kurtadisneyite what do you think and feel about all these " error fixes". I would really love if you went in depth with Snow White's Restoration. Did you work on that one too? If it's not too much trouble could you go in depth with all the films you participated in? I would love to know as much as possible about these films restorations. Don't feel preassured to write it all at once take your time and ofcourse you can also chose not to write anything at all. Anything you decide if ok.

Could anyone please post a screen comparison of Lady Tremain's sleeve? I don't seem to remember her not having one originally.

I found the Cinderella DVD-digital restoration gone too far? thread!

The sleeve thing is the first two pictures. Notice how the colors change! In fact, in the picture with Lady Tremaine wearing the blue shawl, the outlines are no longer white! In fact, now the outlines are darker than the rest of the shawl! I knew they messed up the DVD restoration! WTF?!

ok this is not so much about changes on dvd. but i was watching my robin hood in spanish then i notice they had background music where there is none in the english and french track.am i sure these are authentic score.we all know how silent some parts of robin hood can be. so why is it omitted in the english track? the score sounded very george brunsish. check the scene right after oo-de-lally when robin and lil john were talking up the tree.
do you still wait for me Dream Giver?

I've worked on 13 Disney DVD's to create menus and new assets. The showiest was ATLANTIS, because I got to work with the original Disney assets to make new bonus menu animation.
That's no record - other artists I know have worked on many more.
I've had nothing to do with the Disney film restorations, many of which were done by Lowry Digital Images.

My usual work has been computer assisted feature film fx, 3D and classical animation on several shows including one Disney Aladdin episode produced in Australia.

This link:

http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=mm050921sh

will explain more about Cinderella's restoration via the El Capitan's showing of the film back in 2005.

I do not know the exact technique Lowry used, but yes, I have seen some inked lines' colors changed by the processes used on SLEEPING BEAUTY and CINDERELLA.

You did a great job with Atlantis! One of my favorite menu setups!

Yes, Kudos to you on Atlantis! That and Snow White are the 2 best Disney DVD releases no question. All of the films of the last 20 years should have gotten Atlantis quality DVD treatment. Just compare that Atlantis behinds the scenes film with the Aladdin one. Aladdin wasn't as direct and clear driven. Atlantis was thurough and in depth. All the classic Disney films should have gotten films like that. I also loved that Atlantis gave us the cut scenes and animation tests and such. It's a shame that we didn't get this on any other release.

Snow White could have been better if they had included the 1993 film with all the animator interviews. That was my only gripe with Snow White, that it had little animator interviews when so many have been made over the years. A nice bonus would have been the 1987 special with Dick van Dyke.Perhaps the next release will be a 3 disc set with all of this stuff on it like Wizard of OZ.

I have been very let down with nearly all Disney 2 disc DVD's in their lack of content after these two gems. Especially Aladdin, Mermaid, and Beauty.

Anyway, also thanks for understanding my question in the other thread. I was merely providing examples and not asking about specific titles you may have worked on and I think you understood that. Thanks.

Once the current HD issues get sorted out, we should expect to see all Disney's Platinums debut on HD Blu-Ray in the future. HD disks have huge storage potential so for Cindy, Disney could throw every interview, every documentary and whatever else __along__ with the feature onto one disk.

Disney could go so far to team up all the Cinderellas they ever made on one Disk. Would people pay $50 - 100 for this ultra-lux package?

Perhaps these releases will be called "-----" (title) Iridium?

My understanding wrt Mermaid Platinum was a fair bit of new stuff went into that release. The Virtual Tour was based on a set of Blueprints made years ago by Disney Imagineering. Getting that to DVD was a major undertaking.

$50 to seems like a lot of money, if I were rich then I would gladly pay that much, but I can only afford $20 for a movie, a little more for the out of print ones. You think Disney would charge that much? I honestly don't think they will, but I never know. I can buy clothing and stuff I need more, with $50.

But the price for high def DVD will come down with time. When DVDs debuted many of those were 50.00 as well. When I bought my first player in 2000 the player cost me almost 200.00 and my first DVD was the 2 disc A Bug's Life. I paid 40.00 for that. You can now get it for 15.00 or less. Many of the early 2 disc sets like Atlantis, Tarzan, and New Groove all retailed at 40.00 or more as well. Give it time, the price will go down.

I doubt Disney will ever do extensive DVD sets because they know they can make just as much money with the fluff extras. Why put more money into it that won't increase sales?

As for Mermaid, although I like the CGI ride that never was I'd have gladly traded it in for more behind the scenes material. But that's just me.
