From the bits I've seen of the Twin Peaks movie, I could probably prefer to turn away for many of the weird scenes.
I thought of two other major ones today too. I hate scenes of guys peeing blood. The one that comes to mind is the vampire urinal scene in Night Flyer. I have to turn away from that kind of stuff. Unfortunately, now I can't remember what the other thing was I had thought of.

I was a little kid when I watched E.T. for the first time, and to me it was so scary! I really couldn't stand watching it, and I was afraid of E.T.slave2moonlight wrote:Why? (By the way, I LOVE your avatar! I adore Belle with her hair down!)Dottie wrote:E.T. The whole movie!! Period.
I think that night I had a bad dream or about the movie, in which E.T. was out to get me or something, and from then on E.T. has scared the crap out of me. It's kind of trauma-like. I can't even look at E.T pictures.
Oh, and thanks, I found the avatar on a website for avatars, and I really liked it.

I can't stand any scenes where animals are hurt or end up dying. Like in that movie Project X (I think its called), with the chimp going into space. I saw it when I was little/younger and it made me cry and scarred me I have not seen that movie since!
I agree 1 million % with the paper cut scene in Jackass!!! It gives me goosebumps and practically makes me twitch from the thoguht of it!!

The first scene I think that affected me like that, speaking of horses, was that scene in The Never-Ending Story where Atrieau (?spelling?)'s horse sunk into the mud and we don't see what happened to it, so we have to assume it died. I think I almost screamed when I first saw that. I watched the movie again later and cried. But that first time, I literally had a hard time following the movie right after that moment ended. Now I'm a lot more used to it, but it is a terrifyingly sad, dramatic, tragic, and emotional moment which is played for all it's worth by the actor and that loud, overpowering '80s synth soundtrack, that is absolutely not easy to watch whatsoever. Even now.
Then, since we're talking about stuff that makes / made us cringe... the first scene like that, and I'll bet I've mentioned it before in a post somewhat like this, was the Armwrestling scene in David Cronenberg's 1986 remake of The Fly. When the payoff (for some) of that scene happened, I literally freaked out on first viewing. They could hear me next door. I couldn't even watch the next part of the movie. In fact, I probably turned the movie off at that point- I was afraid there would be more of it. It was years before I had the courage to watch the scene again on VHS and when the same came up, I still could remember the sound that guy makes after... it happens (I won't even say it). Anything to do with breaking bones in movies still bothers me (except for the sheriff's death in Friday the 13th part VI, that was almost comical it was so plain and ordinary feeling).
Gore never bothers me in movies (I'll bet you knew that
). The only thing that really bothers me is animal cruelty -the Rabbits scene in Pet Sematary 2 is downright filthy it's so nasty, I haven't seen the movie in years but I assumed those things were pets of the family that owned them and seeing what became of them made my blood boil - I was furious!
And, originally, scenes of people being violently killed in movies that are set to fun, happy, silly, upbeat songs. Like, when I first saw them, a couple of the movies I bought recently. It was around 1995 when I first saw Frostbiter: Wrath of the Wendigo and of course just the anticipation of what I had seen in the TV ad for the movie that made me record it had me really scared (or psyched) to see something freaky. But I was unpleased, to put it lightly, when Leo gets his hand bitten off and then Jerry spontaneously bursts into flames while the song on the soundtrack is this upbeat Prince-like funk rock-dance tune "Chili." It was seriously distasteful and I was disgusted and angered. Now it's not such a problem. But I literally remembered that scene for years before I bought the DVD last month. I remember once at an amusement park I was on one of those rides... I can't remember what it is usually called*, but even riding on that I suddenly was replaying the scene to that movie in my head - I couldn't escape it, even at the most fun places for a kid to be. The other scene, which I prompty tried to block from my mind immediately was in Jack Frost where the mother is killed with christmas ornaments and strangled while "Jingle Bells" plays merrily... her death is not merry, it's supposed to be scored as though it's a horrible thing happening to her. Besides, her character, although annoying, was completely nice and sweet and good-hearted. That is just tasteless and tactless for a filmmaker to do.
Now, the scenes that bother me the most are still pretty much in the Friday the 13th series when someone says something incredibly stupid or can't act and says a line really badly. Especially in parts 4 and 6. The Nurse in part 4 can't act to save her life. So when she says her lines about "the superbowl of self-abuse," and "you better get that sucker in the icebox" - I am literally imagining that I'm somewhere else. In part 6, it's the scene in the sheriff's office with the totally out of nowhere "don't piss me off junior, or I will repaint this office with your brains." Um... with a line like that you would have thought the set-up line the other guy had would have to have been something like "your wife [not so nice] my [you don't need to hear this] last night and has every night this week."

