blindbuy it off amazon based on your recommendation, thanks!

Just finished watching That Thing You Do - The Tom Hanks Extended Edition and since I know the theatrical version like the back of my hand it was a pleasure to see all the added footage in the extended cut. Wow, at the end of the first hour of the movie, they still hadn't met Tom Hanks. Lots of neat scenes that make a lot of sense being there. The movie didn't drag, and I think the additional scenes were exceptionally well-done.

It is a two-disc DVD set with both the theatrical version and the extended cut on the first disc. The second disc has all the extras including two songs not included in the movie, a reunion with the cast of "That Thing You Do", and a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the film. There are some other things that were on the first release that are also included.

Yeah, perhaps if it weren't for that, the DVD might have gotten some special features.

Chernabog_Rocks wrote:My new Friday the 13th dvd's parts 1,2,4
You bought them separately? Even I have to say, snag the boxset. There aren't enough bonuses but what little they did give us is basically worth the $38-40 pick-up. But I did hear awhile back that WalMart was practically giving away their single-disc Friday the 13th DVDs at $5 or something... Even then, you'd still pay about $40 to score the whole Paramount series of 8 movies. At least with the boxset you get about 3 hours of featurettes and 4 whole commentaries, all of them very talkative and informative (the commentaries for parts 6 and 3 are worth the boxset price alone).

I watched Full Tilt Boogie - the feature-length documentary on the making of Rodriguez/Tarantino's From Dusk Till Dawn... I think I can say without blinking... it's one of the best making-of movie documentaries ever made. Certainly the best I've ever seen. Of course, we don't see as much of the actors as we'd like, but we see about as much of them as we do the Craft Services guy and Quentin Tarantino's Assistant. A lot of great stuff about I.A.T.S.E. too, the film Unions organization. A lot of filmmakers complain about them a lot (Eli Roth only has "F" words to say about them), so it's great to see a little more time given to talk about them. There's also a very Michael Moore-ish scene where the director of the documentary's crew go looking for a representative of the I.A.T.S.E. to try and get him on camera and he refuses to talk on camera while trying to get security to force the women on the crew out of the building (the Boom Operator seemed to be the only guy on Sarah Kelly's crew).

Needless to say... Buy the 2-disc DVD of From Dusk Till Dawn just for this feature alone. At over 100 minutes, it's just extraordinary! A

That's not a movie. It's more of a tv show.

Finally saw Spider Man 3, and I can honestly say I don't understand why the negativity, I loved it. It was not as good as the second (I didn't expect it to be) but I liked it more than the first. Awesome superhero movie.

Well, it's ridiculous! The action is pretty cool, but the movie completely missed the comic book's point. The comic was a satire, but the movie they made out of it seems to be serious and is just a movie full of fascist-like crap!
Far too much pathos, and the dialogue is as bad as George Lucas' in Episode III. But if you watch it with that in mind, that you shouldn't take this as serious, and laugh at the shouting it is an amazingly entertaining movie!

I finished watching "Meet the Fockers," which was midly entertaining. I haven't seen the original in awhile, but I really don't think that this lives up to it.

I would buy the boxset if I could find one, the stores here are horrible for restocking shelves. Just finished watching The Snow Queen, it's not bad but it tends to drag on since it's a bit long and it was the 3rd time I've watched it this month.

Watched The Incredible Mr. Limpet for the first time in about twenty years. I bought this DVD when it was released, and I think my wife watched it once with the grandkids, but last night I sat down and watched it, and had forgotten how wonderfully entertaining it was. Don Knotts is a comedic genius. And the animation wasn't bad at all.

Rewatched Koyaanisqatsi for the 20th time or so last night - and showed it to a colleague who had never seen it before.

I saw Georgia Rule yesterday afternoon and let me tell you, the preview makes it look completely different than what it is. I went in expecting it to be a chick-flick-esque comedy, but it turned out to be a disturbing/depressing film about (SPOILER ALERT) a girl (Lindsay Lohan) who has serious issues due to the fact that she used to sleep with her step-father, starting at the age of 12. I will NEVER watch this movie again. I didn't even want to see it in the first place but my friend begged me to go because she's a huge Felicity Huffman fan. But to make a long story short, it was terrible and Lindsay Lohan should fall down a well.

Caught Meet The Parents last night on TV. Man, I'd forgotten how funny this movie is. If only the sequel followed in its footsteps and not the ones laid by one of Stiller's older, cruder movies. :headshake:
