Well 2006 really is the year of off-model cover art isn't it!
Even though I adore this film, I think I will pass on this unless the transfer is a real improvement. (I must admit the picture and sound on the current UK release aren't brilliant). It's a shame the gallery from the current UK release isn't making an appearance, however the deleted scene may be a worth an upgrade if it's 10 minutes long and fully animated, which of course it won't be!

Here is the cover art:

I'm still going to buy this since I don't even have the VHS of this movie. So RH is a buy for me. Now I just want to know about the Princess Mononoke DVD that's supposed to come out "in the near future"

Meh...I already own the GC edition, and unless Disney puts something of substance on the new edition, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to pass on it. OR if the transfer is remarkable, then I might consider purchasing...But as it stands, I rarely even watch RH that often. Don't get me wrong, its an ok Disney movie, but there are many more classics that I need to buy first before I consider double dipping (Like, I have yet to buy Cinderella PE, Alice in Wonderland, TENG: CE, Fantasia Anthology, and Mulan...not to mention that i'm probably going to buy TFATH, and TLM when they come out..) So by the end of this year, I will most likely be broke..

My only gripe is that it says "Disney's" instead of "Walt Disney Pictures Presents" other than that, I'm going to get the DVD.

At last, I can finally get some Disney movies that were part of the GC, that aren't anymore. I HATE the Gold Collection. I see this DVD as an upgrade from the GC DVD. There isn't a Storybook, which doesn't make any sense to have one anyway because you could just watch the movie. We get a Disney Song Selection which deletes the usage of the Sing-A-Long song of "Oo-De-Lally" on the GC disc, and there are 2 new games which I'm sure will be much better than the "Interactive Trivia Game" The short that was on the GC remains, so I can't really say anything about that. Now the only things that I would like to include on the DVD would be the theatrical trailer, an art gallery (big or small, I just want something), and a making-of (which I wouldn't care if it was 5 minutes or 50, even though I would much rather perfer the 50 minute making-of.). Of course I just love Slipcovers, and since this has one, I'm happier! Other than that, this DVD will be happily welcomed to my Disney Animated Feature Section in my room.

I was Prince John in Robin Hood at my school play in 5th grade. My first scene was counting money!

I have mixed feelings about the cover art. I absolutely love the overall layout and color scheme of it. It matches very nicely with Disney's other SEs (such as having the sidekicks and villain in the corner while the hero is the most dominant figure). I also love that they gave this a spiffy new logo and didn't re-use the same one used on previous editions. What I don't like, though, are the character's faces. Everybody looks like they're 15 years older than they were in the film. The only character who looks on-model is Sir Hiss. If they tweaked the character's faces and kept the same layout and color scheme, then I could say that I love it. As of now, I'll just say I like it.

I think that Disney can fit "Walt Disney Pictures Presents" in the space where "Disney's" is.numba1lostboy wrote:That's just what I was going to say!TheSequelofDisney wrote:My only gripe is that it says "Disney's" instead of "Walt Disney Pictures Presents" other than that, I'm going to get the DVD.
Other than that, I like the cover art. I will definitely buy it.

I thought this thread was a joke of some sort (haven't visited the home page in a few days). Man, the useless rereleases aren't stopping are they? I still need to buy this movie in some form though, so I guess this is as good as it gets for now.

The cover is kinda nice (hey, it's better than Dumbo's). I just don't like the look of Prince John. He looks fatter than he really is & his eyes & expression are, well...creepy. They should have put Allan-a-Dale on the cover, even if he was very small & sitting on the title like in the film. No Friar Tuck, either. Or Sherrif of Nottingham. Or at least something else to put in the bottom-left corner so there's no empty space. Oh well...
I'll probably still buy it, I don't have it on DVD, only on VHS. Too bad the features are so limited. The only things I find interesting on this DVD is the alternate ending & the deleted scene. No commentary
. There's probably enough of a backlog of drawings & other features for at least 2-Disc's somewhere in Disney's walls. I guess the only way to see all the behind-the-scenes goodies is to go the the Disney Archives (aka the Morgue) & check them out. Too bad I (or anyone else) can't, because it's only open to Disney F.A. employees.

Re: Robin Hood Most Wanted Editon
The cover has a platinum feeling to it, I highly suggest Most Wanted cover be saved for a possible platinum, the Gold verison has Robin Hood posing in shooting form. This one has all the main/sub cast on the cover (which is perfect).
