Yeah, Jake your right. Only 3. Must of have a brain-fart.

Anyhow a few minor items to report (after a long quiet period)

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN ENGLISH MOTION MENUS

WHISPER OF THE HEART - ENGLISH DVD MOTION MENUS (I think this is a Studio Ghibli film)

POCAHONTAS SPECIAL EDITION - DVD MENUS

HOLES - DVD MENUS

FINDING NEMO - EXTRA DVD BONUS COMPILATION
00:01:30:04 | BEYOND THE SEA PERFORMED BY ROBBIE WILLIAMS
00:01:30:05 | FINDING NEMO (1) X MUSIC VIDEO ALL ANIMATION MUSIC VIDEO

Is the Robbie Williams "Music Video" on the R1 disc? (I use quotes, as it's rather short)

DISNEY FABLES VOL.6 MOTION MENUS

Like I said, nothing special to post, but It's good to have something to post again!

Minor Disney things on the listing today. I've mentioned the extra Pocahontas supplements on it's own thread. Other than that we just had menus:

DISNEY FABLES - VOLUME 5 - INTRO AND MAIN MENU
00:00:36:03 | INTRO AND MAIN MENU
00:00:36:02 | MAIN MENU LOOP

No mention of the contents, but presumably the same as Australia and Europe.

POCAHONTAS - SPECIAL EDITION - EXTRA DVD MENUS
00:00:44:21 | INTRO MAIN MENU
00:00:20:00 | MAIN MENU LOOP

POCAHONTAS - SPECIAL EDITION - DVD EXTRA BONUS COMPILATION
00:03:17:13 | P3 - BUILD A DRUM
00:03:49:07 | P4 - CREATE A DREAMCATCHER

These last two supplements seem to be "Disney Art Projects"

THE LIZZIE MCGUIRE MOVIE - ENGLISH MOTION MENUS
00:00:45:21 | INTRO AND MAIN MENU
00:00:30:00 | BONUS MENU

THE MAGICAL WORLD OF WINNIE THE POOH D1 - VOLUME 5 - ENGLISH MOTION MENUS
00:01:30:02 | INTRO AND MAIN MENU
00:01:30:01 | MAIN MENU LOOP

Enough with the Pooh! How about some House of Mouse?

I wish BVUK would hurry up and send the features for "Alice In Wonderland" to be rated. I want this DVD so bad!!!! I can't be bothered to buy the R1 version until I know that Alice wont be released over here.

A few more today:

The long awaited:

THE DEVIL AND MAX DEVLIN
Run Time 91m 15s
Widescreen

Next, not Disney, but a Buena Vista release, this give the episode titles for the DVD:

X-MEN - WOLVERINE'S STORY

00:19:42:01 | REPO MAN
00:18:43:19 | REUNION - PART ONE
00:18:44:00 | REUNION - PART TWO
00:23:19:19 | WEAPON X LIES AND VIDEO TAPE

The next indicates no Davy Crockett Treasures for the UK, but it's probably doubtful if we'll see the Mickey and Silly Symphonies Treasures sets over here (they keep getting pushed back)

DAVY CROCKETT AND THE RIVER PIRATES
Run Time 77m 58s
Re-edited version

Not sure that the re-edited version means. Probably it's just a hangover from being the tv episodes edited together (a quick look through the title's history in the BBFC database indicates no trims in the past)

KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE
Run Time 100m 17s

KIM POSSIBLE - THE SECRET FILES
Run Time 67m 20s

RECESS - ALL GROWED DOWN
Run Time 57m 35s

RECESS - TAKING THE FIFTH GRADE
Run Time 59m 9s

THE LION KING 3 - HAKUNA MATATA!
Run Time 73m 5s

Only 73 minutes? Probably about 75 minutes for the NTSC release.

This next entry confuses me. It appears to be the Silly Symphonies contents:

WALT DISNEY PRESENTS A SILLY SYMPHONY - THE UGLY DUCKLING
Run Time 77m 13s
10 Cartoons, NATURE ON SCREEN

If you're wondering about the contents of the Sweetheart Stories DVD this Valentine's Day here they are:

SWEETHEART STORIES
Run Time 67m 6s

00:07:45:22 | SOCIETY DOG SHOW
00:06:28:21 | DONALD'S DOUBLE TROUBLE
00:06:36:19 | PLUTO'S HEART THROB
00:07:49:16 | SUSIE THE LITTLE BLUE COUPE
00:07:53:08 | PUPPY LOVE
00:07:55:08 | YE OLDEN DAYS
00:09:01:22 | PECULIAR PENGUINS
00:06:31:06 | IN DUTCH
00:07:02:24 | DONALD'S DILEMMA

Of course, YE Olden Days should be black and white. I expect it to be a colourised version though.

I wonder if this means we'll be getting a widescreen "Devil and Max Devlin" DVD release from Disney soon in the US. Probably not; at least the widescreen Anchor Bay DVD is okay (but OOP).

