thats awesome, I remember having some TLM happy meal toys when I was younger... I know I had the one of Ariel holding a sea horse or something like that, and then when for re-release, I had the golden Flounder one.. I go to McDonalds all the time, so Ill definately get Happy Meals, and I have no shame in asking for a girls one, lol.

Hmm. I hope they're good, and not gimmicky gadgets that only girls would appreciate. I do collect Happy Meal Toys when they are good (MOSTLY, but not exclusively Disney) because I collect toys in general. They've done THe Little Mermaid quite a bit, I believe. I think I've snagged them all, too. They even had some interesting stuff for The Little Mermaid TV series. I mainly like to get figures though. They'll have a time coming up with something original, and I sure hope that doesn't mean gadgety type stuff, or girly things like purses and hair accessories. On the other hand, if it's something junky, that means I don't have to eat happy meals all month.

Me too. Those were from BK (Burger King). Small, but nice. I like the Cogsworth wind-up. Of course, the bad thing was that Cogsworth and Chip were nearly as big as Belle and Beast, ha. That was back when Kids' Meal promotions were often only 4 toys (sometimes another toy for kids under 3, but I didn't find out about those until they stopped making promotion related ones). I remember that the first GREAT Happy Meal toys, besides the little Ronald McDonald cars, was the Bambi set of four figures from McDonald's. That is a NICE set. The only other place around here that sometimes has good toys is Burger King. Wendy's does some that are usually crummy, but occasionally, they have good stuff. Jack in the Box used to occasional do awesome toys (like their Universal Monsters set), but they wouldn't advertise them (not even on their website). I don't know if they even do toys now. Pfft..., I remember when the toy prize was, like, a really cheap spin-top or a balloon character with paper shoes.

My BatB toys are from McDonald's in Germany, so I don't know about the American ones. But I always liked the Disney stuff in the Happy Meals.

I don't have pictures of them. But I'll try to describe them:

Belle: Little figure with a detachable ballgown skirt. Whe you didn't put the skirt on it looked like Belle wearing a very sexy 60s dress with a mini skirt.
She also was holding a bunch of roses in her hand. (about 4 inches high)

Beast: Also a figure with a detachable jacket. It was a bit bigger (5 inches?)

Lumière: Just Lumière and if you pressed a button on the "bottom" light was flashing in his "arms"

Mrs Potts: She had wheels and when you pushed her around her top/hat was jumping up and down.

Chip: Chip was just another figure, but almost as big as Mrs Potts.

I don't have the Cogsworth one, so I really don't remember what that one did.

Omg! I still have my Scuttle! It must be pretty much ancient but I have that Scuttle-figure from when the figures were released originally. You wind the figure and he swims really fast through the water by flipping his feet. Way amazing and original, I know

Yes, the first GOOD happy meal toys were usually only sets of four here in the U.S.

That second set shown was interesting. They were in packages so you couldn't see inside, because there were rare ones that were randomly painted gold. You could also order a complete set of the gold ones. I think they were literally just painted gold though. I have the set in my closet somewhere. It was a gift from a relative. Ariel and Tinkerbell are two of my dreamgirls, so they are also among my collecting obsessions.

Wow, you had to go often to McDonald's if you wanted the whole set and didn't know what you were gonna get. Imagine you got the same one 5 times!

Yes! And if you think that was crazy, when 101 Dalmatians (live-action) and 102 Dalmatians came out, they had a worse situation. All the toys were in surprise bags, and there were 101 to collect the first time, 102 the second time! I have no clue how many I have from each time (though my aunt gave me many of them).

That's sooooooooooo weird!!!
I think we only had about 20 of the dalmatians but the bags were see-through and you could ask the staff to give you the ones you wanted.
That was for the live-action one.
The "normal" movie: That one consisted of some of the dalmatians, Cruella DeVil and.., I don't remember.

Lol, I have that one too!! We also have the Ursula from 1989. I think wew only went to McDonald's once that month since there are 3 Ursulas (one for each of the NJ trilogy) and none of the other toys sitting in our basement. Hehehe.

Ohhhhh, wow! I haven't thought of those in years. I think I still have a few of the Ariel's packed away somewhere... she always looked kinda awkward though, her fins all bent that way so she could "stand" up. And didn't they have a special gold one for the re-release?

Hahah, at least I have young brothers and sister though. Make them go buy the food and I'll steal the toys. Like taking candy from a baby! Muahahah!

yes, the deal terminated was the McDonald's exclusive rights to Disney products in kids' meals.

they can still make deal, but Disney can look for other partners (like Burger King or whoever wants to ante up advertising $$$) and McDonald's does not have to commit to a movie they think might bring in less $$$ than some other toy deal.
