I would love to see a Grease 2: SE as I'm one of the few people out there who genuinely love the film. The chances of one, though, are VERY unlikely, which is a shame since producing supplements for the DVD would be easy. All of the cast members (minus Michelle Pfeiffer, of course) enjoy talking about the film and constantly attend conventions where the film's cult fans gather. Plus, director Patricia Birch recorded a commentary for the original one with its director. Why shouldn't she record a commentary for the film she actually directed, as well? Perhaps if Paramount feels generous and sees what a cult following the film has, they may treat us to a simple SE, and considering how unknown/hated Grease 2 is, a simple SE would be more than I could ask for.

All right, some bad news. The first review of the disc (that I know of) is out at DVDMG.com, and it seems the featurettes that dealt with various aspects of the 50s in general aren't on the R1 disc. This explains why we've got a single disc while the UK's got two discs (I always found it odd that Paramount would cram so much content on one disc, but now I see it's because they're not cramming that much at all with us). These are the featurettes that aren't on the R1 edition:

* 50s Beauty School 101 (06:44)
A 'how to' piece about those fabylous 50's hairstyles featured in the film. A split screen will show the finished hairstyle on one side, and a hairstylist re-creating it in a 'how-to' format on the other side

* Soda Jerk Specialties
A 'how-to' featurette about those soda fountain treats of a bygone era. We'll have a soda jerk demonstrate how to make those old fashioned soda shop favourites like ice cream sodas, egg creams, malts and banana splits

* Lets Go To The Hop
A re-creation of a 1950s sock hop, with a choreographer showing 6-10 couples how to do dances like the Stroll, the Hand Jive and the Lindy Hop

* Cool Cars
A featurette about fans of 1950s car culture. We'll follow a car aficionado as he restores a classic and takes it to a local diner's 'carhop' night to show it off

It's a shame, too, because these sounded like a lot of fun. At least we didn't lose anything directly movie-related. You can read the review for the disc here: http://www.dvdmg.com/greasese.shtml

The good news is that the picture and sound quality apparently blows away the previous disc, the audio commentary covers a lot of ground, and we see all of the live cast song performances from the Grease DVD party.

I'll just post a quick disclaimer:

Remember: Not everything passed by the BBFC ends up on the final discs.

We don't know whats on the PAL discs, until they are released. Ha, did you think we would even get a press release?
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Not that it matters but since this will be a new transfer does anyone know if the Coca-Cola signs in the diner will be blurred out, It never bothered me before until I was told about it and now that i know about it I notice it everytime i watch the movie.

Even if they still are though I'm Definately getting this when it comes out.

Of the four features, the only one I probably would have actually watched would be the soda jerk one.

Dorothy: I used to work in a malt shop after school
Blanche: Soda jerk?
Rose: No thanks, but I will have a malt.

Anyway, got that Golden Girls moment out of my system, and if anyone wants to see comparison screencaps, DVDTalk has a couple.

Well, I wouldn't even buy the UK edition. I agree the movie is kind of kitschy to begin with, but that doesn't mean Paramount has to throw away all and any legitimate quality treatment for the film out the window. They're treating the film like it's complete kitsch, and most people I know who like this movie don't think it's that campy and don't even like campy movies.

Why? The campy features are exactly the same as the US release. And a music chip is more campy than a leather jacket slipcover? :?

In my humble, not-so-popular opinion, Grease 2 deserves a special edition more than its predecessor.
Back a couple of pages I think it was Finch that said this, but anyway, just my two cents. While "Grease 2" was an okay movie, it is not near the show-stopper that "Grease" is, and doesn't have the cast that "Grease" had. And on top of all that, the movie just sucks the big one, because they used a bunch of over-the-hill actors trying to be teen-agers (albeit Travolta and Newton-John were no spring chickens when they did their movie).

Just be happy that they even released "Grease 2" on DVD, it could have been easily overlooked.

Ditto. Well...Kram owns the current edition, but I just clicked on the sample for the "Martian Remix" of a couple songs, and now I want the new one, lol.
