Well, they put both widescreen and full screen versions on the LatT Platinum Edition, but that was because it was theatrically shown in both. My hope is that "The Jungle Book" would contain both versions, but since, I think, it was only show theatrically in widescreen, that is what it will likely be in. But you never know, Disney is full of surprises.brotherbear wrote:So I've been wondering about this Platinum lately. Do you guys think that Disney will release TJB in widescreen or fullscreen? (or, even better, both)? The trailer itself is obviously in fullscreen, but so were the trailers for films like The Little Mermaid. What has me curious is the fact that the trailer for Aristocats is obviously in WIDEscreen.

The Jungle Book: Platinum Edition DVD Discussion
Thread got screwed up as the to-be-merged cover art thread wound up being the one that was merged into. It's fixed now, though it shows me as the thread starter, which I'm not and subscriptions will be messed up. I'll probably start a new thread on The Jungle Book once real information comes in, i.e. the press release we should be seeing soon.
Re: Jungle Book's Bonuses
I would guess there will be a DisneyPedia segment on this Platinum Edition as well. It's that segment that provides a short little bit of information on all the different animals present in the film. There was one on both Bambi and The Little Mermaid, and since The Jungle Book has plenty of animal friends, I would imagine that segment will show up on there as well. I hope so, I really like that part!Mason_Ireton wrote:Since the platinum trailer did say we'll get all new bonus feats. I have a feeling we'll reiceve the following

Re: Jungle Book Bonuses
I totaly forgot bout Disneypeida, for some reason I thought it'd show up on Pan's dvd, but then I remembered it was an all fantasy film *chuckles* I'm look forward to Backstage Disney's Documentaries, hopefuly we'll have another Inside Walt's Story Meetings, especialy when Pinocchio comes to dvd too. Seems like Snow White, Bambi, Peter Pan, Lady/Tramp, Pinocchio, 101 Dalmation and Jungle Book recieve mega promo due to their timeless legacy and the achievement Walt made with 'em. Though Peter kinda fell 3 inches of being chalk full of Bonus feats. I still appericate the care and restoration Disney provided on Walt's personal films (I.E Pinocchio, Bambi)

Well, new transfer and widescreen matting are two different things. It will get a new transfer for sure. The footage shown in the trailer is from the newly restored picture. Whether or not it'll be matted like Robin Hood and The Aristocats remains to be seen, though.SwordInTheStone777 wrote:Is The Paltinum Edition of Jungle Book going to be in a new transfer (aka Widescreen)? I hope it is, because Robin Hood was and so is The Aristocats Special Edition.

You left out Fantasia, by the way.CampbellzSoup wrote:I'm so excited for this one - after this only 101 dalmations, pinochio, and sleeping beauty left to go in the platinum line.
Hopefully by then we can get a 2 disc Hercules....
I too am very excited for this release!!! This (for me) is going to be the biggest wait of my life! I have waited since (around) 2005 for this release! I know that doesn't seem like long, but that's when I started collecting Disney DVDs! Actually, I've waited for The Jungle Book since around 1992-1994 (technically). I have NEVER owned TJB in any form, yet it is one of my all-time favorite Disney films. (I still don't own TJB in either VHS or DVD format!!) So this Platinum Edition is going to be REALLY big for me. I'm planning on buying it the day it comes out, and buying a plethora of Jungle Book plushies at the Disney Store to celebrate getting the film (finally).
But I can definately say that after Jungle Book, I'm really looking forward to Pinocchio and 101 Dalmatians PE's (and in that order).

Re: Louis Prima
You know BlackCauldron, that just crossed my mind, King Louie and Louis Prima are a perfect combination of personality animation, it's been said that Gia Prima, Louis's wife had a dispute over unpaid royalites from sales of Jungle Book merchndise. I'd be suprised if the Prima family threw another lawsuit at Disney just for doing a featurtte on Louis Prima.
Here's a link to the lawsuit.

Re: King Louie's Lawsuit
I believe it's been settled on Home Video sales, but I'm not sure bout character usage, it was probaly a big deal with TaeSpin due to extreme useage of Louie and Jim Cummings was near match to Louis's King Louie, this isn't the only time that Disney's star players sued Disney, Peggy Lee sued Disney for the same reasons as Mrs. Prima, unpaid royalites from various marketing of He's A Tramp.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peggy_Lee#Acting_career
I'm hoping Disney won't get sued just for releasing Jungle Book after a long time of being in the vault.

When Disney releases a two-disc DVD of "The Jungle Book" on the animated classic's 40th anniversary October 2, expect an army of shoppers to invade stores.
The studio has pegged just 14 animated feature films for "Platinum Edition" treatment, and "Jungle Book" is No. 10. As with the other DVDs in the high-end series, the movie has been restored and includes such new features as a suite of games, deleted scenes and songs, as well as a retrospective feature with Bruce Reitherman, the voice of Mowgli.
The DVD release will be accompanied by an array of "Jungle Book"-themed consumer products so that big retailers will be able to create "Jungle Book" sections in their stores.
Each March and again in October, a new two-disc Platinum Edition DVD of an animated classic is shipped to retailers. Invariably, it tops the sales chart and sells millions of copies, often beating a hot new feature film fresh from a profitable theatrical run.
This month, the Platinum Edition of "Pinocchio," which debuted in theaters in 1953, gave "Borat" a serious run for its money in stores when both titles came out the same day. In October, the Platinum Edition of "The Little Mermaid," a big-screen hit in 1989, sold 4 million copies in a single week. In October 2003, "The Lion King" sold 3 million DVDs in two days; in October 2001, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," the first Platinum Edition DVD, became the first DVD to sell 1 million units in a single day.
Obviously, they meant "Peter Pan", and not "Pinocchio". The only real news is the interview with Bruce Reitherman, which sounds really neat.

Re: Jungle Book Bonuses
Awesome news BlackCalurdon, thank you muy mas for posting this news, looking forward to the interviews and Backstage Disney features. I agree with Flanger-Hanger, Disneys seems to puting alot of work in Jungle Book then Peter Pan, probaly cause Jungle Book has Walt's hands littarly on there in the story development.

Re: Jungle Book Bonuses
Maybe, but lets also remember that Peter Pan was pushed forward in the platinum release schedule to coincide with the now (ironically) delayed Tinkerbell movie. They probably didn't have as much time as they would have liked to add in all the extras they wanted.Mason_Ireton wrote: I agree with Flanger-Hanger, Disneys seems to puting alot of work in Jungle Book then Peter Pan, probaly cause Jungle Book has Walt's hands littarly on there in the story development.
