THE RESCUERS!
You mean you didn't like Rescuers Down Under? I haven't seen the original Rescuers in like 10 years, but I remember loving how much the two films were alike.
There's a good article that mentions both at LaughingPlace.com.
ONce there, go to Thursday's "Jim on Film" article revisiting all the features.
Well, I do like The Rescuers Down Under but not as much as I like The Rescuers - The Original Masterpiece.
so in 2005 are any of these films going to the vault?
The Lion King
Lion King 1 & 1/2
Lion King 2
Alice in Wonderland Special Edition
Mary Poppins Special Edition
Pocahantas Special Edition
Lilo and Stitch Special Edition
Alice in Wonderland is being advertised as "Limited Time Only" so I guess the release window is likely to be as short of Sleeping Beauty's (3-4 months?)
So it looks like Disney are holding the none Platinum releases in higher regard than the Platinum releases. Not only was the Sleeping Beauty DVD better than the Lion King, but it was available for the shorter time. The same appears to be true of Alice In Wonderland.
While The Lion King is (according to Animated Movies a few days ago) not being Vaulted until October 2005 - the new Platinum Release 2 year availability.
Yah it sounds like Alice SE will be out for 3 - 4, just like SB is. Hmm...I think Disney knows what they are doing business wise. After all they make their decisions by flipping a coin.

Are you sure about all? That includes Rescuers Down Under (that would break Tangela's heart), and the two Three Little Pigs sequels. PLus, and DTV's that you may actually like.
No, no, what I mean is all those that are direct to video really suck -in my opinion-.
The Rescuers Down Under is a BEAUTIFUL movie, with great animation and an amazing score. I love it.
Of course, the same with FANTASIA 2000. I love it too. The 3 Little Pigs were meant for big screen projection.
Direct to video are made by the branch at Disney Televison. And the animation is not as good. The stories and music, are not like the originals. It's Direct to Video sequels what I am against. Well, not against. I simply don't buy them. I've seen a few, cos I like to talk about what I see. If I hadn't watched any of them, it wouldn't be fair that I complained about them...

well, children enjoy direct to video sequels of their favorite disney characters. they should be rereleased from the vault specifically for that target audience. as a collector, you just don't have to purchase the sequels rather than demand they be banned altogether.
Here's some bad news for Disney fans.
Some Disney DVD's are going to the vault.
Buy them before they go to the vault on January 31.
Remember Sleeping Beauty will be Platium Edition soon.

TLK's going out of print a year later this time, in January 2005. Probably, this is to cash in on the upcoming sequel releases. From here on out, I believe each Platinum release will OOP a year later too.
As part of the newly revised Platinum schedule, each Platinum release beginning with The Lion King stays on the market for two years and then is vaulted for five years before being reissued.
yeah the lion king and both of its sequels will be out of print in Jan 2005. i think that the movies that will be out of print are:
The Lion King
The Lion King 2
The Lion King 1&1/2
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2
*Alice in Wonderland
*Pocahantas
*Lilo and Stitch
Hunchback won't go out of print in 2005. It'll probably get a Masterpiece Edition 2-disc release in 2005, and instead of making a big deal about the old one being retired they'll just take it OOP quietely and replace it, like they're doing with Alice and presumably the others, too.
