I just watched Trust the Man last night. Wow - what an awful movie. Bad story, bad acting. Major Woody Allen rip-off.

Four weddings and a funeral One of those movies that you can watch over and over again without getting tired of it.

most of "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen"- I bought it used, and it was badly scratched, so it skipped in a part- I brought the DVD back to the store, the guy used this machine on it to make the scratches go away- for probably 45 minutes or more- and it looked a lot better, but the big scratch was still there; it played with Walt Disney Pictures logo and then froze. So I brought it back and traded it in.

"The Mighty Ducks"

"D3: The Mighty Ducks"

(I bought those 2 used, and I have yet to have "D2", even though that's my favorite of the three and I used to have it on VHS).

I finished up Silly Syphonies vol 2 and I'm currently in Disney Rarites which in turn inspired moi to make a vid featuring Oswald/Alice Comedies.

My English teacher brought in Diary of a Mad Black Woman because she said it had some similarities to the book we were reading (Their Eyes Were Watching God, which we watched the tv version of earlier).

Watched a couple on TV over the week...

Desperado (1995) - D. What an insanely predictable, cliched, unimpressive, overrated, and boring piece of tripe. It was so bad, I laughed. A lot. Desperately lacked the foul-mouthed, sassy little Asian girl from "Four Rooms': The Misbehavors." At least then, the humor would have been intentional. Only 1 moment I didn't predict... The capture of the knife-slinger. I thought he just might get away. Hmmph... some deadly-assassin he turned out to be, he couldn't even catch a wounded Antonio Banderas. Can't he learn to throw 2 knives at once? The action scenes were merely excessive. None of them, after the opening, were exciting.

and:

What a Girl Wants (2003) - C+. Better than the shorter clips I remember seeing. It's certainly not funny. But the romantic chemistry between her and the cute British boy was surprisingly good. The music was also fun. But the story just had too many almost unbelievably sharp twists and turns. And the embarassing situational humor felt forced. Colin Firth was great though- he gave the best performance. It's certainly better though than that awful Princess Diaries.

Poseidon
I really don't know why this was as critically slated as it was. It's no masterpeice, but it does what you expect it to. I thought it was very good. People say the characters weren't defined, but they seemed well-rounded to me. I'd give this 8/10.

I saw In the Land of Women twice over the weekend. I dreaded going the first time, but after watching it I think it's safe to say that it's one of my favorite movies. It's probably the most original film I've seen in a long time. It was fantastic!

I want to go see it again!

Saved (2004)
Has anyone else seen this movie? It is insanely funny and satirical. Mandy Moore does a good job in this, and Jena Malone is great as Mary. It is such a great movie, sending up all the things that hardcore Christians do. I've got nothing against Christians or anything, but I loved how they just sent everything up, and how funny Hilary Faye is. My favourite character is Cassandra, and how she's so against them. I love how they're in assembly, and people are getting saved and everyone looks at her to get saved. Hilarious. If you enjoy poking fun at "god" and "jesus", then you'll love this movie. If you're Christian, then I'd steer clear of it. BTW, no offense intended to anyone. Overall, a great film. 8.5/10
