Merchandise Questions + looking for LK friends!

Post by Engel »

Hi Forum-
My name's Engel, I'm 19 and from Bath, England. I am a huge collector of all things disney and I have a few questions about disney merchandise. I would be very greatful for any answers.
1) Is there any websites where you can read about "vintage" disney merch? I havn't been able to find much useful stuff on google, though I may be looking in the wrong area.
2) When did "The Mickey Mouse Company" Change to "Disney"? I have a few bits of older disney merchandise and I'm trying to find out dates of when they were made.
3) Does anyone know of any particular forums for the discussion of merchandise? eg; Trade, Buy and Sell merchandise forum, other than ebay. My LK collection has really outdone Ebay (UK), Not often finding anything I don't have (eek) and I'm beginning to look for very HTF things for my collection and perhaps looking to trade doubles.

Eek..So many questions. Hehe. I am also looking for contacts all over the world who are also fanatical about Disney and collecting. I collect all things Disney but mostly Lion King and wish to have e-friends or whatever interested in things like that :)
I hope I havn't been too demanding for a first post and I look forward to replies.

Try looking at http://www.phil-sears.com he has a wide variety of all things Disney to collect from. Have you also tried www.Disneyauctions.com there are a couple sites yet that I'll post later.

Aladdin merchandise

Post by Jungleprince_55 »

I was just wondering, has anyone here ever collected any cool aladdin merchandise.

When i got my aladdin dvd today i remembered all of the cool aladdin stuff i used to have along time ago.

i had like every aladdin action figure that ever came out,i remember the genie figure where his head could come out and you could flip it over and he had a different expression,i also remember that i accidentally decapitated my plain aladdin figure and my mom had to glue his head back on,and i remember my little brother kept stealing those little white plastic birds that went inside that little gold birdcage that came with one of the jasmine figures.

i also remember when my grandpa bought me that huge 12" aladdin doll where you could change him into his prince ali clothes, and i used to have an abu plush and i remember having a genie lamp playset thingie that opened up and had little play figures inside.

I've tried looking on ebay but i can never find anything.

I'd like to find a nice lot of some of the figures somewhere.

I used to love those things!

Well, I'm still waiting to see stuff in stores. Haven't seen anything

To answer you question:

A mug of Jafar, a t-shirt of Jafar, a sweater of Capt. Hook-Chernabog and Jafar, the Lilo and Stitch poster (just because of the Aladdin characters), the poster, a picture on wodden of Aladdin and Jasmine that I got from my sticker album, the soundtrack, a Jafar sticker in my car, Mickey Mouse and the House of Villains DVD just because of Jafar of course, the DVD and the Gift Set DVD.

The one thing I regret is that I had the HUGE movie poster puzzle but lost it.

I found this webpage that show most of the toys i am talking about:

http://www.donettas.com/Aladdintoys.html

I used to have pretty much every figure shown on that page(the collectible ones and the action figures),i also had the cave of wonders playset, once upon a time playset, aladdin adventure set, anchors away sailing ship, both of those action figure gift set thingies(The ones from the t.v. show),and yes i even had that once upon a time locket thingie.
(Back then i didn't care,it was an aladdin toy,so i wanted it)

I have that beetle thing that's in two parts. Only thing is, when you put the two parts together it doesn't make the Cave of Wonders appear. I also have a mousepad with the design of the carpet and it has the actual tassels on it and everything. And a framed still from the movie.

I had pens:). I think my sister had the Aladdin 'ken' type doll, but I don't even want to think what was done to that! I know the horrors which the Beast doll endured!

Interesting Mulan Merchandise

Post by Christian »

Buena Vista Home Entertainment has been sending me some promotional stuff recently for the upcoming release of Mulan and today I got a thing that looks like a Chinese takeout carton and it is filled with fortune cookies and the fortunes in them all relate to Mulan. Very interesting. Luke may have got the cookies too. I also got an umbrella and a kite and some Chinese lanterns and a nice framed picture. If anyone wants to see any of this stuff I might be able to take a digital picture of it all.

FYI, fortune cookies are in fact not extremely popular in China in the present. I've got no idea why it's so famous in the US.

Actually Chinese fortune cookies aren't Chinese. They're an American invention. Someone just stuck Chinese in there.
