Yay, Pluto! A well-deserved win and a very cool experience which we all got to share vicariously! Hooray!

Kram Nebuer wrote:Lol, yeah his acceptance speech will be delayed since he currently does not have access to the internet as often as he used to. He's either shopping at Downtown Disney, eating a sandwich from Earl, watching a movie, playing in the parks, or working at the parks. It's hard to get a hold of him these days!
Hmmmmm (calls him up b/c I know he's off!)...well, he's golfing right now! :( He said he'll post tomorrow.
Well, it's tomorrow (or day after, as it's 12:36 am...), and here I am.

Thanks everyone for this award, I feel honored that you all enjoy...yourselves! Yep, this award isn't just for me, but for every UD'er here, without which, I wouldn't have a Golden Mickey worthy signature! Special thanks to Alan, Teede, T/P Fan, Sequel, and the one and only Prince Eric...

Anyways, as for my absence, yes, I've been posting a lot less than normal. Work seems to get more in the way this year than it did last year, when I still kept up with posts (thanks to a roommate with a computer and his working night shifts while I worked day shifts). My computer access is now limited to 45 minutes a week (or day if I'm lucky) at one of the computer labs down here (we call them "Learning Centers", but it's the same thing). I won't be posting quite as much as I'm used to, which is a pity, since I've been skimming much of the board in the past hour before logging in for this one post. You guys sure know how to keep UD a wild and happening place! Looking forward to rejoining the place REGULARLY on/after August 11...

Anyways, don't go too crazy in my absence (which seem to be one of many this summer...with Prince Eric and DisneyFan 2000 on a hiatus as well), I'll still be around.

Congratulations to all the other winners in the ceremony this year too! All very deserving, and of course, Lukester, if you don't have enough shelf space, I've got two Mickeys who may want a couple more friends...

BTW, Laz and Netty, I remember you guys argued once about David Lynch. I've been checking out his films lately, and have to say, the guy's got one hell of a vision for a director, but I personally don't think it translates well in some of his pictures (I personally didn't like Wild at Heart). Think my favorite Lynch right now is Dune, and I'm still trying to finish Mulholland Drive. Still got to pick up a few more of his films (Eraserhead, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Lost Highway, The Straight Story...I don't think I'm missing any, am I?), before I can make a fair assessment of his directing.

I will resent you for that! :x :P
Congratulations Pluto! Any one of those articles is deserving of an award, and it was really hard to decide which one to choose. Great job to all the reviewers / writers.

Cheer up, Sequel. I don't have one either. It's waaaaay cooler to be in the 'loser' club anyway. We have better snacks and drinks and music. :P

Congrats to Pluto. A well-deserved win. :D

Tonight's portion of the awards ceremony is rated TV-MA. We take this moment to allow children to be removed from the room before our next presenter takes the stage. Parental guidance is not only suggested, it is insisted upon. Our regularly scheduled TV-14 programming will resume tomorrow. Thank you.

Heeeeeeeeeeere's LOOMIS!

-----

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and miscellaneous. I come before you as a man with no pants to bring you a very special bulletin. Unfortunately, the bulletin was in my pants, so I'll just have to wing it.

Hmmm? What's that? An award to present? Oh, which one is it?

News? You are kidding me, right? But that's so boring! Why can't I...ah, to hell with it.

News is usually a big deal for people who read it, and for those that don't, it probably isn't. At UD, we've had our fair share of news this year with all things Disney. However, even more exciting than the re-release of Dumbo on DVD was what was happening right here in the forums. We've shared, we've loved, we've laughed, cried...some of us even poked each other with pointed sticks. They've since been ejected from the forums, and their departures weren't nominated. Mind you, if anybody had managed to smuggle in a stick this year, there is a stick-based amnesty on the Red Carpet. UD.com vows to rid the world of SMDs (Sticks of Mass Destruction) by 2009. If we can find them.

I'm being told to stick to the script. And the nominees are:

- The Announcement of Audio Commentaries for the Complete Fifth Season DVD Release of "The Golden Girls"
- The Announcement of DVD Box Set Releases for "Duck Tales" and "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers"
- Bob Iger's Announcement of No Plans for a Song of the South DVD Release
- The Introduction of CD & DVD Round-Up Reviews
- The Opening of the Theme Parks Forum
- The Return of a Kinder, Gentler Loomis Following His Disneyland Visit

No guesses as to which one I hope is in the envelope. And the winner is...

Bob Iger's Announcement of No Plans for a Song of the South DVD Release

------

I'm not quite sure who to give this to, honestly. Not Iger, that's for sure. Hmmmm. Well, here it is anyways... first one to catch it keeps it! Image

Now that that's taken care of, I understand that I have a very angry FCC official waiting for me on the phone, so I need to go take care of that. Tomorrow, we'll have the presentation of this year's Special Award!

Hmmm, not sure congratulate since the news was disappointing.

On a side note, Loomis should be awarded just for that magnificent speech he gave! :D Even if it did shock a few kiddies who snuck in.

Thanks, T/P! If you make it out of cheese, I'd be just as happy as a real, solid Mickey. Or if you could fashion me some pants for the after-show party, much appreciated.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to apologise to the children of the world. Some things you just aren't ready for in the middle of a ceremony, and maybe that was one of them. Last time I take public speaking tips from the Jackson family. Just as well I didn't do my "baby juggling" encore...
