Disney has always alotted a certain ammount of programing that isn't theirs. Back when I was a kid, I think Disney Channel was doing a 20% rule and was playing "Growing Pains," a Warner Bros. show, but still family oriented. I do agree that the addition of "Power Rangers" to Toon Disney completely goes against what the network was created be: an outlet for Disney animated shows to have a place for the public to enjoy them. I'm not against Disney playing non-Disney shows. Especially since Disney now owns the rights to the X-Men and Spiderman series (they acquired them when they bought Fox Family Channel). The shows they air that aren't Disney, such as Braceface and Garfield, fullfill their goal of having non-Disney shows on the network as well. However, I do believe Disney now owns Power Rangers and that new episodes are made by them (not sure about that part). The DVD's are released by Buena Vista.
Here's my two cents: Jetix is being played on ABC Family AND Toon Disney. If this block of programming is really that popular, than maybe it should be on both channels, seeing as I heard that Toon Disney was loosing money for the company. However, Power Rangers should only be played on ABC Family since it isn't animated. And Toon Disney should play their classic series more because it would appear there is an outlet for them. People want to see thema and are even willing to own them on DVD. I've never been much into Toon Disney, but there was a time where I had my VCR set to record Ducktales at 4AM so I could watch it the next day. All of the episodes are slowly making their way to DVD, so Toon Disney doesn't hold much interest for me. But I think it's a great idea and hope Disney works out their problems with it.

If the show is in the air it is still producing money. That's what Disney is after. You wanna see old stuff, buy the DVDs.

Listen, someone really needs to explain to me what the Disney Channel and Toon Disney consist of. I live in Europe, and have never seen either channel available in my country. Therefore I am confused. What's with Toon Disney airing non-Disney shows? Someone on another thread even said that Toon Disney broadcast Don Bluth's "All Dogs Go To Heaven". But then if you see "All Dogs Go To Heaven" on Toon Disney, then I wouldn't be surprised to come across the likes of Shrek on the same channel.

Toon Disney primarily consists of all Disney channel shows like Kim Possible, Timon and Pumbaa, Lilo and Stitch: The Series, and other shows like TLM: The Series, and Aladdin: The Series. Toon Disney usually shows Toon Disney movies, but sometimes, other toon movies are played on this channel too, like "All Dogs Go To Heaven"
JETIX is shown on Toon Disney, and shows television series like Power Rangers, Digimon, other anime shows, and other types of shows that do not relate to Disney at all. Which doesn't make any sense.
The Disney Channel is strictly Disney. Disney television shows, Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney theatrical movies, movies from Disney television shows and any other recent Disney movies. They hardly ever show pre 1995, but once in awhile they have show Disney animated movies dating back to Cindy. Toon Disney usually shows "The Aristocats" "The Rescuers" "Robin Hood" and some other 70's & 80's movies.
I hope this helps.

I think jetix should get its own channel.
that would allow toon disney fans to keep their old favorites, and with jetix, people like me could watch (hopfully) old eps of power rangers more often.
but I dont get toon disney myself. I wish I did though. I wonder how long it'll be before it becomes part of basic cable (not Basic basic, just not digital) like the disney channel has. I didnt get the disney channel untill that happened, and was forced to watch it at other peoples houses.

Thanks Sequel!
I personally have Jetix at home. It's a channel of its own. I've always had the impression that it's British. I never watch it though. It's just a dullsville fest of the same programming over and over again. Nothing but Power Rangers and Pucca (whatever she is) all day long.
I suppose it's aimed at kids anyway...

No offense to any of you guys, but a petition isn't going to do anything. If people keep tuning in, the show won't be going anywhere.

Actually Disney Channel...
Well even The Disney Channel does not always show Disney movies. Such as a few times ago I saw that Harry Potter and the Soreceror's Stone was on THE DISNEY CHANNEL.... Is it just me or isn't that Warner Brothers that made the Harry Potter Movies..... Also on ABC Family where Jetix originated from they are going to show Tim Burton's Corpse Bride which is also made by Warner Brothers... In my opinion ABC Family should show The Nightmare Before Christmas which is owned by Disney. Or how about both back to back.... Although then again they probably won't show The Nightmare Before Christmas wouldn't be shown given the fact it is coming soon to Disney Digital 3-D at a theater far away from you.

Disney needs to stop showing Harry Potter. IMHO, that movie doesn't really belong on the channel, especially when it comes time to air Goblet of Fire.
And anyway, if they have to air it, air it at Halloween time only.
I turned toon disney on very briefly this morning while in a motel (went out of town for a wedding) and they were playing Power Rangers! Why can't they play a CARTOON show?
I recorded a whole tape of Carebears from toon disney back when they aired it at like 4 or 5 AM! I had to set my VCR and then when I would watch it, I had to fast foward all the **commercials**.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.
Re: Actually Disney Channel...
The reason why Disney shows non-Disney films on their channels is because they bought the basic TV rights to the films (but films from the WB are shown mainly on HBO and the other premium movie networks first), mostly before they even hit theaters. They bought the TV rights to all four Harry Potter films (and will likely do so with the last three), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Polar Express, and other family-oriented films. (FX is like Disney, they too have already bought TV rights to films that won't be shown on basic cable until 2008 or 2009, like Batman Begins, X-Men 3, Superman Returns, and The Omen remake.) The reason why they do that is because so that they can get high ratings and such... it's money, people. More than you think.disneyboy20022 wrote:Well even The Disney Channel does not always show Disney movies. However, Fox owned the rights to the Power Ranger shows and other Saban properties starting from 1994 to late 2001. They sold their interest to Disney, who now owns Saban's entire library of shows as well as the franchise.
Even being a longtime follower of the PR show, it is disheartening to see that Disney is airing that show on a network that prided itself on showing classic Disney cartoons and they are scrapping that for a more action-oriented action block.
