Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think RH would ever be released as a Platinum Edition DVD. This movie is an underrated movie, and people don't recognize it. I don't think many people would answer RH to be a favorite film of theirs. But the cover is really good.Mason_Ireton wrote:The cover has a platinum feeling to it, I highly suggest Most Wanted cover be saved for a possible platinum, the Gold verison has Robin Hood posing in shooting form. This one has all the main/sub cast on the cover (which is perfect).

I should've known that right when my schoolwork got so overwhelming that I could only come here on rare occasions would be when Disney starts releasing news. Oh well, 'tis my luck.
I must say that the cover looks pretty darn good. Since I've only seen the movie once, I'm not as critical of characters being off-model, so as far as I'm concerned, the coverart's great. I love the logo, but I just wish that "Most Wanted Edition" banner would disappear.
The DVD itself, however, looks about how I expected it would look. Bonus features, sadly but unsurprisingly, are a little bit on the... uh, crappy side, if you will. Upgraded picture and sound is always good news, and the alternate ending should be entertaining for a viewing or two. Everything else, though, is pretty much throwaway rubbish. Honestly Disney, why put out these re-releases is you're not going to really do anything with them? You're only hurting yourself.
Lilo and @$%!ing Stitch, Disney. C'mon. Your loyal fans are getting very impatient.

Wonderland - Alice and Wonderland was theatrically released in 1951
Neverland - Peter Pan was theatrically released in 1953
So you are obviously in 1952.

Specs and artwork aren't terrific, but they'll do, and I am pleasntly surprised by the alternate ending inclusion. I don't have the movie on DVD yet, so I'll get this one.

Me too! It's sad though b/c things like the House of Mouse movies had "Disney's" or just "Disney" for a pre-title (not sure if that's a word) and it was understandable. Putting that on one of the studio's "Animated Classics" makes it seem like they don't have much faith in the film, which is sad.numba1lostboy wrote:That's just what I was going to say!TheSequelofDisney wrote:My only gripe is that it says "Disney's" instead of "Walt Disney Pictures Presents" other than that, I'm going to get the DVD.
Other than that, I like the cover art. I will definitely buy it.
I'm buying this b/c I simply don't have it yet! The same with Dumbo and Fox and the Hound. It's disappointing that the release gets a T for "Troll" and not an E, but I'm glad they at least rereleased it for the sake of the consumer market who missed out the first time on these movies.
Haha! I didn't think of that! Is there a Year of the Fox on the Chinese Calendar or whatever...Enchantress wrote:Oh well, I gues 2006 is the year of the fox (Fox and the Hound and Robin Hood)![]()
Maybe next year will be the "Year of the H's" or the "Year of the Bulky Men" and we'll get rereleases or cheesy subtitled Special Editions of Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules.

Especially considering the bonus features on this lacking re-release. It's more like "Wanted, but not as much as a re-release of Hunchback" Edition.MickeyMousePal wrote:Robin Hood: Most Wanted Edition artwork isn't that bad but the Special Edition names are just wrong.
Will pick it up if the deleted scene/alternate ending is actually worth watching and/or if the new digital transfer is awesome (awesome enough that it blows the GC transfer away). But then again, Robin Hood is #4 on my favorite DAC list, so I'd buy it regardless.

I'm looking forward to this release. I was so close to buying the Gold Collection version from the Disney Movie Club...thank goodness I didn't!
I honestly haven't seen this movie in about 10 years. Sad, I know. I can't wait to get a hold of it!

I don't think Dumbo's transfer was bad at all. I found it really good, actually, even if it wasn't up to par with Lowry's restorations. The only bit that actually looked poor to me was the Pink Elephants sequence (you'd think that'd be one of the easier scenes to restore since you're dealing with a lot of black and neon colors). The Dumbo: 60th Anniversary Edition was in much worse shape than Robin Hood's Gold Classic disc, so even if Disney only makes a partial effort for this like they did with Dumbo, I expect Robin Hood to look quite good.BATBfan1 wrote:I just pray we do not get a bad transfer like Dumbos Big Stupid Edition!
That transfer really stinks!

BUT, why did snow white have no grain in it what so ever and that film is older than Dumbo. Some parts of Dumbo had more grain with white dots than the first release. At lease it was smoother than the new edition.
Even Pinocchio's Gold Classic Edition looked better than Dumbo's Big Top Edition. Even though the first release was grainny it still was more colorful than new edition. It also didn't have an over scan either. So when we watch it on our TV we lose even MORE picture.
So I will stick with my 60th Aniv Edition of Dumbo.
