UPDATE.......................UPDATE.........................UPDATE...............

First I want to say thanks for all the support from everyone. Since this is the first time I am having actual surgery, I am a little scared, and I needed all the assurance I could get that everything will be okay.

It is 8 a.m. here in Wichita, I enter the Surgicare Center at 10 a.m., surgery is scheduled for about 11 a.m. and I should be home before 2 pm. Then it is on the road to recovery and getting back to work by the first week or so of March.

Will be away from the boards for about three days, so look for me Saturday at the latest.

Hi dvdjunkie

Don't worry everything will go smoothly as I have had several surgeries due to my Billateral Cleft Lip and Palate. I had my first surgery when I was a 3 week old baby. My Latest surgery was getting my Wisdom Teeth pulled and that is the first surgery I had in the big Adult Hopsital because all previous surgeries were done at a Children's Hopsital.. But everything went great... Surgery is never something you like nor is it somethign you really get use to.. I remember when I was 8 to 10 years old I saw the guy who puts you to sleep and I saw his name tag and This was shortly after I saw the Lion King and I came out of the operating room telling my mom and dad that "Mufasa put me to sleep" I thought this foreign doctor's name was similair looking. Also I remeber during that same surgery I struggled a lot want to go to the operating table but hey I was only 8 to 10 years old then and a differ doctor said next time he was going to have to put me to sleep for a surgery he was going to call Hulk Hogan the wrestler. Of Course now a days I don't do that anymore I mean struggle with the docotors.

Also for you the operation will feel like 5 minutes between the time you are put to sleep and when you wake up when the surgery is done.

Good luck dvdjunkie I will for sure keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE........................UPDATE!!!................................UPDATE........

I SURVIVED!!

Hi everyone, I am feeling fine after a couple of harrowing days recovering from my surgery on Tuesday.

I was admitted in the Surgicare Center at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, and discharged from the Center at 12:50 p.m. that afternoon. Total time for the surgery was 58 minutes and 40 seconds, and according to the nurse's report I left the surgery room in excellent condition.

Don't remember much after they wheeled me in the surgery room. We were talking about who is going to win the Super Bowl (THE COLTS, naturally) and the next thing I remember was my wife offering me a sip of water in the recovery room. After I got home, I don't remember a whole lot of the day, except I got some great drugs for the pain - Darva-Set.

Wednesday I was feeling well enough to get out my 'old folks' walker and hobble into the Home Theater where I watched a little television and two movies - "M*A*S*H" and "A Bridge Too Far".

Tomorrow I go to the doctor for post-op look at things and a change of dressings, and then next Friday, if everything goes okay, the stitches come out and then I am on the road to recovery.

Thanks everybody for the well wishes, and I want to say the UDers are the best people in the whole wide world. I love you all!!

Good to hear that you are doing well, Bill!

Aren't drugs for pain a wonderful thing?! A few years back, a lady rear ended my car, going 50 miles an hour. Needless to say, my back was out of whack (unfortunately, it hasn't been the same since), and I was on an awesome pain killer AND a muscle relaxer. Needless to say, for about two weeks, I felt like I was floating on a cloud. Of course, after that came the physical therapy, which was a big pain in the you know what!

By the way, did you get one of your family members to go out and pick up Madonna: The Confessions Tour (CD/DVD)? If they did not, let me know, and I'll give them a good scolding!

I am assuming you mean to say that you ARE looking at the cover of the Madonna DVD. I know, the drugs. Great stuff! I'm glad that your daughter bought it for you. I am sure you will enjoy it! Good luck at the doctor appointment!
