petition to remove JETIX from toon disney

Post by toonaspie »

http://www.petitiononline.com/nojetix/petition.html

This is a petition to remove that retarded action line up Jetix from Toon Disney. It's a very logical idea.

#1. It's kinda stupid to have action cartoons on during primetime everyday. What if I'm into something more wholesome at 8pm?

#2. Jetix is on ABC Family. Who wants to pay more money for mediocre action shows I wouldnt care less for?

#3. Toon Disney is not really Toon Disney.

a. they only show a few of the old school stuff once or twice a day and it's always between midnight-6am, the rest is the same stuff I have to endure now on either ABC, ABC family or Disney channel

b. shows like Braceface and Power Rangers and Digimon werent even made by Disney so the Disney name is kinda tainted (theyre also known to show Garfield and Friends)

i) the big one: POWER RANGERS IS A LIVE ACTION SHOW! Who were the people who named this station Toon Disney?!!!!

Point cleared, I'm signing

I will 100% sign. Jetix is an outrage!! It has totally destroyed Toon Disney. If i want to watch Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Talspin, Hercules, 101 Dalmatians, Ducktales, Bonkers or any other fantastic show I have to watch in the AM hours. That is horrible. Jetix has totally destroyed Toon Disney!!!

I signed it because Jetix is making older animated series to vanish.

Sadly I don't own Toon Disney.

Even now Kim Possible airs on Toon Disney.

I hope Toon Disney removes The Proud Family, Dave the Barbarian, Recess, House of Mouse, Teamo Supremo, 101 Dalmatians, House of Mouse, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Teacher's Pet, Lloyd in Space, Fillmore, The Weekenders, Power Rangers, Digimon, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, Beyblade, Battle B-Daman, Shinzo, Spider-Man, X-Men, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, W.I.T.C.H., and make room for DuckTales, Darwing Duck, Bonkers, Goof Troop, Gummi Bears, Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers and all the other Disney afternoon shows.

I signed. I don't even have Toon Disney but it sounds like its not much to have anyway. I always thought it would be fun to have, to be able to watch older Disney cartoons but I guess I wouldn't be getting them if I got the channel anyway. I wonder why they are showing cartoons and movies that aren't even Disney. Sounds weird.

Does anyone know how their ratings do? If they've gone up significantly then unfortunately I don't think much will change, but that seems odd as it's contradictory to the reason that people would get the channel in the first place.

Same with Nick@Nite and TVLand. I still like them both and the newer programming they have is good, but it doesn't compare to the older stuff they used to show and I miss it. It's time for a 3rd channel (well, 2.5, as Nick@Nite isn't so much a channel).

Okay, here we have yet another feeble attempt at bringing down something that is entirely out of everyone's control, I for one LOVE older disney shows such as darkwing duck, talespin, gummi bears etc...but also am a huge fan of power rangers, so any extra airings that will bring it into more awareness is fine with me...and anyways think of this logically...Jetix is on for roughly 2-3 hours nightly...while i will admit it's schedule does need some tweaking, Jetix should not be blamed for the issues happening on Toon Disney's block, what should be blamed are the ridiculous amounts of repeats of stupid shows, such as hour long blocks of The Weekenders, Teacher's Pet,etc.

If you are going to blame something blame all of it, not just the part that bothers you.

What I dont understand is Disney is a major powerhouse...they have more than enough money to make another satellite station and perhaps just be called the Jetix channel. No one has to know that it belongs to Disney (and people who arent Disney nerds will never know anyway, kinda like the ABC Family channel). Honestly there is a need for another station like cartoon network where there is variety in the shows (meaning that not all the shows will belong to the same company even though a majority of the shows on Cartoon Network are Warner Bros. property).

The problem with Toon Disney does not lie in repeats or recycled material. The problem is that Toon Disney is not Toon Disney. The people who are in charge of Toon Disney does not give its viewers enough credit. When we hear that there's a satellite channel called Toon Disney we immediatly think that this is a channel to showcase Disney TV animation. The fact that 50% of the shows on Toon Disney do not belong in either the "Toon" or especially the "Disney" aspect leaves the audience to be lied to more than they should be. I'll be okay if they want to keep showing repeats of the current Disney channel cartoons over and over (if they do though, it wouldnt really be worth opening my wallet for). But it makes sense to say it's called Disney cuz they made it...

...it shouldnt be called Disney just cuz they bought it

If they want to save the Disney name (and still show stuff like Power Rangers) then these execs probably shouldve come up with another name for their network other than Toon Disney but you know...

hmm, lets see Power Rangers general story is usually 5-6 teens coming together and learning the values of friendship, sacrifice, heroism and to defeat those that want to do harm...your right, that so isnt disney....(rolls eyes), look at the bigger picture sometimes, it doesnt need to be created by the company for them to know a valueable inspiring childs title.

That's a risk for TD, actually. I think a Jetix channel would probably be made out of an existing channel, rather than created from scratch. Granted it makes sense to just scrap Family and make it a new Jetix channel but DisneyWar's references to in-company efforts to do so were all failures. Not only that, Eisner got Pat Robertson's help in keeping ABCF on several cable systems which might mean he's staying on the channel. So, really if they go for a 24/7 Jetix channel and not build it from scratch it's more likely to be from Toon Disney.

I agree with removing POWER RANGERS (its not even a cartoon!) and most of the other cartoons, but not xmen or spiderman - ABC family doesn't even show these in order and toon disney sort of does.........

I think they should bring back showing Care Bears :( Its not disney-eque, but it was on the station for awhile. Garfield & Friends isn't even on in syndication anymore. But as soon as the last volumes of the show are out on DVD, its okay if they remove the show.

They do over-air some shows (Recess, Proud Family). I mean come on - how about showing the stuff that DISNEY Channel stopped showing? Like ink and paint club......

sorry for the rant, but Toon Disney has been annoying at best. :(

Wait let me get this strait, they have Power Rangers on Toon Disney? Is Power Rangers even Disney orientated? If not why is it on there anyways?
I don't really watch Toon Disney so I don't really care, but I seriously think that you need to have Disney orientated programs on there.

I know this is an old thread but I searched Jetix to see if any1 shared my feelings. Unfortunately it looks like its only grown in popularity over time :( and the Disney "classics" are being shown less and less.
