Well, I have only one comment for Disney:
"Stop it. Stop it. This is all getting far too silly"

What the heck are Disney playing at? No Lilo and Stitch Special Edition for R1 (despite Leroy and Stitch and Lilo and Stitch 2 being ideal tie-in opportunities missed), at least that's a decent re-release with considerable in-depth additions, rather than a silly name and kiddie games and features.

And why Robin Hood or all things? Probably, bar The Black Cauldron one of Disney's worst animated "classics". Where's the much needed rereleases for Hercules/Hunchback of Notre Dame (both left out and sandwitched between a slew of 2 disc releases)?

I've yet to see what happens with the Fox and the Hound re-release, but I'm not expecting much. Robin Hood with it's silly title makes me expect even less. What happened to the days of rereleases which actually were 'upgrades'?

Wow, that's pretty unexpected.

Like Netty, Robin Hood ranks as one of my least favorite animated classics, and also does for the majority of the public. Who wants to bet it'll be a 1-Disc set?

Why can't Disney release the 2-Disc of Lilo and Stitch already! Or better yet release the 4-Disc Extended Edition of Chicken Little.

Whilst I love this movie, I have a few negative points:

1. The title "Most Wanted Edition" is ludicrous.

2. This probably won't be a 2 Disc Edition anyway considering that whilst it is liked, it's not loved as much as the likes of Cinderella and won't be seen by Disney management as something that really needs a 2 Disc edition.

3. I think that the transfer will be a quick job and a let-down compared to the likes of the Lady and the Tramp restoration.

I myself am looking forward to a rerelease as I didn't have a player when the "Gold Collection" came out, and wot but it now because it would look out of place.

The title is definitely laughable, and though Robin Hood isn't one of my favorites, I'm happy for its fans and will be picking this up as I don't own the current edition. I have to wonder, though, that with such a lesser known film as Robin Hood, what kind of bonus material are they going to prep for it? I'm honestly having trouble imagining anyone sitting down to discuss the film for a featurette. I'm hoping this will be more substantial than a bunch of games, at least. I'll be satisfied with a solid featurette, gallery, and trailers (the latter of which probably won't show up). I have to ask one question that Netty's already asked, though:

Where the frick is The Hunchback of Notre Dame?! Out of ALL of the Disney films not yet issued a SE, Hunchback is by far the easiest one to make into one (Lilo is the only other one that can give Hunchback a run for its money, and where the crap is THAT release, too?). Both films already have their bonus material ready! What's the hold up? Disney missed the opportunity to release it with Lilo & Stitch 2 and then again with Leroy & Stitch. Hunchback's 10th year is running out unless Disney surprises us with an end-of-the-year release, but with The Little Mermaid, The Fox and the Hound, and now (maybe) Robin Hood, I doubt that. What gives, Disney?

If it's a Dumbo-style double dip, then I will share in the negativity this release is currently receiving. Right now, however, I remain cautiously optimistic. If Robin Hood gets something that can truly be called an upgrade, then any of the Animated Classics are a possibility for upgrading. Who knows? Your favorite could be next!

I just love the movie Robin Hood at least Disney's Version. I Remember running around the house humming to the openeing theme and trying to whistle the theme to the openeing credits. I also remember when this film was on Disney Channel a lot. I do however own the Gold Collection version of Robin Hood I think anything added to whats on it now would be a great upgrade such as still galleries and trailers from the Movie. Well if you dont have the Mickey Mouse in Black and White Volume 1 Treasure, Ye Olden Days is a good cartoon, probably better than the movie it will accompany.

I am with Netty. Certainly ranks in my bottom 5 animated classics.

Perhaps I'm being optimistic here, but I see this as a great opportunity . Between "The Jungle Book" (Walt's last animated feature) and "The Fox and the Hound" (The younger generation's 1st animated feature) there is little documented publicly about the workings of the animation department during this changeover. I've read a few books about how they were unsure about closing down the studios or the animation department, and how the 'nine old men' trained newcomers like Glen Keane on animation, but we have virtually an entire decade of animation (The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Rescuers, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, not to mention the animated shorts and segments like Small One, Pete's Dragon, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks) with minimal attention to the animation department at this time.

My hope is that this "Most Wanted Edition" will give us in depth featurettes or ::crosses fingers:: feature length documentaries about the attitude of the studio during this time and who was making decisions in Walt's place. Sure we will get the kiddie fare like an all-new set-top game and a Bowling For Soup music video for "Oo-De-Lally", but maybe the original musicians will talk about deleted songs, or story meetings with the "nine old men". I'm assuming this will be a single disc release, but with compression rates being so high....you can fit a TON of stuff on single discs now (just look at the new Lord of the Rings DVD releases this fall!).

I will also reserve judgment until a specs list comes out, but I will remain optimistic until then. Yes, Hunchback is WAAaaaayy overdue for a Special Edition, but I will not 'rob' the fans (pun intended) of "Robin Hood" their Special Edition either. Unless the disc is lackluster like Dumbo Big Top Edition, I will totally upgrade.

The original version of "The Art of Walt Disney" by Christopher Finch (1973/1983) has a relatively long chapter about Robin Hood, which was underway at the time that book was originally published.

Why would Mulan get another edition? There is already a great 2-disc edition (okay, it could be a tiny, itsy bitsy, better, but.....). I don't mind the edition titles. They are just "attention grabbers" and seeing from this topic, everyone has their attention on this "silly" edition titles.

I don't much care for the rediclious edition names either, but let's think about this honestly. Yes, Hunhcback, Hercules and Lilo should come first, but on the bright side, Robin Hood is getting a better disc, and given what it currently has, there's no way this can't be better. Even if all it has on it is a brief featurette, it would still be better. And furthermore, it'll get it back on discount in circulars, which is good because I don't have the money to go after retail-price catalog titles since I keep needing to buy new releases to get them while they're cheap. So all around, I think the Robin Hood news is a good devolopment, and it just might herald the arrival of more improved DVDs of movies previously regulated to barebones Gold Collection treatment.

I am really excited that Robin Hood is coming out. When I was a kid I watched this movie constantly. I am hoping they remaster this film--and if they remaster both The Fox and the Hound and Robin Hood then the sky is the limit.

I am surprised that so few of you like Robin Hood. There are many people who really like this film. I think it might be liked by people who were watching Disney animated films before TLM more than those who began watching them later. Whatever you do, don't get upset or jealous when Disney reissues an animated film (that may potentially be improved), there is something to love about all the (feature) animation.