I was watching Bad Santa on Comedy Central yesterday and remembered a couple from that film. Definitely, the scene where the kid sneezes the chocolate all over his face. Sick. I hate to see food sneezed out or accidentally spit (this was something I dreaded in the lunchrooms at school as a kid). Another thing I hate is boogers, and I had forgotten the scene in that film where they first show the main little boy, with the snot coming out of his nose! That is soooo gross. Plus, it reminded me of the one I forgot yesterday: The booger scene in Sixteen Candles!

I saw that movie one time, but I don't remember much of it. The scene with the mouse made me so sad.Jeffel wrote:The bit in The Green Mile where what's-his-face gets electorcuted without the wet sponge.
I agree. It just makes me so sad.DisneyFanatic wrote:I can't stand any scenes where animals are hurt or end up dying.

I know that Wikipedia can be wrong, but I found this out from Wikipedia and wonder if it is true:Lazario wrote:The first scene I think that affected me like that, speaking of horses, was that scene in The Never-Ending Story where Atrieau (?spelling?)'s horse sunk into the mud and we don't see what happened to it, so we have to assume it died. I know that's got to make things a little harder, but I thought it would be something you'd like to know.In the scene where Artax the dies in the swamps of sadness the horse had to be tied down to a lowering platform to keep it in place. The horse was supposed to 'sink' but he really did. The platform lifts failed after "cut" was shouted, the platform got stuck under the sludge, and the horse died.
Speaking of The Neverending Story, the giant turtle, Morla, scares me very much. When I was little, I had to hide under the bed to feel it was safer to watch the part with her in it. A while ago, I Googled her in images and got shivers just from seeing thumbnails of her. I bet a lot of it has to do with her glassy eyes. I can watch her, but I'd prefer to do it with people, and curled up, and not about to go to bed right afterward.

No mention of this on IMDb. However, they claim that the actor Noah Hathaway was pulled under the Swamp of Sadness set and was trapped there and knocked unconscious before being brought back up.Disney Duster wrote:I know that Wikipedia can be wrong, but I found this out from Wikipedia and wonder if it is true:I know that's got to make things a little harder, but I thought it would be something you'd like to know.In the scene where Artax the dies in the swamps of sadness the horse had to be tied down to a lowering platform to keep it in place. And that turtle was female? I never knew that.

For me the movie I cant ever watch has got to be Stephen King's It. ugh..... That killer clown still haunts my dreams. It all started when I was about 6 and the rest of my family was watching the movie. We were on vacation at a relative's house and they had told the kids that we were not allowed to watch.
So my cousin and I (we are the same age) had to leave, but being little children we always wanted to be part of the action and so we cleverly devised a plot to allow us to stay. We stayed in the hallway by the TV room, and we told them that we were playing hopskotch on the tiles. But in actuality we just wanted to see the big grown up movie. That was the worst decision of my life.
Since we were trying to be stealthy, I only kept catching certain clips. And seeing the worst parts of movies without seeing the whole picture can really scare you. I never finished the movie, I never found out he was defeated. I just remember seeing him open his huge mouth and devour these little kids. It was tramautic! I had nightmares for years. And all becuase a freakin' clown............that happens to eat little kids.....
