I saw The Queen last night. Very good film, I was very pleased it wasn't as dry or stiff as I thought it might have been. Helen Mirren really does give a great performance, and I gaurantee she'll be taking home a statuette come Oscar night.
As for Best Picture, I'm still putting my faith in The Departed. Still haven't seen Babel or Letters from Iwo Jima, but I plan to see the latter this weekend and rent the former on Tuesday.
Cheers,
JM

I saw Dreamgirls in the theater yesterday, and absolutely loved it!!
Great actors, (Go Jennifer fpr that Oscar!!!) great music, the story was pretty good, and they are all great singers. I never liked Beyoncé's music, but in Dreamgirls her voice is stunning!! But Hudson is better.
I wonder why the movie didn't get a "Best Picture" Oscar nomination?

THE PACIFIER (Disney Movie) and Nanny Mcphee.
I thought both were great. Nanny McPhee was excellent.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

This was an excellent film. It was quite enjoyable. My dad, who took me, did not particularly care for it, but I thought it was rather good. It calls for a definite DVD purchase!

My sides are still hurting from the laughter from watching Flushed Away, the Aardman/Dreamworks movie. I thought it was incredible how they did the CGI to make it look like the signature Claymation/Stop-motion animation of Aardman. There are even visual thumbprints in the movie. The characters are all really well drawn, and the story is really funny. The songs are pretty good, probably the only drawback to the movie. It is really a very funny movie and I will rate it 3.5/5 stars. I liked it.

The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

That's when it was first released on VHS. I saw the movie on TV in '94 / '95. And that means the film was looking for distributers for years before Troma picked it up. The movie End Credits don't say when it was made either. The DVD credits are different than the Cinemax showing credits. It's not in the film or on the back of the DVD cover. And there's no info on the IMDb to say what year filming took place.JiminyCrick91 wrote:IMDb says 1996.Lazario wrote:Frostbiter (199? - I thought it was 1991, now I'm not so sure) - B- (pleasently surprised)
You can't trust IMDb on matters like this. They've been wrong before. Especially with Troma movies. They say House on Tombstone Hill was 1991. Not true: 1988. They say Stuff Stephanie in the Incinerator was 1989. Not true: 1987. They say Cannibal! The Musical was 1996. Not true: 1993. And these dates were actually in the movie end credits, for each. IMDb is telling us when it was first released on VHS.
my last seen:
The Church (1989) - D
Monkey Shines (1988) - C-
