Well, I do like The Rescuers Down Under but not as much as I like The Rescuers - The Original Masterpiece.Prince Adam wrote:You mean you didn't like Rescuers Down Under? There's a good article that mentions both at LaughingPlace.com.
ONce there, go to Thursday's "Jim on Film" article revisiting all the features.

Alice in Wonderland is being advertised as "Limited Time Only" so I guess the release window is likely to be as short of Sleeping Beauty's (3-4 months?)
So it looks like Disney are holding the none Platinum releases in higher regard than the Platinum releases. Not only was the Sleeping Beauty DVD better than the Lion King, but it was available for the shorter time. The same appears to be true of Alice In Wonderland.
While The Lion King is (according to Animated Movies a few days ago) not being Vaulted until October 2005 - the new Platinum Release 2 year availability.
Does Disney know what they are doing?

No, no, what I mean is all those that are direct to video really suck -in my opinion-.
The Rescuers Down Under is a BEAUTIFUL movie, with great animation and an amazing score. I love it.
Of course, the same with FANTASIA 2000. I love it too. The 3 Little Pigs were meant for big screen projection.
Direct to video are made by the branch at Disney Televison. And the animation is not as good. The stories and music, are not like the originals. It's Direct to Video sequels what I am against. Well, not against. I simply don't buy them. I've seen a few, cos I like to talk about what I see. If I hadn't watched any of them, it wouldn't be fair that I complained about them...

well, children enjoy direct to video sequels of their favorite disney characters. they should be rereleased from the vault specifically for that target audience. as a collector, you just don't have to purchase the sequels rather than demand they be banned altogether.

TLK's going out of print a year later this time, in January 2005. Probably, this is to cash in on the upcoming sequel releases. From here on out, I believe each Platinum release will OOP a year later too.jasmine-rules wrote:I'm surprised that lion king isn't also going in the vault. Didn't beauty and the beast go OOP in january 2003? Maybe I'm mistaked

As part of the newly revised Platinum schedule, each Platinum release beginning with The Lion King stays on the market for two years and then is vaulted for five years before being reissued.

Hunchback won't go out of print in 2005. It'll probably get a Masterpiece Edition 2-disc release in 2005, and instead of making a big deal about the old one being retired they'll just take it OOP quietely and replace it, like they're doing with Alice and presumably the others, too.
