Bravo's 100 Funniest Movies!!!!

Any topic that doesn't fit elsewhere.

I guess it was just Bravo pandering to an expected demographic. Most of the movies they decided not to go into detail on were the Woody Allen ones and other lesser known by the new mainstream audiences. And everytime they mentioned some piece of crap like Half Baked, they went on for 4 or more minutes. When Bravo commits to something, they should really see it through. I still think VH1 does this sort of thing much better.

What a terrible list for most of the reasons already mentioned. I love Animal House and Caddyashack but not enough to put them at #1,2.

Meet the Fockers? Was Four Weddings and a Funeral a comedy? I dont remember laughing once. And as mentioned no list of funny movies can omit the Marx Brothers. The AFI list was not perfect, too many unfunny movies from the 1950s when everything was played as safe as can be. But still a lot closer than this.

That's one of the reasons I liked it. If it had tried to be funnier, it wouldn't have been so wonderful. But it did have Rowan Atkinson in it, and he's hilarious - so it wasn't all formal.

They even said there are eight Police Academy movies, when there are seven.

Well, there's another one coming right now (in the making). And there was a TV series. I know how that sounds, but I think they were refering to one of these when they said 8.

4 Weddings and A Furneral is a gentle chracter comedy of social embarassment. It's not "belly laugh" funny, but that's OK, because it's not supposed to be. It's sort of like an "Office light".

There are so many omissions on that Bravo list. I sent them a letter and will see what reaction I get from it.........probably none, they will just read and put it in the 'circular file'.

I listed the following movies in my omission list:

Bringing Up Baby - Cary Grant & Kate Hepburn

Pat & Mike - Spencer Tracy & Kate Hepburn

Desk Set - Spencer Tracy & Kate Hepburn

Father of the Bride - Spencer Tracy & Elizabeth Taylor

Father's Little Dividend - Spencer Tracy & Elizabeth Taylor

Cheaper By The Dozen - Clifton Webb & Myrna Loy

Belles on Their Toes (The Sequel to Cheaper/Dozen) - Jeanne Crain & Myrna Loy

All of the Marx Brothers Films

Most of the Abbott & Costello Feature Films

All of the Ma & Pa Kettle movies with Marjorie Main & Percy Kilbride

All of the Francis the Talking Mule films

All of the Leo Gorcey & The Bowery Boys films

That is just a sample of what I sent to them. If I get an answer to my letter I will post it here.