75 minutes isn't too short for a DTV release, really. I don't think Disney has ever really tried to go over 85 minutes with those.

Here come the Treasures:

WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE - THRU THE MIRROR
WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE - THE BAND CONCERT
WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE - MICKEY'S AMATEURS
WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE - HAWAIIAN HOLIDAY
WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE - BOAT BUILDERS
WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE - ALPINE CLIMBERS

More Pooh, in the form of the extras for the upcoming DTV release:

WINNIE THE POOH - SPRINGTIME WITH ROO - DVD BONUS COMPILATION
(however the 'compilation' only seems to contain 1 item)
00:03:39:22 | DISNEY'S ART PROJECT

Still no sign of a commentary for Pocahontas being passed.

My guess is that the BBFC is going to have a shed load of Disney stuff to rate in the up coming 2 months. I bet we see the treasures cartoons rated by the end of the month and also the commentary track for Pocahontas.
After that I bet we slowly start seeing the features for Alice In Wonderland and Lilo and Stitch start slowly coming in.

Disney tend to release their animated classic's in March, July/August and November (not including the "platinum" film). If they want to keep to this timetable then their either going to have to release Pocahontas here first or release Alice around April time.

Disney also really need to sort of what their release date for the treasures is going to be but seeing these ratings give me some new hope for them being released soon.

Edit: I wonder when we'll see the "Brother Bear" DVD over here. Since we got the movie only a month after the states it should seem we'd get the DVD a month after as well. Maybe another release for April?

I'm not back home yet. The nightmare journey home is tomorrow! Thanks and the same to you.

I've a UK DVD magazine which has some news on Disney's DVD plans. Brother Bear is down as first week of June (seems a longer than normal wait) and Pocahontas is down for a 'Spring' release. Probably April (I would guess). No word on a new Alice release (Or Lilo and Stitch, or Mary Poppins).

Hmm...if you guys do get Pocahontas in April it'll be earlier than we do (curently May.)

Strange that Disney has a mind to release Pocahontas before Alice over there. Lookin at blackstar.co.uk, it seems like you've got a solid Pocahontas disc already
The making of Pocahontas (30 mins). Character design featurette. The music of Pocahontas featurette. Storyboard to film comparison. Deleted sequence. 'If I Never Knew' - deleted song. Multi language reel - 'Colors of the Wind' sung in several different languages. Follow your Heart - a destination trivia game.
As opposed to Alice, where it seems that the R2 release is more or less equeal to our R1 Gold version (although I don't remember the gallery or Thru the Mirror on the R1 Gold.)
'All in a Golden Afternoon' sing along song. Featurette 'Operation Wonderland: The Making of Alice in Wonderland'. Alice in Wonderland still frame gallery. 'Escape from Wonderland' interactive game. 'Through The Mirror' cartoon.
I'd say that of the two, the UK release has more room for improvement on Alice, which is why it seems strange that BVHE UK isn't hurrying it along. But you WILL be getting it. Look at blackstar.co.uk's page for the current DVD:
Deleted
This item has been deleted in the UK since 5th Nov 2003
Try our Video Hunt service if you would like us to try to find this title.
I'd assume that deletion is the UK equivilant of out-of-print, correct? If this is the case I'd assume you're going to be getting the SE version.

Thanks for the heads up James. June does seem extermly late for Brother Bear but I guess we've got Pocahontas to keep us going until then (I'll have to remember to sell my current one disc).

I also wonder if we'll be seeing either a Mulan or Make Mine Music release this year?

They all seem to be a part of the FIND THE FACE GAME, it would make sense to only use Lion King characters, but oh well. None of us normally like the games anyway.

Not much to report. The actual Lion King 3 film has now gone through:

THE LION KING 3 - HAKUNA MATATA!
Run Time 73m 5s

Closed Captioned, Widescreen

I'm still expecting a second round of supplements to be passed soon.

No, it is going to be released on DVD here in Brazil as well. Some other "Jungle Cubs" titles are also slated for release. Check out my "Future Brazilian Releases" post.

Well, the world's officially gone mad, if Disney's first proper TV releases on DVD (barring Pooh) are The Jungle Cubs. Who makes these decisions?

They have hundreds of hours of television cartoons - House of Mouse, Gargoyles, Rescue Rangers, Bonkers, Aladdin, Ariel The Little Mermaid, Tarzan, Ducktales, Darkwing Duck... and they release Jungle Cubs? And only a poxy hour compilation at that?

Obviously, they are testing the market - if consumers will buy up this, they'll buy anything.

What worries me most about this decision is not the fact that they have released one of their lesser toons on DVD (which is owrrying in itself, but as Marvel shows - if you can make a profit off a lesser properties - Blade, for example - then imagine what you can do with a bigger one i.e. Spider-Man, the X-Men).

What I AM worried about is that it is a "compilation" - will Disney release all TV shows on DVD in this form, I wonder? I suspect they will, because season box sets (despite their success in mainstream markets), don't have "family" appeal (whatever that is by their reckoning).
